5% Challenge Week 1 - Day 1

Calories today: 1801/1550
Fruit/Veggies: 7 servings 3/4
Water: 9 (2.25L)
Cardio/Strength: Strength training done as per tracker
Stretching: done

Today, with the exception of my peanut butter bar, was a good day. Even that wasn't too bad @ 175 cals. It was worth it because it was YUMMY. I bought it at a Heart & Stroke fund raising bake sale we had at the gym today. Colin and I each had one and the rest are in the freezer.

Planning ahead: I'm already starting to consider tomorrow's menu. I have a 4 or 5 kilometre run on the agenda, too. If I'm up for it, I'll do the FitFix at work again.

ETA: oops! I was getting the boys a snack and accidently had one of my own. I guess I really have to be more mindful of what I'm doing.

  


Monday Morning Check-In & the 5% Challenge

Today is the first day of the 5% challenge in my LIC group. I weighed in at 126 this morning. Not completely horrible but not where I want to be, for sure. The challenges this week are:

Nutritional - consume at LEAST 8 glasses of water per day.
Cardio - at LEAST 30 minutes on 5 out of 7 days.
Strength - at LEAST two good strength training workouts this week.
Stretching - remember to stretch after EVERY workout.
Blog at least twice.


I hope to get today's cardio & strength workouts in while I'm in between clients today. That's the plan anyway. After this weekend, maybe I should rest today and start the workouts tomorrow. We'll see.
I still have my own personal goal of staying within calories and getting a minimum of 5 servings of fruits and vegetables. It's mid morning and, so far, I've had 3.5 servings of fruit.... I think that I'll move on to veggies now.
All I have to do is plan the rest of my meals for today and everything should be A+.

Slowly getting back to normal

This cold has been beating me up for almost a week now. After sleeping most of Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and ignoring it the rest of the week, I'm starting to feel somewhat "normal".
After yesterdays snack fiasco, I decided that the elliptical would not be enough and headed into BodyPump class. When I was done THAT, I knew that I was back at square one re: snacking. The rest of the day I was a responsible eater and, although I don't know the nutrition info for my dinner at Richard's, I'm fairly confident that I didn't go too over my calories for the day.
Today so far, I've had a good breakfast, snack and lunch. I also spent 30 minutes in Awesome Abs class. I feel fine. It's gonna be painful to sneeze tomorrow but ATM, I'm fine.
Did I mention that I feel fine? (positive thinking at work here folks)

    OMG, you're sick too??? I had it for over a week and I'm finally feeling 98% me again (I still have 2% nasal congestion, but i'll take it!)

And it wasn't even a date square, after all....
I'm not sure who had the fantastic idea to bring in a platter of baked goods from Starbucks TO A GYM but I'm thinking I owe them a big kick in the pants. Actually, I'M the one who needs the kick in the pants but either way. I grabbed a "date square" and was happily enjoying it despite the fact that it turned out to be a Blueberry Oat Bar when I noticed the Banana Loaf. Not one to ever pass up homemade banana bread, I grabbed a slice of that, too. It was only after both were gone that I visited the Starbucks website for nutritional information. 660 calories! Ok, so I just ate more for snack time than I did for breakfast and pretty much took care of 1/3 of today's allotted calories in the process. CRAP. Good thing I work at a gym. If you need me, I'll be on the Elliptical machine.
Moral of the story: Research first, eat second.

  


Tired and hungry...

Today I spent the beter part of the day with my youngest son's fifth grade class at the Glenbow Museum and Police Interpretive Centre. I was so excited to go to the Museum because I've never been there... technically, I still have not been there. I did get to see a couple things but we went right to the room where our project was being done and stayed there. On the bright side, the children had a blast and they showed an amazing amount of creativity and I got to witness it.
On the downside..... my eating was all over the place because I did not get my snacks and I was STARVING when I did get to eat.

Calories today: 1916/1550
Fruit/Veggies: 2/3
Water: 8 (2L)
Cardio/Strength: none because, seriously, I'm just too frickin' tired. Dang cold. I did consider doing some strength training before I left work but then I yawned about 12 times and realized it was time to go home.

I'm really looking forward to Monday's weigh-in and the new 5% challenge. The trash talkin' has already started (all in fun) and it looks like it's going to be an exciting time in the LIC group for the next 10 weeks.
