Time for me

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Today I used the gift certificate that the girls from my last HM clinic gave me and got a manicure and a pedicure. It was awesome! I also had my eyebrows waxed and tinted. emoticon Now I'm feeling all purty and stuff. My photos are set for this coming Saturday so I needed to ready myself. I still don't feel ready LOL but I think it's the nerves talking.
Or it could be that I haven't been feeling good about what I've been eating these past two days. I don't know where the impulsiveness is coming from but it has to stop.

Monday:
Fruit 4, Veggies 3, Water 2.5L Calories consumed 2289 (319 over)
Cardio/Strength - none
Tuesday:
Fruit 2, Veggies 2, Water 2.0L Calories consumed 2239 (269 over)
Cardio/Strength - 39 minute (4k) walk - burned 163 calories

Plan of attack for Wednesday: Run during downtime @ work. Do the circuit twice. Three servings each of fruits and veggies.

Battle of Alberta - Week 7!!

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Good news and bad news for this weeks weigh-in. I'm at 123.5 which means no change from last week (good) but that's one pound more than the first day of the challenge (bad).

I plan to fix this fluctuation train that I'm on. I joined a Boot Camp at work yesterday. Three mornings a week for six weeks. We'll take measurements, etc on Sunday. Pretty excited. Although, I have to admit, having Chas as a trainer scares the heck out of me. (in a good way)

My challenges for this week are:
Nutrition: Water 2L+ Fruit (at least) 3 Vegetables (at least) 3
Cardio: At LEAST 300 minutes this week. That's an hour a day for five days and two rest days.
Strength: Focus is on abs this week - crunches, obliques, planks and boat pose - one minute of each

My personal goals this week are:
-to run 3 times (after I walk with the walking part of my HM clinic)
-do the ST circuit at least twice
-stay within calories 5/7 days
AND do all that other stuff.

I have a new goal!

Thursday, October 23, 2008

I want to run a half marathon in each of Canada's provinces and territories. I just spent the last half hour researching races and have found at least one option for each province/territory.
Ontario - Niagra Falls - October
PEI - Stratford - October
New Brunswick - St. John - September
Newfoundland - St. John's - September
Nova Scotia - Halifax - May
Quebec - Quebec City - May
Manitoba - Winnipeg - June
Saskatoon - Regina - September
British Columbia - Victoria, Penticton or Langley (May)
Northwest Territories - Yellowknife - August
Yukon - Yukon River Trail - August
Nunavut - Northern (Half) Marathon - July

It's going to take 3 or 4 years, since a lot of them happen in the same months, but it WILL be done! I guess I could skip BC, AB and NS but I figure, new goal... those don't count. Now all I have to do is get Glen and the kids on board.

"if you're not puking, you're just not working hard enough"

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

I need to adopt a little of this attitude at work. I'm just not feeling like I'm going to get anywhere as a full-time PT. I'm confident with the programs but I am not good at selling myself. And people still make me nervous enough that I don't think my confidence is coming through. Maybe I just need more training & time?
Or maybe I need to go see Fedex about the Admin position they called me for. Just what I needed .... another employment decision to make.

Penny, definitely give yourself more time. You love doing PT and I'm sure you're excellent at it. As you do it more and more, you'll develop that confidence and it will come through to your clients. Then your clients will tell others and suddenly, you'll have more work than you can handle.

When I first started IT consulting, I HATED looking for work. It was so discouraging trying to find clients. Then I got one, then I got another, and now, I've had work with that same client whenever I've wanted it for the past 4 years.

It's so hard getting started with any new career -- don't get discouraged! You're smart, you care about people, and you're so brave for even doing this. You're going to be just fine. Really. You are.

I think as women we are especially prone to selling ourselves short and for not being good at bragging about what we are good at. Be patient with yourself and practice "faking" the confidence if your feeling nervous. You can do this and be great at it too! I don't know you that well at all but I know I have had similar conversations with myself that usually boil down to me being afraid to try and fail so its easier to decide to quit on my own terms. Just my 2-cents but I think you can do it and it sounds like others do to!!

No, maybe you need to chat with me about how to market you!! YOu are an amazing girl with a ton of talent. Let's harvest that, and you can move towards the next level. P, don't sell yourself short - you have what it takes, you just don't know how to let others know that.

Hugs,
Trish

Have you ever....

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

just been sitting around and the strangest pondering pops into your head? I was reading the comics this morning and Bucky mentioned that 'vegetarian's food is too boring' and it go me to thinking..... are the pets of vegetarians fed vegetarian food, too? I mean, they'd have to be, right? Otherwise, that'd be kind of hypocritical.

See I told you it was a strange pondering.

Very funny pondering, it reminds me of the cat food commercials where a person plays the part of the cat and wants to know "where the meat is."

Not that I am a vegetarian but there is noway my cat would be one either, she may eat some plant leaves and cat grass but howls when I am late with the soft meat like substance, LOL. Then on the other hand our dogs love veggies and fruit, I had two big bad beasts begging for a piece of mandarin orange last night!
