LAUGHTER

Friday, June 15, 2012

First off, when I weighed in on Wednesday, I had lost 2.5 pounds. I give 100% credit to the BLC team I'm on for pushing me to be a better Sparkperson. I've been talkin' the talk for quite a while now but they've been helping me walk the walk. So emoticon

On to this week's challenge. It's called "Laughter". I won't get to use my pretty, purple dobber this time BUT it still looks like I'll be challenged to max my points, for sure. I'll have to focus to get my strength training. Cardio will be easy, I have a HM to run tomorrow and another 7 kms on Sunday. BodyPump on Monday will cover both ..... today is supposed to be a "rest" day but an hour of cardio and 60 reps of ST can still be done w/o over-doing it.
L is for "Laughter" and so I'll be trying to make my teammates smile once a day.
A is for "Add a rainbow" by eating freggies from four of the five colour groups. (Have you seen my salads? Easy peasy lemon squeazy!)
U is for "unwind with 15 minutes of "me" time" - this one is always tricky for me BUT I just watched the second episode of "Dallas" and drank a cup of coffee. I didn't even realize that I was earning 10 points LOL.
G is for "get real" - track everything and stay in range - again, easy peasy-ish. The HM ends at the Farmer's market. All kinds of things can go wrong there. They make pies and fudge there! Also, I bought a brunch ticket and I won't be able to track with 100% accuracy. Oh well, I burn over 1000 cals in a 21.1 km run. I can be 98% accurate and not worry too much. emoticon
H is for "high fives". Since I love encouraging people, especially my team, I expect max points here.
T is for "tone it up". Twenty reps for the upper, lower and core. This is where I may falter but, hey it's only 20 each, I can do this!!
E is for "exercise". No problemo!
R is for "reflect". TA DA!!! Oh, every day? Sorry folks, you'll just have to read my thoughts.... spppooooky..

Well, time for a shower, a snack and some errands. Roo's passed out. It must be damn tough getting me up every two hours, KEEPING me up since 5:30 and then, when there's no chance of me ever falling back to sleep, taking two sips of a boobie @ 10:00 before falling asleep. I love my baby, I love my baby, I love my baby......

    Thanks!
I cannot take credit for the creativity tho'. It all goes to the Admin team for the BLC19. I'm really staying focused, thanks to them.

Have a super time at the Millerville HM, you lucky duck. Looks like the weather will give you a break too. Really like how you broke down the word Laughter very creative.

By the way my HM clinic started last night, Holly is instructing it.

5 star bingo - day three

Monday, June 11, 2012

Today was pretty much a combination of the last two. I tried a recipe for "Cheesy vegetable-stuffed eggplant" that confirmed that, for me, eggplant is kind of like Brussels sprouts, I like the first few bites but then - not so much. Here's the recipe if you're interested: recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detai
l.asp?recipe=1074662
and a picture of how it turned out:

Oh! Here's something that's kind of cool. One of my runners drives a really nice car that, much to my surprise, he agreed to take me for a ride in. Of course, I *had* to have photos taken just for proof. Logan's never going to believe it otherwise. emoticon

Let me tell you, 220 kms/hr feels pretty slick in a Lamborghini, in 4th gear. LOL. He says it goes 325. Lucky for the person who has to do laundry next, I didn't get to see that. It was still very nice.

And I promise to hold the truce... for now. emoticon

5 Star Bingo - day two

Saturday, June 09, 2012

Yesterday, I focused on the "pamper yourself" parts of the challenge so today I thought I'd share a few pics of my walk to Wal-Mart. I needed to make my 45 minutes (fell short, walked too fast) and I needed to pick up a few things for dinner so I thought I'd kill two birds. Roo and I set out around 3:00. It's mostly downhill and/or flat all the way there so I was making pretty good time. Less than 10 minutes in, she fell asleep. Which means I had no one to talk to. Which means I was now pretty bored. I'm SO not a good walker. Anyway, I made the 4-ish kms in about 33 minutes. Yay for downhill!! I'll definitely do that walk again although, for the height challenged (not afraid, just nervous), it's a little bit iffy. First I had to take a pedestrian overpass over one of our main roads and then I had to walk over Highway 2 (Deerfoot if you're from Calgary) on another stretch. FYI, the width of a sidewalk on an overpass is laughable. I rubbed the meridian TWICE with the jogging stroller. Here's a couple of views along the way:

I fully intended to walk back home, too but when I came out it was raining so I called Paul to rescue us. Next time, for sure.
Tonight's dinner was salmon, stir-fried kale & carrots with brown rice. I got the recipe on Spark and, for my BINGO, used it to score 3 squares. Here's the recipe, if you're feeling adventurous: recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detai
l.asp?recipe=370

Well, I'm off to do some yoga. I might also try this: youtu.be/2U9bVmVL7FY

Ah, I know Deerfoot Mall well. Lived not far from there growing up. In fact, learned to drive in that parking lot! Still go there frequently, since my dentist is just up the road. Thanks for sharing your day with us.

5 star bingo - day one

Saturday, June 09, 2012

First, I have to say emoticon to the Admin group of BLC19 that put this one together. I had a great day doing things that I would NEVER do on my own. I sat and read for almost half an hour ("50 Shades of Grey") while my feet soaked in the foot spa my MIL gave me. Four months ago. I had to break it out of the box. Incidentally, foaming foot bath actually does foam.

Kind of reminded me of my first experience with a jacuzzi tub....
Anyway, I also gave myself a facial. Peppermint mud masque to be exact. It was supposed to be "cooling" and good for destressing. My face feels softer now but I had to sit through ten minutes of not knowing whether I'd ever move it again. I thought that stuff would stay soft. Apparently not.

Lastly, I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something I have never done before: eating okra. It, in the words of PEHASS2, will not make it into our regular routine meals BUT it was good enough that both of us ate it.

Oh and for the Amazons that are reading this - BLACKOUT!

50 Shades of Grey? I'm giggling. I'm reading it for the 2nd time now. Not written particularly well and the woman has clearly never opened a thesaurus, but damn!

This is a fun challenge. I must say, my hands look better than they have for weeks.

Thanks for the pics.

Got my blackout too - but okra? You are a brave woman! Ugh.
