Group's 18 Mile Run

Saturday, December 07, 2013

Ran 13.1 miles at a 12:55 pace.
If that would have been my plan it would have been great, but my original plan was to run 16 miles. The group I run with ran 18 miles today. I got to 13.1 and since I'm planning to only run a half marathon this season it was hard to motivate myself to continue running. I did keep going to 15.06 miles but my average pace slowed to 13:04. Still happy with my run. My best pace this season of my life for a half marathon race was 13:43 on October 27 and my fastest long run pace for this season was 13:07.
1734 cal.
Avg. HR: 119 Max HR: 148
35 degrees
Slowest mile: 14:05. Fastest mile: 12:23

Great job. Gotta get to running again. Had some serious GI issues for a week which have made running more challenging. Since I'll be running the marathon in Jan and I am running the Sugarland 30 K next weekend I've got to get cracking again.

Just saw this and had to comment...have been using the 30/30 intervals and I really enjoy them! Also, nice that you stopped for another runner in trouble ;-).

37F in Houston...BRRRRRRR! I only lived there for a year but I do recall the dampness really makes it feel VERY cold! Congrats for running in that kind of weather!

You did great--what a good run! You smashed your 'hope' pace, and wowza you really did improve over the March race--what was different for you, more training?

Cold and Rainy Run

Saturday, November 23, 2013

Ran for 3:39:06
My longest run in 21 months.
:30 second run/:30 second walk @ a heart rate of 119 or less
15.62 miles
1658 cal.
Avg. HR: 115 Max HR: 129
Avg. Pace: 14:02
47 degrees, heavy rain and strong wind from the north
One of the worst runs of my life. said 0% chance of rain for entire run time so I worn no water resistant clothing. Started to rain at mile 4 and continued until last mile.
Positive split(which is not a good thing): 13:07 at half way point
Only good note, very little pain or tightness in my right knee.
Have had sniffles all day.

Way to tough it out on your long run. Take some extra vitamin c to ward off colds.

wow! congratulations for sticking it out. i'm impressed. (and i've already learned not to trust the weather forecast for rain)(sometimes it says no rain for the next hour when it's raining!)

You did awesome. You are my hero! I didn't run - I was two blocks from home when the skies opened and I decided it wasn't worth risking a cold when I'm traveling to Israel next week.

Besides the PR it looks like you had a great run. Negative splits are good.

It's kind of ironic that the La Porte half will be the warmest race of the bridge series, but it was unusually warm last year and it was run then in December.
