Asylum - Day 25

Thursday, November 01, 2012

Game Day and Overtime!!!! Whew!!!! The longest workout ever! OK, maybe not - it just feels that way. 75 minutes of pure hard work. I had a lot more fun this time even though I was even more out of breath than last time. I think I did better, but who knows. I was able to do some of the totally out of reach exercises of Overtime, so I do feel I conquered something. I'll be happy to do this program again just for this Game Day. it really is fun to me for some reason.

Asylum - Day 24

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Strength. OK, we're coming to the end of the program. This is my last strength workout session. I can honestly tell you that I not only feel stronger, I can see muscles forming. Of course, muscle growth really takes about 6 weeks for real change, but I think with the Insanity prep and now Asylum, my muscles are popping!! I was actually able to go down and do real pushups today. Of course, by the end I couldn't go as far down as I did when I started, but that's OK. I'm working on it. I also have no problem doing this workout with 8 pound weights. I was told those would be too heavy for me, but really the 5 pound weights were light. I would like to do this with Volume 2, so maybe I can up the game a bit by adding in the 10 pound weight at times. Not all the time, mind you, but I think I could handle the 10 pounders for a lot of the exercises. Ha, ha, listen to me! I'm really not that strong, but I sure feel that way tonight!

By the way, I wondered why I got all off with the numbering and everything. For some reason SP is seeing me from the East Coast, even though the times logged are for me here in California. It throws me off that it says I already posted a day when really I posted at 9:30 P.M. the night before. Ugh! Does anyone know why that happens? It's only on the blog posts as far as I can tell.

Hi - I kind of stumbled onto your blog... it sounds like you are doing GREAT, I can only wish that I was so motivated to exercise!!

As to the time of your posts being off -- did you set the "local time" on your account page? (it can be found on the "start" page, under "my trackers", right under where it says "start" in the upper left corner.) Hope that helps!

Asylum - Days 22 & 23

Rest & Speed and Agility. It was hard to take Monday off, but I did per the schedule. Today turned out differently than I thought it would. I thought I would be on top of my game because of the rest. Ha, ha! I was breathless and totally uncoordinated. What happened??? I can say that I'm increasing my speed and doing better which is why I was more breathless than the last time, but uncoordinated?? I can't believe how many left feet I must have! At one point I jumped on the ladder which flew out from underneath me. Down I went - BOOM! I'm lucky I'm in better physical shape and didn't seem to do any damage. Wow! No more days off!!!!!

It is wild how those two-left-feet days come. Great job getting through it and not hurting yourself:)

Glad you didn't hurt yourself! I guess we all have those uncoordinated times and days. No more days off sounds good and you are almost done!

Asylum - Day 21

Back to Core. 12 minutes cardio (jumping jacks - that's it) and 36 minutes strength. It really works the back. Because the Game Day soreness in my butt is still there, I really felt today's workout -everywhere - not just the back. I've been able to figure out what to do for the reverse planks where I still work but don't hurt the back of my knees and wrists. Yay! It only took me a couple of times through! Asylum really is paying off. I haven't seen big weight loss numbers, but I feel smaller and stronger. I've had several people this week tell me they notice I have lost weight, so something must be happening.

Asylum - Day 20

Vertical Plyo AND Overtime. I was supposed to do Overtime with Game Day, but didn't have time. I ended up TRYING to do it with Vertical Plyo. I say "trying" because for such a short workout (about 10 minutes), the exercises are super tough. There were a few I just couldn't do physically. These had to do with kneeling/squatting down and then jumping up to do some move and then going back down in the kneeling position. My knees just can't take exercises like that. I went super slow and had to modify. I felt that this was not the best workout for me, which is disappointing. Up until now I felt like I could do anything Shaun T. threw at me. Maybe I couldn't do it right away or as fast, but I could always work my way up. With these couple of exercises, there is no way I'll be able to do them - ever. It is only a short workout to do in conjunction with the others, but it's still disappointing to me. I thought I was much better than I guess I am...

Don't get to down on yourself. I know how you feel and it is hard. But, we just do the best we can and move on. Who knows, maybe in the future you could surprise yourself and actually do something you thought you could never do!
