Day 65 Feeling worn

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

1) What new habit you wish to develop? DONE
2) How will you do that? DONE
3) What are you doing to encourage yourself and keep on track? DONE
4) How are you doing day by day? DONE
5) What can you improve upon? DONE
6) Do you need some motivation or advice? Ask for it!
7) Anything else you would like to share with your Team

What can I improve upon? Hard question tonight. Only a few min exercise today, not so good meals on the run, a class after work. I hope I have time to blog about this over the weekend, but as worn as I feel at the moment, I continue to carry the peace of my retreat into the busy-ness. I can't focus on "Needs to Improve" tonight.

Gratitude:
That I can go to bed in a few minutes
That today is over the hump
That I was finally able to catch up on some of my work
That husband is home
That daughter was on the phone when I got home after my class

Day 64 Gotta be a better one!

Did NOT do well first week of challenge; too much going on around daughter's move. This week is going much better with food and exercise in spite of work, etc. Did a yoga video this morning, got in a few extra fitness min by moving something while doing something else. I am hoping for a spare min or two for a short walk on break. Yesterday it was like WHAT BREAK?

PM edit: Well...the car had nothing serious wrong, and the phone is working; otherwise, this was nearly a repeat of yesterday at work. Hopefully, the little drama that's consumed the last several days has burned itself out. Midday after another THING, I said to myself, "I'm NOT going to eat lunch in the car; I'm going to sit here with my computer OFF and eat my lunch." So I did, and it occurred to me to watch a slide show of pics of the retreat house I was at less than two weeks ago. I looked at the pics of ocean, snow, and seals on the rocks and BREATHED before trekking off to the north county location for the rest of the day.

Gratitude list:
1. Husband gets home tonight
2. Nothing major wrong with car, and I can pick it up tomorrow
3. A peaceful and healthy lunch instead of rushing around and eating on the run
4. A good nap after dinner, knowing I'll be up later than my early bedtime
5. An email from the lovely person who had fostered my big sweet boy kitty; I'd sent her some pictures of him.
6. :-) Talked with daughter in Seattle
7. Figured out another small part of my job; I've had so much to learn, much of it on my own
8. My reaction to the last two days of stuff at work has been mostly centered and didn't spiral into overeating
9. I've kept up with my resolution to do a daily SP video this week
10. It's now Mar 5, and husband and I have kept up with his idea of reading the Bible through in a year together.
11. My current audiobook, People of the Book, for my doubled commute this week
12. I get to go in to work late tomorrow for the extra time I've put in the last two days! YAY!

Day 63 cont'd: And I thought last Monday was hectic

Monday, March 04, 2013

Whew. I was thinking this Monday had to be better than last. Work got crazy, I was sent on runs to south and north county, got back 15 min after I'm supposed to go home, and got a phone call that took up the next hour. Here we go again: I AM SO TIRED.

Did I add that while driving from one end of the county to the other, my engine light came on? And that my home phone stopped working? Had to call husband in Seattle to see what to do about the phone, asked my mom to come meet me at the car shop so I could drop mine off to be checked out. My mom is great at listening to moans, and she took me out for dinner. I chose a not fancy but quiet place and requested that we NOT be seated near anyone else.

I have one major thing to do this evening and am going to bed as soon as I can. Today's mess at work messed up tomorrow's schedule as well, and I will again be trekking from one end of the county to the other while trying to get my work done. ARGHH.

1398 calories
15 fitness minutes and I may add qi gong video if I have time before bed.
33 fitness minutes; I did the video and a couple extra min stretches. That was worth the extra time.

Those are stellar numbers for a highly stressful day!

Day 63 How to encourage myself - got it!

Monday, March 04, 2013

1) What new habit you wish to develop? DONE
2) How will you do that? DONE
3) What are you doing to encourage yourself and keep on track? DONE
4) How are you doing day by day?
5) What can you improve upon?
6) Do you need some motivation or advice? Ask for it!
7) Anything else you would like to share with your Team

Another Sparker's blog reminded me of something I did when I first very successfully started SP. I added daily positive notes to my nutrition tracker. No matter how I had eaten, the note had to be affirming and positive; self-criticism is self-destructive. Any choice can be a learning experience.

So, that's what I'm going to do for #3, this time on my fitness tracker to give myself a pat on the back for two days in a row of SP videos. Yay me!

Edit: Good question, FUNKY5RED. Scroll down toward the bottom of the fitness or nutrition tracker. There's a place that says Today's Fitness Notes or Today's Nutrition Notes. You can comment on your own activity. I determined when I first found that feature to write only positive notes to myself. I did it every day, and that's a habit I'm going to resume.

What a great idea! How did you add the notes to your tracker? We all need positive feedback, especially from ourselves. Thanks for the idea!

Day 62 strategy

Sunday, March 03, 2013

1) What new habit you wish to develop? DONE
2) How will you do that? DONE today
3) What are you doing to encourage yourself and keep on track?
4) How are you doing day by day?
5) What can you improve upon?
6) Do you need some motivation or advice? Ask for it!
7) Anything else you would like to share with your Team

OK, question #2 How am I going to develop my new/rerun habit? JUST DO IT. I've taken advantage of spare minutes for a bit of stretching, and I'm going to do the SP qigong video. That one is so gentle, I can do it when I'm dead tired. I'm not; I slept really well last night, but have needed to rest today before back to work tomorrow.

My major efforts have gone into trying two SP recipes. I took Simple Quinoa and Vegetables to a potluck and have enough left for tomorrow's lunch. I made Sweet Potato Black Bean Soup for my dinner. Good thing it's only 97 calories per serving. I didn't do as well on the potluck as I thought I did. I'm going to be a bit over calories, but not too much over--good incentive to do some more exercise.

End of day edit:
20 min exercise - 5 stretching + qi gong video
1588 calories - not bad, not bad, only 38 cal over the top

Did you like the soup? Did your husband like it?

That's a great idea starting back easy with your exercise videos. Although - I know you love those videos as much as I love running! I love your perserverance!
