Day Nine: Chest & Back

Friday, June 28, 2013

Day 9: Chest & Back (63 minutes) - I enjoy this workout. I still get annoyed by the instructor, but now just tune her out and focus on the work. Last week I felt a bit sore the next day, so I'm expecting that again. I guess the reason this workout is good is because you do the basic exercises with enough reps and then enough sets that it breaks down the muscle to be effective. I also use the exercise ball on this one, and I like using the ball!

I also did some other lunges, leg lifts, bicep curls, triceps kickbacks, and plank holds just to round it all out.

I have learned a lesson here, though, yet again! I didn't have time in the morning to do my workout, so I planned to do it at lunchtime at work. I kept getting interrupted, and the exercise was pushed and pushed. I finally got it all done about 6 P.M. - still at work - but it was tough to squeeze it in. I have to remember to just wake up super early if I want to get my exercise in. Otherwise, I find that it's too hard for me to get it done. I almost skipped the workout because of the stress of trying to squeeze it in, but I felt committed in doing it, thank goodness!

Glad you enjoyed this one despite the instructor. It can be hard to get up early to get in a workout but it sounds like the best option for you! Hope it works!

Sabrina - emoticon that you figured out what works best for you and how you pushed through to get your workout in even when it was not at your normal time. You're right that's committment and dedication. Even if it's next week sometime, whenever you get a chance don't forget to share some recipes with me.

Day Eight: Cardio

Thursday, June 27, 2013

Day 8: Cardio (54 minutes) - Yay! The second week has begun!! I was thinking of adding something to this workout, but once I finished this morning, I was already late for work, so nothing additional but my usual walking. The workout was fine. I am doing mainly the advanced versions of the exercises and get a good sweat going. I think I'll add another workout when it comes around again on Sunday.

I have to also state here that I'm extremely happy that I lost one pound this week. I have been at the same weight for almost three months. It was the worst plateau I've ever experienced. I know it's because of my surgery and my body getting adjusted to everything, but I can honestly say that by adding this exercise program to my list of things to do, one pound came off. Yay! I am this much closer to my goal weight. Hooray!!!

A pound gone is great!

I'm just off a plateau too. They can be discouraging, but even when I wasn't losing the exercise helped me feel better.

So happy for your victory!

Day Seven: XTF Arms

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

Day 7: XTF Arms (49 minutes) - This, as entitled, is all about the arms. The workout was OK. Simple, but effective. I don't know why this workout didn't grab me, though. There's just something lacking. Anyway, I do feel my arms got a good workout. I think that I may jump to the more advanced week tomorrow rather than repeating this same grouping again. Or, maybe I'll do this program as prescribed, but add other workouts to it. Hmm... I'm not sure. I just don't feel I'm doing all I can.

I did the usual Tuesday strength training exercises I have been doing, including sit ups, squats, and plank holding. I was really happy that my stomach felt a bit sore AND a bit hard. Hooray!!!!

Sounds good! If you don't feel like you are getting enough of a workout, maybe you should add something or skip ahead a bit. Whatever works best for you! Keep it up Sabrina!

Day Six: Hard Core & Stretch

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

Day 6: Hard Core & Stretch (54 + 26 minutes) - Extremely nice easy day. The ab workout was good for sure, but not that taxing really, even if it was 54 minutes long. I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow, but certainly didn't have a problem working the advanced routine. The stretch was ok. There are other programs which have better stretch workouts, so I may change up both the abs and stretch DVD's from this program with others I have used. I'll see, though. I don't want to go too far off the deep end...

I also got a really nice power walk in today - more than my usual. I made sure to wear a tee shirt so that my shoulders wouldn't get any more burned (!), but did wear shorts hoping to get some sun on these white legs of mine. It's hard to believe I live next to the ocean when it comes to my tanning abilities. Ha, ha! I'm happy that I finally feel comfortable wearing shorts anyway, so I guess the white legs aren't so bad.

You crack me up on what you call "easy"! Superwoman! I don't really tan anymore. Hormonal stuff makes me get patchy brown and red blotches. I try to use the sunscreen, but my nose is perpetually red in the summer. We joke that I am a Swede/Finn on top and a Romanian from the shoulders down. My legs look pale yellow right now. It is simply lovely! LOL

Those nice and easy days are a really nice break from time to time! You probably will be a little sore tomorrow but it sounds like a pretty good workout overall. If you feel better substituting something else in, give that a shot and see if you would prefer that over what you are doing.

Day Five: Cardio

Monday, June 24, 2013

Day 5: Cardio (54 minutes) - OK, back to the first workout again. I tried it with the music on, but didn't really get into the techno music. I did like the workout better this time, though. I was able to work harder than the first time and had fun. The 54 minutes went by pretty quickly. Yay!!

I spent a lot of the day at the garden. I got a sunburn, though, unfortunately. It was difficult doing anything with my hand in a soft cast, but I got by. I can imagine I will have an odd tan line going pretty soon!

Oh no, I didn't know you had to have a soft cast because of your injury. Sorry:( hee hee on the tan lines.

I don't mind techno, but only for short periods. Worked with someone who was really into it and would have it playing all day and the beat coming through his earbuds would drive me wacky after the first hour. The boyfriend enjoys it and whenever he has driven my car, the next day I get in and it is jamming when I start it up. :/

Congrats on the WO. Can't believe you are at day 5:)

Hope that sunborn goes away quick! Can't blame you for not liking the techno music but I am glad you enjoyed the workout! It is nice when the time seems to fly by in a workout but you still feel like you got a lot done!
