Rain, Rain, Go Away... My little ones want to PLAY!

Friday, July 08, 2011

The girls have been wanting to take an afternoon walk to the park all week and every day we have had a rain storm. Today it was sunny so we set out to walk to a park about 1/2 mile from the house. It was hot, but a beautiful sunny afternoon. The girls were able to play about 15 minutes when a dark cloud came up and a HUGE clap of thunder sounded. Needless to say we started back home. It started sprinkling huge, hard drops. We picked up the pace as much as their short little legs could go. Just as we got in the bottom dropped and it started hailing. Within a couple of minutes it stopped and the sun came back out. We can still hear thunder so we don't want to venture out again just yet. Later this evening we have plans to go to the Irish Festival. I hope the rain is gone by then, or we will have to change our plans.

Maybe tomorrow will be a better day for a nice long walk and some outside play time.

Summer Fun with Pics

Tuesday, July 05, 2011

I love summer! I get to spend an entire month or more with my 2 precious granddaughters. These are some things we have done in the last week or so.

Welcome to Colorado!!

My daughter was here with the girls for a few days and we went to the Renaissance Festival.

We went to 3 parks.

The girls played in the hot tub.

They made their own pizzas.

We went to the library for story time and crafts.

And we watched fireworks!

I still have 2 weeks with them here, then we are heading back home where I will spend 2 more weeks with them in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas visiting with my family.

I emoticon summer!!!

Gardening and Yard Pics

Thursday, June 16, 2011

We have been working in our yard and gardens for a few weeks now and I thought I would share what we have done.

This is what it looked like in the beginning.

When we finished building, we added some dirt, flowers, shrubs, and other features.

This is our herb garden.

    Rhonda,

Beautiful gardens! Since I live in the mountains, the good lord does my flower garden and plants my trees for me. I grow potatoes because only certain vegetables grow up here. We have a green house that allows us to grow tomatoes, spinach and herbs.

Thanks, Bruce

Great job on the gardens. It is so worth the time and effort to enjoy the beauty of summer.
I should post a few more of the photos as the garden transitions from one flowering season into the next.

Running and Weekend Plans

Friday, June 10, 2011

I just got back from a great run. I did 3 miles and feel fantastic! My left leg had been bothering me since my 10K last week, so I have been taking it easy. Today, I pushed a little harder and feel fine. I made sure to use my foam roller before heading out and some stretching when I got home. I have also been doing a little strength training on my legs each day. Guess it's all working together. I'm not crazy though, tomorrow I will not run, but walk. Rest days are important! I learned my lesson last summer with 3 stress fractures and shin splints that kept me off the road for several months. I don't want to go there again. Besides, I have to be ready for the Rock n' Roll HM in October.

I love emoticon

Changing the subject............ Sunday, my husband and I have been invited to the installation of new Prioress at Bent Hill monastery. My husband is a therapist and one of his colleagues is a nun. She is leaving the practice (all but one day a week) to be the Prioress. We are honored that she would invite us and are very excited about going.

As for the goals I set for myself this week on Monday - I am meeting them every day!! emoticon Thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement.

Well, time for some lunch. Until later.........
