Week Two Begins...Again

Sunday, January 08, 2012

Here I am already starting my second week since I've come back. Yay! I've been having a hard time eating well, but I've been keeping track of all that I am eating. It's good for me to see where I am under-eating or overeating. I need to remember that all my success in the past was from tracking my food. It definitely keeps me in check and aware of what I'm doing. I'm also happy that I am doing the fitness challenge. It's making me exercise each day and keeping me to my goal of 10 minutes of exercise a day. I'm off to a pretty good start. It could be better but small steps, right?

More Specific Goals

Tuesday, January 03, 2012

Yesterday I listed the main goals I want to achieve this year, but I've been asked to be more specific. Hmm...

I said I plan to exercise at least ten minutes per day (and walking the dogs does not count). I don't really want to be more specific than that. The point is to exercise rather than not doing anything all day. I don't care if I walk, cycle, do a video or anything as long as I do something to get my heart pumping. I hope to be eventually exercising much more than ten minutes a day, but ten minutes is my minimum.

I also said I plan to make sure I take time for myself during the day. I should give myself at least an hour a day that I can do something for myself - and I don't mean just exercise (even though that's taking time for myself too). I can meditate, read a mystery, or spend time on the computer - something just for me.

Lastly, I said I wanted to make sure I eat in a healthy way. I plan on eating fruits and vegetables each day. I plan on eating every few hours so that my metabolism keeps running strong. I plan on keeping track of what I eat at least one day per week. I also plan on being aware of what I do eat even if I don't write it down.

These are my more specific goals. Wow! I need to post these up somewhere now to make sure I achieve them.

Those are great ways to start. They say to start with small specific goals. Once you are able to successfully accomplish those, add on to them and push forward. Goal setting is a learned process, but is also something you revise as you move forward. Good luck as you move forward. You are off to a great start.

Happy New Year!

Sunday, January 01, 2012

Today I am writing down my goals for this new year of 2012.
1. Exercise every day - even if it's only for 10 minutes - and walking the dog does not count!
2. Be aware of the food I eat each day. I will write down exactly what I eat at least one day a week.
3. I will take time for myself at some point throughout the day, even when I have a long work day.
These goals may not be much to others, but for me, they are things I have lacked over the past couple of years. I believe with these few goals accomplished, I will begin to lose the weight I have gained over the years too, my ultimate goal.

Mom Coming - Time to Be Consistent

Sunday, January 16, 2011

I'm going to have to try to be consistent next week. My mom is coming to visit, and I already know I'll be going off my usual diet because I'll need to take her out. Now, I know I can eat out and remain on my diet. However, I'll really have to work at it as I also know my mom will urge me to go off my diet. (She always does - she's not supportive of my goals...) So, I am thinking ahead to figure out how I can be consistent with the obstacles ahead of me. I will for sure go to the gym each day, and I'll follow my usual routine there. Maybe I can pick out the places we eat ahead of time, and I can find food I will be happy to eat without it looking like I'm dieting. I can also go grocery shopping and have things ready for us to eat. I really don't want to go backwards.

Gym Classes

Sunday, January 02, 2011

I have been going to my gym now for the last month. I am loving it! They have great classes which I really love. I take boxing twice a week. I take Gravity classes which are like the Total Home Gym in class form. I take Yoga three days a week. And, lastly, I spin five times per week. I spend about 10 hours per week exercising, but I don't feel tired at all. I am so happy I made the plunge and joined this gym.
