Yesterday was day one (again). According to my Spark report, I burned 158 more calories than I consumed. It takes into account my BMR which is 1630.

Calories eaten: 1821 (81 over)
40 minute (5.5 km) run: 349 calories
Water: 2 litres
Fruit/veggies: 7 servings
General feeling: stressed, actually. Running in the snow didn't give me the usual "ahhhh" feeling I get from running. I'll get used to it again, I have no choice but last night was just "GRRR".

Today I don't have any exercise scheduled. Maybe I'll go toboganning with the kids and/or take the dog for a walk. Suddenly, I wish I had a Wii.

Any thoughts of trying a full marathon, or do you think you're going to stick with the 1/2 M distance? I'd be interested in your thoughts on the matter. emoticon

    Penny, What an inspiration you are. thanks for sharing this. It has been great fun getting to know you! New release of body pump today! my trainer said it is harder than the last. of course she would say that. Is your next Hm close to trish? you are giving her big hugs from me right?

Honesty is the best policy

even when you're talking to yourself.
It's time that I'm honest with myself. I'm not losing weight because I'm consuming too many calories. I'm gaining weight because I'm eating too much crap. I'm exercising but I could easily be doing more. I'm giving myself permission to slack off because my clothes still fit. Sure, they're not all comfortable ... but they fit.

If I were my own trainer, I would be kicking my ass right now.
So it's time to be my own trainer.

    Too true! For the first three months here I was diligent with my food consumption and tracking.

Since then, I have used an increase in my running as an excuse to play fast and loose with my food intake and tracking.

I capped it off this weekend with an anniversary celebration and too many buffet meals. By the end I felt like crap.

Glad to be home. Fresh start tracking tomorrow.

    Penny, if you were your own trainer you would say! " Penny forget about the past and look forward - start now to be betterand don't worry about what you have done in the past few weeks" We all need to tell ourselves this - it is such a hard thing to do. go forward and not backwards.

Not a great day...

2,186 calories consumed today....that's 446 too many. I burned 479 though so, theoretically, I still created a deficit BUT I'd rather not have eaten so much. Stupid chocolate chip muffin. They always know exactly what to say to get me to eat them. Then I went to the movie (G.I. Joe) and had fries with gravy. Resistance was futile.

Things I feel really good about today:
I went to the gym and did 45 minutes of strength training, 30 minutes of ab work and 10 minutes of (warm-up) cardio.
I ate 5 servings, maybe more, of fruits and vegetables.
I drank 2.25 L of water.
I went to bed at a decent hour and got up at 8:19 a.m. That means I got more than my goal of seven hours of sleep.
All in all, I'll give myself a silver star for this day. emoticon

    I am back to counting calories today. I have started my day counting calories at least 15 times in the past 4 week and never stuck with it more than 2 days. :-) I hope today it the start of a longer streak. You seem to be doing pretty good. Keep it up. gail

Six days and the end of a good week

I didn't get my seven hours of sleep on Thursday night but I have since then. I even snuck in a nap this afternoon. I've been good with the fruits and vegetables (water, too).
I ran over 30 kms overall. I went to BodyPump once but I never made it to the Awesome Abs class that I wanted to attend.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday were days were I went over my calories by 100-150. Having said that, I went over my calories burned goal by over 700. =) So I'm letting it go. This time.
Gotta round up the courage to step on the scale in the morning. Then I'm going to find some place that's open so I can have a mani/pedi and a brow waxing. I need a little "pamper me" time. Hopefully, I can sneak it in after Awesome Abs and before GI Joe LOL.
I swear, the closer I get to 40, the more energetic I'm feeling. I hope I can find an outlet for this or someone's going to be in trouble.

Tonight I took Hughy for a leisurely walk around the dogpark. He's been asleep since we got home. Probably means that I'm not going to get any....

They're so cute and innocent looking when they're sleeping.

    Awww, how cute is Hughy???? I love it when they crash....but when they wake up...watch out! I feel the same way about hitting the 50's-so much more energy. Don't think it's the age, it's the getting healthy. Tried to explain this to my son yesterday. You won't be so tired if you start taking yourself and get healthy! Why isn't we can't get that fact until a little later in life? Good job on having a great week. To quote Wood "Life is good!"
