September 24 Resolutions

Sunday, September 24, 2006

Here's what I completed from last weeks list:
- 8 to 10 cups of water ~everyday
- go to Yoga once ~Thursday
- run at least five kms twice ~Tuesday & Sunday
- ride my bike once ~Sunday
- go to the gym once ~Tuesday (B&B class)
- eat five servings of fruit and vegetables (total) per day ~everyday
- go for a 30 minute walk three times ~Thursday, Saturday & Sunday
- no coffee ~everyday

Oh yes! I did everything on my list! And the best part, this morning the scale read 137.5 That's only 1/2 pound away from my goal. How cool is that?
The boys are here this week so it'll be hectic-ish. Rather than change anything, I think the list will stay the same for this week.

3 days without coffee

Wednesday, September 20, 2006

Except for Monday, it's been going really well. The headache is gone and the nervousness has stopped. I can't imagine trying to quit a stronger drug than caffeine.
Last night was my first "Buns & Bellies" class. It was tough. Very hard on the arms, too as the first 20 minutes involved holding a fit ball. Isometric exercises, I think she called them. After that, I went downstairs and ran on the treadmill for 5 kms. It took me 43:27 but I did it in straight time. No walk breaks. It was F'n awesome.
This morning I found out that I'm down to 139 pounds. Tonight I discovered I went over my calories. Can someone please tell me why I have to celebrate with something stupid when I get close to my goal?
On the other hand Mother Nature is just around the corner & I'm not bloated or gaining weight so I guess life's not all bad, eh?

September 18 Resolutions

Monday, September 18, 2006

Here's what I completed from last weeks list:
- went to Yoga on Monday
- ate five servings of fruit and vegetables (total) per day
- drank at least 10 cups of water a day (3/7)
Su=10, M=13, T=8, W=9, TH=8, F=8, S=16
That's an average of 10.3 per day.

This week:
- 8 to 10 cups of water
- go to Yoga once
- run at least five kms twice
- ride my bike once
- go to the gym once
- eat five servings of fruit and vegetables (total) per day
- go for a 30 minute walk three times
- no coffee

I've found that my water intake is easy. I've been doing it a long time and now it's just habit. The fruits and veggies are, too. It's the excercise that's giving me an issue. I don't hate it. I just don't want to do it.
I start my "buns and bellies" class tomorrow. Hopefully, that'll kick start something. At the moment tho', it doesn't look promising. I've got PMS and it's making me sore, tired and crabby. I NEED a good endorphin release. Hm, maybe I'll take my sneakers to work tomorrow.

42 paperclips

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

I went from a very fit 142 pounds to a very non-fit 182 in the three years between '96 & '99. *no excuses*

When I first began trying to become a fitter, healthier person I started a paperclip chain. I added one every time I lost another pound and took them off when I regained. I found it helpful to have a visual reminder. I cannot count the times (or explain the disappointment) that I had to take clips off because I slipped.

Today Logan was counting them and said "42". My heart fluttered. It's been a long, long journey full of stops and starts, periods of comfort, and bouts of frustration. I have been very lucky to have found the love & support of someone who never saw the "fat" me, only the woman he loves. With him beside me, and the encouragement of my sons & friends, I've lost all of the weight that I gained while I was pregnant with Colin as well as what I gained in the year following Logan's birth. Plus a smidge more.

My goals when I started (forgive me if I'm repeating myself) were to be able to run the length of a soccer field and to have my thighs stop rubbing together. Since then, I've gone from getting winded walking the stairs to do laundry to running 5, 10 & 22 kms at a time. :o) I've reached my goals.
But I'm not done yet.

A visit with the Yoga natzi

Tuesday, September 12, 2006

I adore Nicola, really, I do, but my goodness she works me harder than any other instructor I've ever had.
If I can walk upright without whining tomorrow, I'll be very surprised.
Having said that, I cannot wait to go back to class on Thursday. Every nerve ending in my body is dancing right now. I'd forgotten how much I love Yoga. Now that I've been reminded it should be easier to keep my resolution to go at least once a week.
