I got my Christmas wish!

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

The cast came off yesterday. My mobility and range of motion for my wrist is, according to the doctor "Better than I would have expected without surgery". It is still a little weak so he gave me a splint similar to the "boot casts" they have for ankles. He wants me to use it for about 2 weeks. I also have a set of exercises to strengthen the muscles and tendons.

Now to detox my system to purge it of the pain pill residue. emoticon

Thank you all for your prayers during this trial.

Praise God

Saturday, December 17, 2011

Okay, that may be early...

I am praying that my cast comes off on the 20th, Tuesday. If not... I will deal with that then.

I am able to type with both hands, but only at 15 or 20 words per minute, normally I type 90 words a minute on a bad day. It causes discomfort to my arm, palm of the hand, fingers, etc. I am doing what a physical therapist would have me do with a physical therapy ball to strengthen the hand and fingers by typing with the cast still on. Been there, done that with my right hand in 2004. I am really wanting the cast off - the lack of total mobility is driving me NUTS!

On a family note, my grand daughter needs more prayer over custody of her youngest daughter. Her ex is being a nut case again, in court this time. His lawyer accused her in open court of being a "warlock". Aren't they male?? If so, how could a woman be one. Pause for a deep breath... (okay that was for my benefit - I get stressed over the drama).

Kay-O. Prayers would be appreciated.

I love all of my SP friends and teams. You have all supported me with your advice, encouragement and/or prayers.

Have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful new Spark-Year!

Faith

Friday, December 02, 2011

Faith is:

Believing before seeing. Heb 11:1

Having what we NEED - not our wants - a real biggie. God gives to us so abundantly. Those of us who are blessed more than others should see it as our duty to bless others.

Not listening to an earthly man (preacher) but searching the scriptures daily for our guidance. "Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free".

Keeping our spirituality and life free from ridicule. The world wants to negate our witness so we need to be without reproach.

I really want to "let my light" (for Jesus) shine daily. He is my all in all.

I pray that we all, especially myself, can let all we meet to know the "reason for the season" as we approach Christmas.

Love to all my fellow Sparkies.

Have a blessed Christmas.

Ruth

Still Healing

Thursday, December 01, 2011

My wrist is still healing. I have better use of my fingers and thumb so with using them more it explains the "different" pain I feel now. Like my favorite scripture says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".

I am still in a cast, Dec 20th will be 6 weeks and 3 days since I broke it. I am praying that the cast comes off on the 20th. It would be nice to have total use of the arm and hand before Christmas. emoticon

Thank you for sharing and up-dating us on how things are coming along, here's hoping the cast comes off on the 20th of December. Now that would be a great Christmas present, having the cast off and the total use of your hand & arm. You sure have a caring and loving husband, what a blessing he is to you. I'm thrilled you are eating more fruits and veggies, good job. emoticon emoticon My prayers are with you as always, I'm standing with you cheering you on your journey. Thanks again for joining Shining for Jesus Team, we are thrilled to have you on-board, God Bless! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and prayers.

I have been eating more fruits and veggies since I broke my arm. Partly because I am in transition to Vegetarian and partly because I just need to open the fridge and take something out when DH is not home. He has been so good to me through this and chops up veggies & opens cans for me when I am up to cooking and peels my oranges and grapefruits for me in the morning before he leaves for the day. I am very thankful he is in my life.

I read your previous blog and see you broke your left wrist (That's the one I broke, too, several years back). I know you are SO ready to be out of that cast and get that arm strong again! Those 6 weeks in a cast seemed to drag by. The 20th will be here before you know it!

I have had 4 hand surgeries (due to work stress) and even though I am right handed, it is surprising how many things we take for granted need both hands.

Hope your healing continues on schedule.

I have had a few close calls when falling, landing on my hands and/or back, but never broke anything from falling.

So far I have only broken a toe when walking around in the dark and got my toes around a door and broke the 2nd toe. (Note to self: Dont walk around in the dark barefoot!!!)

Hope you get it off before Christmas. I am 60 and have never broke anything yet. I THANK THE LORD FOR THAT ! My parents died from lung cancer from smoking at 45 and 46 and my brother is 55 and on oxygen and has lung cancer. THANK YOU FOR QUITING ! emoticon

Arm Update

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

I had a doctor's appt today for my wrist. They took 3 x-rays and the bones are mending good, better than any of us expected without surgery. I have a follow-up on Dec 20th.

I'm still on pain meds but the dr said that will lessen as the swelling decreases. The pain, he explained is from his molding the cast to force the tendons to remain taut while the bones mend so the tiny bones in the top of the hand don't shift toward the wrist.

I can deal with the pain, it is the inactivity that drives me batty. emoticon I am used to being more active!

My thanks for all the prayers.

Ruth
