Getting back into my routine

Friday, December 28, 2012

Today was my first day back in the gym after a few weeks layoff. It hurts just a little, boy, one forgets how even a small break from your routine can set you back.

The gym was very quiet (semester break) and I had no problem getting access to the track or the machines...so I had no excuse for not getting my workout in.

It's all good, I have the weekend to recuperate.

Back in the real world?

Thursday, December 27, 2012

Today was my first day back....it was so quiet. Normally our office has about 25 people, today only 5. talk about silent night.

So after a wonderful Christmas and a day to recuperate I am getting back into the work mode and that also means that all the extra stuff that was sent our way, cookies, sugar, cakes, candies etc...are slowly making their way into the trash can.

Today I weighed in and believe it or not, I only added 1 pound. I was so pleased. Now it is back to working out and finding ways to get some tennis in. I am very proud that I have lost 25 lbs and look forward to reaching my goal of 185 by May. I will keep you posted.

There's got to be a morning after....

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

All of you old enough to remember that song from the Poseidan Adventure (what a great disaster flick) will probably think that today's post is going to be about some horrendous story from yesterday. Sorry, but yesterday was great. Having a day filled with loved ones, great food, and new memories is always good in my book.

But, as with anything, there is indeed a morning after when we begin the clean up from the day before and have a moment to reflect on what just happened. I know when we go through this time of year we wonder if we have lost the meaning in the midst of the business, maybe we do, but today is a time to capture all the great things that happened this season. It is a time to reflect and give thanks for allvthe blessings we have.

So today I regain control of my diet and my exercise routine and thank God for the blessings visited upon me this season by all my loved ones.

Amen! Even as a little girl (50 years ago) I've always hated the 'busy-ness' and commercialism of the holidays.

It's good to be able to pause and reflect on the blessings we have.

And yes, I do remember that song and PA was a great flick.

Merry Christmas

Tuesday, December 25, 2012

Its Christmas! I hope all the scurry was worth it! Every year I say I am going to stop, but each season I get all wrapped up in the season. Today, it was worth it. The joy of seeing the smiles and happiness when what you thought was a good gift was indeed a good gift makes it worth the hassle.

But lest you think it's about things, it is more than anything about family, loved ones, and creating that arsenal of wonderful memories that carry you through the rough patches.

So here's to Christmas, I hope your day is filled with boundless joy and love as we celebrate this day with family and friends.

Blessings and peace.

There is a reason!

Monday, December 24, 2012

So today is Christmas Eve! I sure hope that you are ready for the whirlwind of activities that culminate tomorrow when we celebrate this special day. I was thinking back around what led to me even being on this site, the day that I realized I needed to get some control over my life. On that day I hit an all time weight high - 228 lbs - and I realized that the lethargy and health complications were not going to stop by themselves - someone needed to take control. That someone was me!

So here I am 5 months later, slowly regaining control over my body. Down 25 lbs., working out more consistently (still need to improve there), and finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel - my goal of getting to 189. All because I took up the sport I have loved since I was a teen - tennis - which provides a significant athletic challenge and a great social outlet. All good.

So as we prepare for tomorrow I just want to thank each and every one of you for all the support and encouragement you offer to me and to all the others who are working towards becoming their best selfs. You have helped make me better and I hope I can do the same as well!

Merry Christmas to each and everyone of you! May your day be filled with love and joy!
