Happy Dance

Friday, July 04, 2014

Saw my ophthalmologist yesterday for my biopsy results on my eye--had taken so long as it had to go for a 2nd evaluation. He was 90% sure it was ocular pigmentation melanoma, so was worried whether they could save my eye or not. Results--not melanoma but a condition known as "Nevus of the Conjunctiva" which is a pigmentation change somewhat similar to getting a mole. They can if left turn to cancer but results show all tissue taken around it are clear. My extreme light sensitivity in the eye is due to extreme dry eye in that eye so have been given new type of eye gel to use. So happy to say the least! emoticon

Still Hanging in-LOL

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

So here I am, followed all the instructions from the dietician & still wasn't losing even with exercising more. Had chronic sore throat &choking all the time & never felt hungry--back to Dr--off to internist--ran some tests etc--suffering from "silent gerd" apparently the "flap" between my & Esophogeaus & my stomach does not close at all but I have no symptons like heartburn etc--he sends me to another specialist--more tests--she tells me I have severe scar tissue and that while I was out she used a dialator to push back the scar tissue to allow me swallow a little easier--more pills to take. She thinks I was born with it & that I'm very lucky I haven't developed any of the cancers usually related to this. So now have to go to another specialist who does a special test to meaure bile levels in my stomach-then depending may have to have surgery--just thrilled to pieces over the whole thing!! emoticon

Thanks Chris--I go for a consult this month--the more I research the surgery etc on this more discouraged I becomeonly 40% that it will help at all & then only for about 3-5 years. My Dad has had surgery for the same thing 3 times and needs to have it done again. So seriously thinking I'll just leave well enough alone & try to control it with meds. emoticon

Time Flies :)

Friday, August 19, 2011

Can't believe it's the middle of August already. I started to see a dietician in January because I wasn't losing anything not a single pound for almost 6 months even with the increase in activity. She had me tracking & printing my daily sheets for 2 months--long story short not eating enough so she changed my calories to 1400 per day which I still struggle to attain. Also, gave me a range for protein/carbs/fibre/sodium/fats etc. So was doing my best to make the new levels but, still not losing!! So frustrating. I was having problems with severe bloating after eating (up to 5 in gain around waist/hips. So middle of June my daughter set me up with a nutritionist who did all sort of testing. Said I was very sensitive to Beef/Dairy/Cane Sugars/Peanuts & oils/ & last but not least Chocolate--but not coco--it's the sugars used in the chocolate which cause the problem. Also, told me I had a fungal infection & put me on some herbal pills & said to follow her diet which besides the foregoing also for 2 months avoided wheat/yeast/vinegars & mushrooms. So called the dietician & went over it with her--she okayed it as long as I kept up my nutritional levels she had set. So here I am almost 2 months later & down almost 16 lbs. Bloating has stopped/sleeping better. So going to give credit to them both for jump starting my weight loss again. I know I still have a ways to go but this loss is at least giving me hope emoticon Going for a follow up with nutrionist next week & can't wait to do a comparison wtih new levels versus the ones in June. Just hoping this continues till it's all off!!

Start Over

Monday, November 08, 2010

Well here it is Nov 8, 2010--& I've gained back some of what I lost. So have reset all my goals etc and am starting fresh. I purchased a used treadmill and I'm going to see if I can strengthen my back enough to use it on a daily basis. I'm always afraid to walk outside as my back issues cause my legs to go numb and I'm afraid of falling. They have lunch time skating at our local arena and my daughter & I are going to start going--I'm going this week to purchase skates.

so wish me luck!

Falling is also one of my biggest fears, Keeps me close to home usually and I've fallen there plenty. Ice Skating!! You are so much braver than I am. I've broken an arm and a hip in falls so No way I would get on ice. If you have a daughter that will be there the activity with a loved one will burn more calories and loneliness than anything else. You are awesome. emoticon

emoticon Glad you're starting over. You're sooo worth it! Great purchase. Try to start off slow and steady and gauge how you feel. For back, leg and knee issues... an elliptical would help alleviate it. That may be a good investment if the treadmill aggravates things. It's so much easier on the joints than the treadmill. All the best on your weight loss journey! emoticon

Sitting on hold!!

Saturday, June 26, 2010

emoticon Well it seems the only progress I seem to be making is in lowering my cholesterol--trying to follow the Mediterranean Diet along with med's seems to be working. But, weight is not coming down -- well not very fast --have lost like 9 lobs in 4 months--very discouraging!! Had thought I'd be down much more by now. So will keep trying-- finding exercising is the toughest--between my arthritis and injuries to right leg & foot. Right-- quit whining and get on with it. emoticonThanks for listening

As you lose weight the exercise will become easier. In the mean time you could try various types of exercise and maybe find someting you can do that your health problems won't interfere with. Congratulations on the 9 lbs you have lost. It is a good start.
