I am still in shock! That was too easy!!
After more than a year of thinking we would NOT be approved, even after asking an attorney website about our situation, and EVERY attorney telling us he would be banned for either 5 or 10 years.... All that fretting, all of those questions, all of the uncertainty...
And you know what that immigration officer said about his deportation????
"Oh that doesn't effect your process; we just have to know what happened."
So, yes, Sparkies, that means my husband will be a legal US permanent resident once again very soon!!!!!!!
And that means, WE ARE COMING HOME!!!!!!! We have 6 months to come over there for it to be valid, and we are tentatively planning for May.
Wooooooohooooooooo!!!!!!! I still can't believe it. This is just wonderful!
Have a great day, Sparkers!

So, TOMORROW is our appointment with US Immigration!!!
We are all enjoying the visit with my cousin and her family. It's been keeping my mind off all the anticipation of the up-coming interview. My cousin & I relate to each other so well, it's so amazingly refreshing to spend time with her. Our kids all play really well with each other, and it's..... well..... just wonderful to be with family!!
In spite of being on "vacation", I am ROCKING my challenges to myself!!
NO SUGAR AT ALL!! I made sure I told her what I was doing before I came, to sort of prep her, and also to keep me accountable. She is sort of a health nut too, so she has been really supportive. She has also made lots of healthy stuff to eat, which of course, helps greatly! I also haven't eaten ANY baked goods!! I am already *feeling* slimmer.
I also didn't want to be totally lazy over this weekend. I did my *long run* of a 10K Friday before we left, so I wouldn't have to worry about doing a long run in unfamiliar territory. Yesterday, I headed out to explore around the little town of Jettenbach, near Kaiserslautern. My cousin's husband directed me toward a nature trail just outside the town, so I headed for that. Shall we say..... "HILLS???" Seriously, the terrain here is MUCH different than where I live! It was fun and challenging! I didn't push hard, because it was supposed to be an easy run, but it was still challenging because of the hills. It was great!!
It feels SOOOO great to be successful so far this weekend!! Doing well gives me even MORE motivation to stay on track!!
So, Are you sticking to your goals? Are you challenging yourself to take steps to get to the next level of your fitness??
Spark on, Sparkers!!

Well, really like 2 and a half days! We're driving now to Kaiserslautern to hang out with my cuz, her hubs, & their amazingly fun 4 kids (who love my 4 kids)! :)
Time will pass quickly until our appointment, for sure!!
My sugar detox has been awesome! Day 3 done, and ZERO sugar! Except for fruit, but my detox is just sugar-sugar. I'm allowing myself a small amount (about 1 tbsp) of raw honey per day, but I didn't even have that today!
I'm also avoiding baked goods, which went great today as well. I even baked homemade whole-grain spelt rolls for the road for my family, and I did nibble a taste-test on one, but stopped there. Yay! I'll take that as a win!
Tracking is going great too. Been super good about weighing, accurately tracking, & NOT snacking! Today, my calories were a bit low, due to me being a busy bee getting ready to leave, but I won't worry about that. That's usually NOT my problem. It's amazing how many calories I'm slashing cutting out the sugar! It's great!
For my long run this week, I was supposed to run a 10k. Because I'm so broke & can't afford a bunch of races, so I signed up for a SP Virtual Race & ran it myself. There was about 3 inches of fresh snow on the ground - BEAUTIFUL! I ran it in my Vibrams too. When I was nearing my turn-around point, I started getting tired of running into the wind, so I slowed down just a little. But turning around???? Tail wind! Wooohooo! LOL. But toward the end, I started feeling it. Fizzled out just a little the last 2 km, but finished in 52:51! Nice!
Gonna try to get a couple of runs in this weekend too. Packed all my gear, and have a tentative plan! Shooting for a healthy weekend, in spite of travel.
Have a great weekend, Sparkies!!

WE'RE LEAVING TOMORROW!!!! We'll be packing up tonight, getting almost everything together, & then tomorrow, when hubby comes home from work in the evening....
We're OUTTA HERE!!
We driving to go stay with my cousin and her family - SUPER FUN!!! - near Kaiserslautern, and from there, we will go to our US Immigration appointment EARLY Monday morning.
As much as I have been driving myself crazy about this appointment , I am making myself calm down. I know Who holds all of this in His hands. I know so many people are praying, not only my wonderful Sparkfriends, but also my family and close friends.
And I KNOW, once we are at my cousin's house, we are gonna have a BLAST, and time is going to FLY!
I'm also hoping to find some good running trails over there when I go. Definitely do NOT want to slack off during our little mini-vacay! PLUS, it's supposed to be hilly there, so maybe I'll actually get to get a REAL hill workout in! Something I have NEVER done before! LOL
MY SUGAR DETOX:
It's only been a DAY, I know, but it is going REALLY well. Yesterday, before I had my
moment, I loaded my coffee up with about 5 tsp of my Organic Whole Cane Sugar.... I used to limit myself to about 3. Five is just RIDICULOUS!! That is when I realized, this MUST STOP!
And I am not even *THAT BAD*. I do NOT keep candy or sweets around for the kids. I don't even let THEM have that stuff usually. I do NOT eat a lot of sugary things like cereals and such. I do not drink/buy soda AT ALL, or any other drinks with sugar, like teas and such. I don't use sugary condiments. But I have noticed I have been more and more lenient on the sugar thing, and feel that the detox will do me a LOT of good, and help get the scale moving in the right direction.
That sugar I had in my coffee was the only sugar I had the entire day..... A BIG to me!!!! I had a dab of honey in my coffee later (yes, I do love coffee), but other than just a little bit of tea - NO SUGAR!! And today has been even MORE successful!! It is AMAZING how many CALORIES I am slashing just by doing this!!
I also pinpointed some weak points and pit falls for me:
** Nibbling on my kids' waffles (which are whole grain but have a little OWC sugar in the batter... plus, it counts as a "baked good" which I am abstaining from as well)
** Nibbling on my kids' waffles with organic strawberry jam (SUGAR!)
** Again the waffles with Nutella.... SUGAR again!!
Can you see I have a hard time staying away from the waffles?? LOL They are OH. SO. GOOD!! (My own recipe, whole grain spelt waffles) But my weight loss & baked goods do NOT go together, I have learned.
** My coffee!! Which I have already pinpointed as my BIGGEST weakness when it comes to sugar.
** Yogurt... even if I do buy the organic stuff, it isn't as sweet as the other stuff, and certainly not loaded with junk... BUT it STILL has SUGAR! (Trying to stick to Greek Yogurt with fruit, and a tiny drop of Stevia... that is really yummy too!!)
** Sweets and chocolate - I am usually *pretty* good about not keeping those things around, and just having it occasionally, but over the holidays, I ate a lot more of it. It needs to END NOW.
I have been ROCKING this, staying away from the waffles, not using sugar, not eating the sweets!! By the end of these 2 weeks, I know I am going to feel much more on track.
It's going GREAT! I started at the beginning of this week. First couple of days were NOT accurate tracking... I was doing a lot of snacking and guesstimating.... That DOESN'T WORK, Darcy, you know this!!! If I'm gonna track, it needs to be ACCURATE! So, I am really working of refraining from the snacking, and weighing out ALL the stuff accurately. It's coming along, and getting better EVERY day!
NO BAKED GOODS:
Perfect. Haven't had any. Stayed away from the waffles and bread the past 2 days. Doing great on that one as well.
The HARD part will be this weekend!!! But I am going to prepare my cousin & let her know, and I am trying to "think positively" and visualize myself being SUCCESSFUL sticking to my commitments!!!
FOUR MORE DAYS, PEOPLE!!! FOUR MORE DAYS!!! FOUR..... MORE..... DAYS!!! (I'm not excited at all.)

Yep that's right, it's another countdown, baby. Like we don't have enough of those on SP!
Yesterday, after posting my blog, I made the mistake of DRIVING MYSELF ABSOLUTELY INSANE trying to YET AGAIN find ANSWERS about our immigration case! LIke I HAVEN'T already done that a million times, like I HAVEN'T already wasted too much time trying to find out what they might say, and like it REALLY ever brought me anything!! NO, it only makes me crazy, because there is no solid info, except for the immigration attorney I asked on a free website, who told me that, because he was "ordered removed," he will be automatically inadmissible, regardless of circumstances.... Ugghh.
So, had to remind myself, it isn't going to do me ANY good. It is only FIVE DAYS AWAY, and then I will have ALL my questions answered.
5 DAYS, BABY!!!
I have been reading some other SP blogs, and got inspired to try a few new things with the diet.
I am TAKING THE PLUNGE! Here we go!!
For 2 weeks, I am going to commit to:
1. No sugar.
I only use the organic whole cane sugar, which I think is way better than the refined stuff (still contains the vitamins naturally in sugar cane), but it still can be addictive, and I still think it should be used in moderation.... PLUS, I have noticed I have been FAR TOO MUCH in my coffee lately, since I hadn't been tracking for a while. Boo. I will use a tad of organic raw honey and stevia here and there, but pretty much cut out all the sweet stuff.
2. NO baked goods.
This one may not be a one-size-fits-all thing, but for me, I think it is what I need. Saw someone else post this, and wanted to try it.
3. COUNT THOSE CALORIES!!
After getting off course with the tracking, it is H.A.R.D. to jump back on that boat!! I know 2 weeks of solid tracking will totally get me back into the groove!
So, those are my goals as far as eating goes.
I am so loving my new training plan!! I love having a specific run workout to do each day. It is from a Women's Running Mag issue and it's called "Run your fastest marathon" or something. My goal is to break 1:50 with my next HM in May. (Current PR is 1:53:55)
It basically consists of 2 ST workouts each week (which I already do), one long run (duh!), and other speed workouts or easy runs during the week, running 5 days a week usually, I think.
I haven't really figured out which week I am going to start with, because I already have my mileage base up, so I don't need to start from the beginning, really. But I am mixing and matching runs so far, and I LOVE it!!
Today was a tempo run - 1 mile warmup, 35 min @ 10k tempo, 1 mile cool down. I shot for 6 miles total, since I was running out and back. My 10K pace is around 5 min/ km (8 min per mile), but I didn't think I could manage that. I am fat (not really, but I DO feel those extra 10 lbs), and a little out of shape when it comes to speed, and it was early in the morning before a meal..... Excuses, excuses!! LOL
So, I started out, giving myself a goal of "anything around 5:15/km" for the tempo part. Did my EZ mile, and picked up my pace........
Looked down at the Garmin, and my pace was 5:05 or something!!! SWEET! I just kept going by how I felt, pushing but not too hard....
And my average pace was about 5:10/KM for the tempo part! (8:16 per mile or so?) I crossed the 5 mile point at 43:30, even WITH the slow warmup mile... AWESOME!
I did my cool down at the end, not quite a mile, since I was SMOKIN' ALONG in the tempo section, and finished the 6 miles in 52:49.
All I know is I LOOOOOOOVE speed work. I love challenging myself and seeing what I can do! Plus, I think there are significantly MORE endorphins afterwards from the workout, than if I just have a drab, easy-going run. =)
DEFINITELY getting my RUNNING Spark back - YEAH!!!!
