Decisions, decisions

Well, I think I've finally committed my brain to going back to school. Now all I have to do is decide how. I can quit my full-time job and go to school full-time for 10 months OR I can keep my job and take courses part-time for the next two years. At the moment, I think I have to go with the part-time option.
My first steps are to fill out the application and write a submission essay. Then I have to get my first aid and cpr AND take a high school biology course. Hopefully, I can take that over the summer so that I can start my real courses in September.
My only concern at the moment is whether I can handle work, school, family, friends & running. Luckily, my family is very supportive and my friends are amazing.
Happiness appears to be a short 250 essay away.

I had to trick myself out of bed this morning. My LSD run w/the Running Room was at 8:30 but 18 kms sounded so scary that I told my morning brain that it was only 12. Yes, I am THAT gullible. It turned out to be a great run though so I'm really glad I did it. The last 2 or 3 kms it started to snow. Luckily, it was still only -4. Which is still in my favourite temp range for running. (18.09kms = 2:09:07)

So far, since I got home, I've eaten another breakfast AND a lunch. I have less than 200 calories left for dinner and my night-time snack. I guess I'm going over today. I know that I'm not going to make it til bed-time w/o another meal.

On a not-completely-me related topic, my local Spark group started our next 5% challenge today. I have 10 lovely ladies signed up. Hopefully, I can keep them motivated enough for the next 10 weeks that we all end up 5% lighter by June 10th. We'll see. I'm pretty excited.

6 Hills, new shoes and other things

Good news: I took my measurements this morning. I've lost four inches since January 28. Three of those came off my hips and thighs.
Bad news: I've gone outside of my calorie range 3 times this week. Not a very good example to the rest of the challenge group.
My main goal for next week is to stay in the range (1620-1970) for six days. Hey, nobody's perfect.
Really good news: We did 6 hills tonight. It was tough but I powered through anyway. I zoned out, listened to my mp3 tunes & ran. The fifth hill was the toughest. Overall though this clinic has been going better than last years'. I feel stronger and I run better than I did last March. I've done all my required hills without any sign of lasting shin splints.
I just. feel. good.
So I rewarded myself with something I needed and something else that I didn't really need but I wanted really bad. Brand new Nike Perseus 3's! They're so pretty!! Got them on sale AND I had a coupon AND I had a GC for $10. Then, because I had a coupon, I also bought myself the new Garmin I've been promising myself since they came out. :-) I'm super excited about seeing that in use. Now I HAVE to do my taxes this weekend. My poor little mastercard.

    Very inspiring blog Penny. I'm so jealous of the new shoes and the new garmin, but you totally deserve it. Way to go girl. PS I've been looking on ebay and the used garmins are going for abou $60-$80, and I don't even have that, so thanks for offering it to me, but I just can't afford it right now.
