BLC weekend challenge

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

WEDNESDAY is WEIGH-IN DAY emoticon 137

Wednesday is also WATER, WATER, WEDNESDAY! Focus on getting your water in! emoticon

THURSDAY is TNT (Tighten 'n Tone) -DIDN'T HAPPEN

FRIDAY through MONDAY, we'll have another weekend challenge! Are you READY for BLC? Last weekend we got SET, so it must be time for GOOAAAALLLLLLLL:

G - Goals - Plan for the next 12 weeks - how will YOU be successful? Write a BLOG or in your tracker some REASONABLE, ATTAINABLE goals! Of course, Spark has some ideas
_articles.asp?id=1595 Write your goals down and earn 20 points (one time only)

O - ON TRACK! Your goal this weekend is to TRACK your food. Either on Spark, another online tracking program or in a personal journal (10 points per day you write down EVERYTHING you eat - BONUS 10 points per day each day you MEET one or more of your nutrition goals - # veggies, calorie range, sodium range, fiber range)

A = AGUA Get at least 8 8oz waters in each day. Water will help Rev that Metabolism into High Gear! Anyone can do this even if you are on vacation or not able to be online or whatever other reason you can come up with. (10pts/day)

L - LAST, but not least (yeah, that's cheating, but GOAM didn't work for me), MOVE! This weekend, let's try and spend some QUALITY time with our sneakers. Use the Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) scale in this article:
_articles.asp?id=1044 and get at least 15 minutes of exercise in the mid range (meaning that your heart rate is up and you feel like you are working pretty hard! Between 5-7 on a scale of 1 [resting] to 10 [maximal exertion]) (10pts/day)
G is a one time 20 points, but for O - L, here's your tracker:

GOAL: 20/20
ON TRACK: F 10/10 S 10/10 10/10 M 10/10 = 40/40 (track all food)
ON TRACK BONUS: F 10/10 S 0/10 S 0/10 M 10/10 = 20/40 (meet a nutrition goal)
AGUA: F 10 /10 S 10/10 S 10/10 M 10/10 = 40/40 (8 8oz glasses water)
LET'S MOVE IT: F 10/10 S 0/10 S 0/10 M 0/10 = 10/40

TOTAL: 130/180

Thursday in the 'Burgh!

Thursday, April 05, 2012

Leaving Calgary on Thursday morning.
I'm so NOT a morning person but getting up at the crack of crazy is worth it when you're about to meet some of your closest online friends in real life for the very first time. I was nervous but I had to at least act relaxed or it would rub off on Roo. I only had a few minor meltdowns between walking into the airport and actually getting onto the airplane. Thank goodness that Trish was just a text away and Paul was there to hold my hand.

My goofy little traveling companion.
This is the face that she wore for *most* of the trip. She cried a little when we first got on the plane, she bumped her head on the armrest, but other than that she was the perfect flyer.

My Thursday night dinner companions
Oh my goodness! I can't even make words to describe what meeting these people meant to me. Lynn, Anne, Deej, Gloria, Bobby and Larry - I am STILL overwhelmed. Judi, Trish and Nancy, reuniting with you was a comfort that I needed. Wood/Larry, if Sparkpeople meet-ups have a wish list, you are/where top 5 of mine. I'm so glad that you and Luv made the trip and I got to get to meet you. You will forever be one of my Spark heros. I hope that someday our paths cross again. I am so thankful that this day happened the way that it did.

Best roomie ever!
Suezette and I have been Sparkfriends for forever. She's my emoticon and I love her to bits.

And so began the adventure.........

Penny, you may not believe this but it's very true. You brought tears to my eyes this evening. (yes, I did have brandy first) But for you to refer to me as one of your spark heroes is so ironic, because you have always been one of mine. I have always been a sap for success stories and look at you, you're exactly what I want to happen to people - to go from someone who is not quite happy with themselves to someone who has become healthy and beautiful. You will always be one of the people I point to as one who has done it! BTW, Cassie (Judy has sent me some photos - my favorite is me holding Roo (Emily) I love it! She's just as beautiful as her mother. What a lucky little girl she is. It was such an honor meeting you. I am only sorry that we had such a limited time togenther.

Life is good!
Larry (Wood)

It was all pretty sweet!!! I love reading the blogs and reliving, listening to how others saw things playing out. You are a sweetheart, and I love that you trusted Roo to me during the race. Love you girl - can't wait til we "resume" again (did you notice that we both had the same thoughts for Nancy's blog - I love that).

BLC weekend challenge (my first!)

Thursday, April 05, 2012

SET - our WEEKEND Challenge:

S - SWEAT - Get at least 20 minutes of intentional exercise* 20 pts per day
E - ENGAGE - Post at least once a day in either the Challenge Hall or Clubhouse 20 pts per day
T - TRACK your food each day (on Spark, journal or other nutrition website) 20 pts per day

* Intentional exercise is deliberate exercise that either gets your heart rate up for an extended period (for example, cardio for 10+ minutes) or works your muscles to exhaustion (toning exercises or lifting weights). Brisk walking counts, shopping doesn't. Cutting grass using a push mower might count (if it's challenging for you), but a riding mower doesn't.

Each day you get the maximum points (60), you get a bonus of 40 points. Maximum for challenge is 400 points

SWEAT: F 20/20 S 0/20 S 20/20 M 0/20 = 40/80
ENGAGE: F 20/20 S 20/20 S 20/20 M 20/20 = 80/80
TRACK: F 20/20 S 20/20 S 20/20 M 20/20 = 80/80
