Update On My Silly Goals

Sunday, July 01, 2012

In January I listed 2 silly goals----

Would you like to join me in some silly fun goals?

I have 2.........

to wrap myself in a regular bath towel ....and have it fit
to fit in the space in front of my washer...(it is a small space)..

I can wrap a towel half way around me now and I can fit one leg in the space in front of my washer......

What would be your silly for fun goal?

Now..even though the pounds don't show much decrease.the towel goes a little more than half way around..I can even cross the top of the towel now

I can SQUEEZE in the space in front of my washer...........

still working on these "silly goals".....and having fun with them..........hehehe

This Is So Hard To Do

Saturday, June 30, 2012

VERSE:
Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
-- Luke 6:28

THOUGHT:
Outside the example of Jesus, this command makes no sense at
all. But, Jesus shows us the importance of leaving our destiny in
the hands of our Creator and Father. Suddenly, this makes perfect
sense. What is the best way to defeat an enemy? Certainly it's not
to beat or kill that person. No, the way we defeat our enemies is
by having Jesus' grace capture their hearts and having their
character conform to that of our King!

PRAYER:
Loving and gracious God, please soften my heart and toughen my
resolve so that I can love as Jesus loved. Make my life redemptive,
even to those who oppose, abhor, ridicule, and hate me. Use me,
dear Father, to bring others to the grace of Jesus. In his name I
pray. Amen.

JOPLIN TORNADO PHOTO RETURN SESSION

Sunday, June 24, 2012

Saturday, June 23, we were at the Joplin library for 2 hours and serviced 12 families. Some had photos returned to them and some we were unable to find photos for them. Several came and looked at our albums. The post office even delivered some more pictures and documents to us there. So far we have returned close to 15,000 photos to their rightful owners and still have over 27,000 left to be claimed. We are still getting photos sent to us that people have found, even after a year. It will take at least another year to clean, scan, sort, and post all the photos.

The next return session is scheduled for Friday, July 13 from 3 PM to 6 PM so maybe those that work can come by the Joplin Library.

We are part of the National Disaster Photo Rescue program.

Thanks everyone-it's a privilege and an honor to be able to do this. We sure hear some fantastic stories.

If anyone knows someone who lost pictures, please have them get in contact with me and I will give them numbers to call or have them check our Facebook page. I don't know if I can post the page here or not so just either email me or private message me for the info.

emoticon Thank you for that volunteer job!
When my kids were teen agers, my house burned down. I still regret the loss of pictures. I was able to get back only pictures that I had thought to send to family in other states. (good) ones but the humorous, silly ones ...no....

Keep up the good work! emoticon

OH!! MY ACHING HIPS!!

Friday, June 22, 2012

Tonight, DJ took me for a walk around the yard. After 10 minutes, I had to stop because my hips were hurting. Also, there are 4 steps up my back deck so I did 5 trips up and down these steps in addition to the walking. Gotta get ready for next week's walking challenge.

By the way, my yard was a pasture so it is very rough. I have a roller to try to smooth it out however it's been too dry to do any rolling.

Having the family here tomorrow for a cook out so lots of exercise there. Also, going to Joplin for 2 hours to work the photo return session.

Thanks everyone.......my hips recover with rest. I have had severe hip inflammation in the past. I have had 3 or 4 cortisone injections so my hips hurt easily. I just keep trucking until they tell me to rest.

Roc------very funny comment about needing a nurse since I am a retired RN......know where I can find a good nurse???

DJ says it's time to go for a walk.......later....Elsie
