I run for ice cream.

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

A few days ago, I was presented with a shirt that read "I run for ice cream". Tonight that's what I did. I ran 4 kms and burned 288 calories. Then I joined Richard and his family at the DQ for a butterscotch sundae. Truth be told, I still owe a 12 calorie burn to the calorie gods BUT I just did 49 pushups so I figure we're probably even.

The last two days haven't been where they should be nutritionally. I overdid the calories by 378 (average) per day. I'm right on target for meeting my burn goal tho'.

As for the goal that I set for myself. I got out of bed at 6:18 today. Today was close but I was SO tired. I should have seen the sleepless night coming when I had such a good day of sleep.... bummer.

Other goals for this week:
Monday - BodyPump - NOT DONE
Tuesday - Run 4 kms - DONE - 4.73 km in 30:26
Wednesday - 6 Hills
Thursday - Run 6 kms
Friday - BodyPump
Saturday - Awesome Abs
Sunday - Run 16 km

It sounds fair to me....I didn't run yesterday and I totally over ate...big I didn't earn any of it :(

Lol tonight we are planning a 9-10k run so I'm hoping that will at least earn me some redemption this week.

End of week 7

Monday, August 17, 2009

It's been a bad couple of weeks for fitness and nutrition. As a result, I now weigh 129.5 pounds. I haven't been to a class in two and a half weeks. I haven't been in my calorie range in forever. All that I have done with any consistency is run and that, unfortunately, is not enough.

I asked my team to take one bad habit and change it this week . My personal goal is to start getting up on time. Hitting the snooze button until I only have 20 or 30 minutes to get ready for work is too stressful and completely unnecessary. I managed to get up this morning 6 minutes after my alarm went off. I stayed under the sheets to listen to the morning news and traffic and then popped out of bed. So day one was a success.

Other goals for this week:
Monday - BodyPump
Tuesday - Run 4 kms
Wednesday - 6 Hills
Thursday - Run 6 kms
Friday - BodyPump
Saturday - Awesome Abs
Sunday - Run 16 km

Penny, You look awesome is that your son - you can do this its hard when life interupts us from getting our workouts - but we just have to do it. You know the benefits. Get back on horse and get it done. I did body pump today. I think I need to increase some of my weight it was way to easy today.

Consistency is a toughie. I am still trying to get back properly in sync since vacation. Food tracking and strength training are opportunities for improvement for me.

I actually lost ground in the push up challenge from one exhaustion test to the next (12 less push ups!) I'm climbing back on that horse. You in for more push ups?

Yay for getting out of bed! Its been a challenge for me lately too, especially since it just keeps getting darker outside in the morning.

My goal will be to actually track all my food this week...I fell off tracking on the weekend and I totally blew it, Lol I have to get over the "If I don't track it it doesn't count attitude!"

End of week four

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Monday - off - DONE
Tuesday - run 5 kms - DONE - 5.52 (0:35:33)
Wednesday - run 3 kms - DONE - 2.99 (0:17:14)
Thursday - run 4 kms - DONE - 4.1 (27:52) + 20 minutes of light yoga/stretching
Friday - BodyPump - NOT DONE
Saturday - Awesome Abs - DONE + strength and cardio
Sunday - run 10 km - DONE - 10.02 (1:10:12)

I even got the warning from Spark that I went over my calories burned.
Nutritionally, I didn't stay within my calories at all BUT I did consume significantly less than the week before. Bottom line, I'm down to 126 as of this morning and that's a four pound loss. (yay!)

My plan for this week looks just like last week:
Monday: off
Tuesday: 4 kms
Wednesday: 5 kms
Thursday: 3 hills/5 kms-ish:
Friday - drive to Cold Lake. Hopefully, some running around the rest areas.
Saturday through Sunday: Fishing and running

I do want to get the nutrition under control though. I overdid it today ..... I've got six days to improve.

30 Celsius? Are you kidding me?

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Sticking to the plan may kill me this week. Calgary seems to be heating up this summer. It just makes me want September to be here NOW. I'm longing for the cooler temperatures. BUT, I will continue to run whether I like the temps or not.
Having said that, I did 3 kilometres with the group tonight. I finished in 17:14 which is a 5:46 km. For me, that is a fast pace. I'm impressed with my time. It means I just told Mother Nature to get stuffed on more than one level.

I had five servings of fruit today. Three servings of vegetables. Elevenish glasses of water. Unfortunately, I ate 224 calories more than I should have. Since I only burned 179 on my run, I did NOT create the kind of deficit that I've been trying to achieve. I have four more days left in this week.... I won't let today ruin the good work I did on Monday and Tuesday. Besides, I still have my three favourite GL classes and another long run to do. emoticon

Penny, you are doing good! I think it is going to heat up this week - they are promising 100 f temps this week. I don't know about exercising in that kind of heat - but for me working is hard when it gets so hot. I will need to make sure I am hydrated. I am sure for you the temps will be warm also. good luck to you. be safe! Somebody invited me to a relay race next year. Hood to coast. you start and Mt hood and run to the Oregon Coast. 12 member team and each person rusn 3 legs - average 6 miles per leg. thanks so much for your friendship!!!!!!!!!
