Goal Setting Challenge (stolen from Bobby)

Friday, March 16, 2012

First Goal setting:

1) Fitness Related:
Do two additional workouts (besides running). I'm already scheduled to do a Mommy/baby bootcamp class on Monday and I have Burn on Thursday. All I have to do is not jam out on either.

2) Nutrition Related:
Stick to my spark eating plan (50/30/20) and go over allowed calories by no more than 450 (Roo's cals).

3) Personally Related:
Continue decluttering. Finding out that I couldn't sell ALL my used books to the bookstore gave me a "why bother attitude" that wasn't really warranted. Try, try again. Maybe Kijiji?

4) New-To-Me:
Sadly, I put on my "other goals" to walk Hughy every day and I haven't been. Next week, I will. Kick my butt if I don't.

There's a bookstore in Heritage Plaza, where the London Drugs is, that takes pretty well everything. Only problem is that they won't give you cash but rather store credit. Better than nothing.

For the month of March

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

I've attempted to put all my planned exercise on the calendar for the month of March. I've made a promise to myself that for every workout I skip for no good reason I'll donate $5 to Kidsport. www.kidsport.ab.ca/ I've 24 scheduled workouts, not counting Roo's swim classes, in 31 days. So far, I owe Kidsport $5. Possibly $10. I can't decide if this morning counts as a good reason. Neither of us slept well last night and she's not been feeling well. I *probably* could've gone but I wouldn't have been very cheerful or motivating to anyone in the stroller group. We'll see.

How do YOU keep yourself accountable? Has anything like this ever worked for you?

yeah, do NOT count today-sick babies should make the self-contract null and void. this is a great idea!

    What a great idea Penny! A reverse-reward system :)

And KidSport is such a great cause for a fitness person missing workouts. I don't think this morning counted. You were up most of the night with Roo, and she needed you nearby.

X-Weighted Connect Assignment #1

Wednesday, March 07, 2012

So, on Saturday, I attended the X-Weighted Connect event. This week is all about "Housekeeping". Or goal setting as it turns out. I have to journal the following:
*weight-loss goal - 128(ish) - my pre-pregnancy weight.
*current weight/BMI - 24 (normal)
*realistic time frame - in a perfect world, 10 weeks from now - May 16, 2012
**Why do I want to lose weight?
Currently, I do not feel like my "healthy" self.
**Why I don't want to lose weight?
I'm too comfortable?

Maybe. I don't really have anyone or anything pushing me to lose weight. I have four very good reasons to be healthier, though so I'm going to focus on that and hope that everything else falls into place. In the meantime, I'm going to ponder the reasons why and why not.

Some thought provokers there. Sounds like a neat workbook, and good for you to actually get the work done.

Yep, guess that's why you have a week to do this. They really are good questions.

I think my answer to the Why dont' I want to lose weight is same as yours... I'm comfortable with my lifestyle, and would have to add, I really like eating easy junkier food.

As for the why I want to lose weight... I guess that's why I started the Bucket List thread, to remind myself of all the fun things I want to do, that I really need to be fitter and healthier for. I suppose I should say because I want to be healthy for my husband and kids in my old age but that just isn't motivation enough for me.

Thanks for sharing! Will you go back again next saturday, or how will you get your next assignment? Feel free to share again! emoticon

6th of March

Wednesday, March 07, 2012

So far this month I've been doing okay. For my "no candy, no baked goods, no Tim Horton treats" to myself, I've had two slips. On Paul's birthday (03/02), I had cake. Yesterday, I was talking to my mom on the phone and felt a little stress. Before I knew it, I had unwrapped and eaten a piece of salt water taffy. The *good* news is, I put back the 4 others that I had in my hand and did not eat them.
I'm on a six day streak for drinking 64 ounces of water a day.
I'm 5/6 for fruits and vegetables.
I've been working out. I've been running. I've been tired.
emoticon
Today, Roo had her first swim lesson. She was such a good girl. The pool was "colder than usual" as per the instructor and we only had to go to the hot tub and warm up once. I was very proud.

Tomorrow is weigh-in day. On Friday, I'm going to get my trainer/friend Lisa to do my measurements for me. It's about time I start tracking something other than my weight. At the very least, it'll give me another inanimate object to yell at.

Penny - have I told you lately how you inspire me to keep on going. I love reading about your work-outs, your running, your fun & funny times with little Roo, and I especially love the way you "yell" at the scale. :)

Keep on going strong. You setting a great example for Little Roo. I can't wait to see you at JASR.

YAY!!! LOVE all the pics of you and Roo at the pool-her swimsuit is adorable!
And for you-super high 5s on putting that taffy back! I hope the measurements will show you all that you're doing is worth it. Mine sure did and I'm hoping for more of the same this month!

Good for you to put the rest of the salt water taffy away. Top marks for tat!
