Missoula

Ran 11.2 miles today getting ready for a half marathon in Missoula Montana in July. Temperature at the start was 78 degrees and 83 when I finished. Happy I made that distance although I was aiming for 11.5 miles. The heat really wears me down. I usually do a 5 run and 1 walk, but close to the end I was doing a 1 run and 1 walk. Need to find a way to not get so dizzy and tired on my long runs on hot days.
Next week I'll cut back the distance goal to 6 miles. Should be able to do well at that distance.
Since I eat half of the calories I burn on my long runs I'll eat well today and enjoy it, especially since my wife and I will be celebrating our 31st anniversary. emoticon

    A little late...Happy Anniversary! 31 years is a long time! I love hearing about marriages that are celebrating so many years of being together. :)

Dinner Party

Last night I got together with a small group from our church for a dinner party. For me that is one of the toughest things. I am trying to really watch what I eat. When in a group of friends/acquaintances and not sure what will be served I try to save lots of extra calories. I did okay yesterday only because I didn't eat any appetizer or dessert, but half of my calories for the day went for supper. It was interesting to see how much food others were eating. I guess some of my priorities are changing. I made my choice and moved on.

    Good for you for choosing what you wanted to eat while staying within your calorie limits! I do that some days- eat low calorie stuff during the day so that I can enjoy a less strict dinner or desert. I am going to do this for the rest of my life and I am having to find ways to balance those kind of events and staying within my calorie range.
