Thursday in the 'Burgh!

Thursday, April 05, 2012

Leaving Calgary on Thursday morning.
I'm so NOT a morning person but getting up at the crack of crazy is worth it when you're about to meet some of your closest online friends in real life for the very first time. I was nervous but I had to at least act relaxed or it would rub off on Roo. I only had a few minor meltdowns between walking into the airport and actually getting onto the airplane. Thank goodness that Trish was just a text away and Paul was there to hold my hand.

My goofy little traveling companion.
This is the face that she wore for *most* of the trip. She cried a little when we first got on the plane, she bumped her head on the armrest, but other than that she was the perfect flyer.

My Thursday night dinner companions
Oh my goodness! I can't even make words to describe what meeting these people meant to me. Lynn, Anne, Deej, Gloria, Bobby and Larry - I am STILL overwhelmed. Judi, Trish and Nancy, reuniting with you was a comfort that I needed. Wood/Larry, if Sparkpeople meet-ups have a wish list, you are/where top 5 of mine. I'm so glad that you and Luv made the trip and I got to get to meet you. You will forever be one of my Spark heros. I hope that someday our paths cross again. I am so thankful that this day happened the way that it did.

Best roomie ever!
Suezette and I have been Sparkfriends for forever. She's my emoticon and I love her to bits.

And so began the adventure.........

Penny, you may not believe this but it's very true. You brought tears to my eyes this evening. (yes, I did have brandy first) But for you to refer to me as one of your spark heroes is so ironic, because you have always been one of mine. I have always been a sap for success stories and look at you, you're exactly what I want to happen to people - to go from someone who is not quite happy with themselves to someone who has become healthy and beautiful. You will always be one of the people I point to as one who has done it! BTW, Cassie (Judy has sent me some photos - my favorite is me holding Roo (Emily) I love it! She's just as beautiful as her mother. What a lucky little girl she is. It was such an honor meeting you. I am only sorry that we had such a limited time togenther.

Life is good!

It was all pretty sweet!!! I love reading the blogs and reliving, listening to how others saw things playing out. You are a sweetheart, and I love that you trusted Roo to me during the race. Love you girl - can't wait til we "resume" again (did you notice that we both had the same thoughts for Nancy's blog - I love that).

This is crazy: I woke up at 4am this morning from a dream about you and I hanging in a motel room talking about Suzette and her tan and Trish with her back all better. You filled me in on the JASR weekend. And I got to meet Roo.

E - ENGAGE - Post at least once a day in either the Challenge Hall or Clubhouse 20 pts per day
T - TRACK your food each day (on Spark, journal or other nutrition website) 20 pts per day

Productive day

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Or at least it was from about 3:00 on. It took me that long to get my butt in gear and attempt to accomplish stuff. My "list" of things to do today was short but meaningful.
What I did:
~ go to stroller group and run club. - CANCELLED - Two moms had cranky babies & I didnít want to walk alone.
~ drink 64 ounces of water. -DONE
~ consume a minimum of 5 fruits and vegetables. - DONE
~ keep on top of a few housekeeping duties. - DONE
~ turn my rolled coins in to the bank for USD. - DONE
~ take the recyclables in. - DONE - $20.45 (score!!)
What I didn't do:
~ take my wedding rings to the second hand store to see if I can sell them.

My stroller tried to do me in tonight. Something is wrong with one of the back tires and, when I tried to go from walking to running, it started to wobble like it was going to fall off. Scared the dickens out of me. Needless to say I didn't get my hill training in. I did do two good laps around our "lake" while the rest of the HM group ran 4 hills. I have to have this looked at before I head to Pittsburgh. My life will be difficult if I don't have my stroller in tip-top shape. One more thing to add to the revolving list. Well that and run my 4 hills that I was supposed to run tonight. emoticon

While the cat's away.....

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

The momma is trying to stick to "the plan" and Roo is learning more about swimming. Yesterday, I blew off my workout emoticon and stayed home all day. I woke up feeling like someone had taken sandpaper to my throat. I *could* have gone to bootcamp, I just didn't. I now owe Kidsport $15. On the plus side, plenty of fruits and vegetables were consumed and I made my water quota. Mostly because of my tea w/honey.

Today, Roo and I went to her second swimming lesson. IT WAS AWESOME! First, the instructor had us dip their chins in and then put them in a back float. We're not allowed to really hold them so I just kept a handle on the frills of her swimsuit. Next we had to submerge them. This made me seriously nervous as I'm not very comfortable dipping my own head in the water BUT I/we did it. She rocked it. She also made it through the double submerge w/o freaking out. More than once. I was such a proud momma.
My calories today are even better than they were yesterday. I consumed MORE fruit and vegetables than I usually ask of my meal plan. Water's a little lacking but I've not gone to bed yet.

I got the cutest picture of Roo today. Paul was on Skype talking to her and she was listening to every word through the headphones and watching every silly face he made.

Anyway, my goals for Wednesday are:
~ go to stroller group and run club.
~ drink 64 ounces of water.
~ consume a minimum of 5 fruits and vegetables.
~ keep on top of a few housekeeping duties.
~ turn my rolled coins in to the bank for USD.
~ take my wedding rings to the second hand store to see if I can sell them.
~ take the recyclables in.

Big list. I hope I get to check it all off. All I need to do is stay organized.

It always amazes me how well babies do in the water. And that picture of her with the headphones... she looks so intent! Love it! Glad you're feeling a little better - hope it keeps improving. And I need to get moving on more fruits and vegetables too. And household chores. Maybe I'll make those my two goals for today. Have a great day, Penny! (When does Paul get home?)
