The Battle of Alberta week one, day one

After a weekend of splurging on chinese food, chocolate and (oh my) a trip to McDonalds, I'm completely ready to get back into my healthier way of life. Last week's back issues are still lingering but I'm taking care of them and hopefully they won't affect my ability to run my Half Marathon on the 12th of October.
I put up a few challenges to the Calgarian group this week. I'm posting them here so that when I read my blog, I'll remember what MY goals are:
Challenges for the first week:
Nutritional - consume at LEAST 8 glasses of water per day.
Cardio - at LEAST 30 minutes on 5 out of 7 days.
Strength - at LEAST two good strength training workouts this week.
Stretching - remember to stretch after EVERY workout.
Blog on Monday and Sunday

My BIGGEST challenge will be to BE a leader this week and not just talk the talk..... Having said that, I have three days of running scheduled, two nights of strength and I WILL fit in at least two more 30 minute cardio sessions.
This is my promise to my team and myself.

Ok, so a while back I was trying to figure out a way to celebrate my weight loss and maintenance. I think I've figured it out BUT I don't know if I have the nerve to do what I want to do. I guess what I need is some reassurance that what I'd be doing is art, not smut.
I just wish I knew someone who had done this...

    This is a GREAT goal for you Penny! As long as you're not making it your Christmas card or anything...hahaha. Go for it! Look at how far you've come from your sons first birthday photos. You should definitely do this! emoticon

    OMG... this is a FABULOUS idea to reward yourself for acheiving your goal weight and maintenance! I am sure you have the power to ask for a tasteful photo shoot rather then a risque one!

I am going to do the same, but AFTER my training for my fitnes competition! I am sure It will be the first time my body will ever look like that so I need to remember the feeling! Photos are GREAT for that! I say GO FOR IT!

Caffeine

On 9/17/06 I had my last dose of caffeine. Today, I accidentally made an extra Brownie Iced Capp Supreme at work tonight and instead of giving it to Jessie like I planned, I drank it. So now it's 12:42 a.m. and I'm sitting up watching senseless television. My head kinda hurts and so does my chest. I'm thinking that my body is going to hate me later this morning when I try to make it run 16 kms. HOPEFULLY, it forgives me in 5 or 6 hours.

In other news, I'm getting more & more clients at GL. Now I have to make another life altering decision. Do I keep working at TH full-time and earn a guaranteed income OR do I take a chance on the opportunity to become a full-time PT and earn a non-guaranteed income..... I'm not good at this kind of stuff. I'm really not. I LOVE being a PT. I like being an asst. mgr. I LOVE working with my clients. I don't like .... well there's a lot of things about TH that I don't like but there's a few things I do. I DON'T KNOW!! emoticon What I need is someone to make these kinds of decisions for me.

    I can imagine what you are going through. If it were ME... I think I'd wait it out a while with the PT thing... You haven't been at that job too long, right? Perhaps in a few more moths a clearer picture will emerge! I know, personally for me, I'd L.O.V.E to be a full time PT... but the $$$ isn't as good as what I currently do, and I can't give this up quite yet!

    I've been working as an independent IT consultant since 2004 and I love it. I love the freedom and the variety. Some people question why I would want to go from contract to contract instead of having a permanent full-time job, but this arrangement works for me and for my family. And I've had the good fortune to always have a job (except when I didn't want it, for example, when I went travelling for several months or when I had a baby). I won't presume to know anything about your financial situation, but I find if you're good at what you do, it works out. It really does. And the fact that you're getting more and more clients speaks volumes about your skills.

I WAS ready!

I was definitely ready for tonight. Thanks to those of you who reassured me yesterday.
I felt confident, I didn't pause/stutter or (to me anyway) sound nervous. I rebooked her for two more sessions!! I'm free on Saturday when I'm in but on Monday, I have two more ladies coming in. The best part! I have a "real" personal training client of my own. See, these ladies I'm working with now purchased PT@POS when they bought their gym memberships. This gives them 3 1-hour or 6 half-hour sessions with a personal trainer. The program is 6-parts where we get them started with the PAR-Q, a body composition test, measurements, basic nutritional analysis, etc. We also spend time doing a cardio warm up and cool down, weights (FitFix) and stretching. I'm hoping MOST of my future clients are one-hour because I think 30 minutes for even half of what I showed her tonight would be rushed and crazy..... we'll see.
Anyway, I've GOT to get to bed!! I just wanted to write all this down while I was still feeling the glow. Thanks for reading and thanks again for the support. I appreciate it. More than I can ever express.
