new goals

Wednesday, January 02, 2013

I haven't completely thought this blog through, but I know if I am to get back into the swing of things I have to recognize what I have been doing wrong and try to make some changes. I love my new job but I find I can not exercise on those days I work. It causes me stress and anxiety to try and fit it in on the days I work. I only work about 3 days a week. So my first goal is to exercise on all non working days. Next, I will get back to counting my water intake. I also will need to get onthe scale once a week. Finally, I will start counting my points for food again. I always assumed I knew about how many weight watcher points I was consuming, but the scale has proven that I was wrong. I have gained. My time frame is that I would like to lose 15 pounds before my mamogram in Feb. It is still a motivating factor for me because when I was heavy, the doctor always found lumps in my breasts. I am very afraid of this happening and I know I am at greater risk for breast cancer if I am overweight. That's all for now. I am trying to start off with just a few goals so that I keep them.

Out of routine

Monday, December 24, 2012

Hi, It has been awhile. I just wanted to say for the record that I have not given up. I have just been having a hard time getting it together lately. I have been juggling the holidays with a new job and now this week my hot water heater broke and flooded my basement. I couldn't get any one to come fix it until after the holiday. So I haven't exercised because I can not shower. I can shower at my mom's but I am not going there all sweaty from the treadmill in the cold weather, so it will have to wait until after wed. My body is of course protesting with a weight gain, but I am determined to get back into it after my heater is fixed. Wish me luck on getting my stuff together soon. Happy Holidays to all my great spark friends! I will be back soon.

I can imagine your frustration. You have not given up or forgotten what to do, you just have some restrictions. How about some yoga? If not, the time will go quickly. Good luck getting your water heater replaced.
Have a great Christmas! emoticon

Sorry to hear that your hot water heater broke on you at this time of the year.
But thanks for sharing your good news: you have a new job (hope you like it!), you haven't given up (congrats!), and you're determined to get back into your heathly journey.

Happy Holidays! emoticon

Today I scared myself

Friday, March 18, 2011

I started spring cleaning today. I started by cleaning out my clothes dresser. Well, most of the stuff in there is huge for me now. I am pretty proud of that. However, I really scared myself. I went through all the clothes and just refolded most of them and put them back in my drawer. Even the undergarments. Right now they would never fit. I went down from a size 18/20 to a 6/8. What does it say about me that I would save that stuff? Am I subconsciously thinking I will be that heavy again? I really hope not. I just opened the drawer again with the plan to get rid of itall. but, I just can't do it. I tried to justify my actions by saying that the things are brand new and it is a waste to get rid of them ( I won't donate my underwear). I really love being my new size. I feel so much healthier and happier. I feel so much more attractive. So tell me, Why don't I just throw those big things away?

I think that deep in your mind you think you will gain some weight, so why have to buy new clothes then? But when you have a vision about something, you can do this something a reality!
So get ride of this old image of you by getting ride of your old clothes. I have packed mines and put them somewhere in the basement. After six months I knew I didn t need them and gave them away.
Think also that , by donating, you can satisfy the need of another person. What is old for you, is bright new for someone else!
In my opinion, give them away!!! You can live without them. Don t keep ghosts in your closets.

I'm in the process of cleaning out my closet this weekend, and I'm struggling with the same thing! I still have pants from 46 pounds ago that I'm afraid to let go of... but reading your post (and all the great comments) will help with that!

Congrats on your weight loss--you look fantastic!!!

I think lots of people struggle with it!! Me on the other hand, threw all my big stuff away, and needed it again! LOL. But not this time, it will be different!

I don't know...maybe you could do 1/day. Or, if you sew, you could cut them down and maybe keep them. I am planning to donate my clothes as I get down. I'm at 192.5 now and plan to do a closet clean-out at 190...down 53 pounds...from a size 3x down to l/xl. I plan to throw away the underwear. I just bought some new smaller ones and they fit...and they're 2 sizes smaller. So I KNOW the ones that are in the drawer are too big. I would suggest at least throwing one pair away...if altering is not an option. Then see how you feel. I think you will probably feel relieved and proud and happy with the new space in your drawers. Wishing you the best! Spark on! emoticon

Some articles of clothing can easily be altered to fit again. If you really love a shirt or something, keep it, but get it altered to the size you are now. I'm surprised no one else mentioned it earlier.

Congratulations on your weight loss emoticon

Getting rid of clothes is like getting rid of part of your life, the person you were when you wore them... It is difficult. You have to decide if you're okay saying goodbye to being that overweight person forever. Even though you didn't like being overweight, it was part of who you were at one point.

I cleaned out my closet today with many of the same feelings you had! I had to keep telling myself, "It's okay to let this go." Picture letting the clothes flow out of your life, into someone else's, instead of ceasing to exist altogether. Maybe your clothes can go on a new and exciting adventure with someone else! (But I'm with you on the underwear, lol.) :)

Wow! from an 18/20 to a 6/8~How awesome is that!!! I would get rid of the bigger clothes. Someone else needs them and would love to have them, and like others have posted,if you do not have bigger clothes to fit into then if you do gain a little you'll just have to buckle down and lose the weight. CONGRATS on losing so much:)~
I'd chuck the underwear:)

Toss 'em or make rags out of them. I just gained back 10 lbs and hardly even realized I was gaining because I still had some bigger pants to wear and the smaller ones just found their way to the back of the closet. If I didn't have the larger pants to throw on, I would have been forced to face the pain of tight pants and done something to stop it sooner. They make it too easy to backslide. Congrats on your healthy lifestyle! emoticon

One of my main motivators to begin Sparks was because my "fat" pants, size 18, were getting really tight. I'm down to a 14 right now but still have the fat pants in the closet. You went WAY down to a 6, congratulations! I think you are scared you are going to gain weight again. I don't blame you for the fear at all. You got 2 choices, hang on to them as a security blanket, or put them in one of those bins for a charity and be happy knowing someone who needs clothes will get some nice ones.

I imagine its because you're a little like me, you're not made of money, but "what if"
I have jeans from 13 years ago just because I wore them until I was 7 months pregnant, and what if I decide to have another baby???? Maternity jeans are expensive, and those would fit me!

But believe me, you're using them as a crutch, just in case. Well if you pitch them, it will be all the more motivation not to be able to fit back into them ever. i mean who can afford a new wardrobe every 6 months??? ;)

I have only went from a 18 to a 14 so far and I got ride of all my big clothes already, but I gave them away. I know what you mean by no giving away underwear but If I where you I would just get rid of them. YOU CAN DO IT!

I've struggled with that too, but I really think you have to just do it. Get rid of them. Don't allow yourself the option to go back to that size. If your current size were to get snug, you'd have to buckle down and lose a few pounds, rather than putting on something in the next size. I think it can be a slippery slope. Good luck and congrats for having this type of "problem" (it's a good one to have)!

FIT TV

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Did anyone else notice that they changed the lineup of shows on FIT TV. I am so disappointed. I always did my workout with Gilad at 10:30. If I missed it, he was on later in the day. Now they have put on all these nonsense shows. There is very little exercise. What's up with that? I was able to find Gilad at 8:30. I guess I should be happy they didn't take him off all together. I guess I had better start taping the show before that happens. Why is it that every time I enjoy a show on TV, They cancel that programming? Am I really that different from the norm in America?

Wow you stopped by my page on the very day I realized how much FitTV had changed - I too am very disappointed - it was perfect. I noticed that our cable provider has moved the Yoga to an on demand channel - that costs extra - like we aren't already paying enough!! Phooey!
Glad to be back in touch - when is that 5K of yours??

Wishing you Sunshine, cool temps and a strong finish!

Zumba Prize

Friday, December 17, 2010

Hi,
Last night I went to see my son's High School Winter Concert. They were amazing! I am so proud of him.
In order to raise money for the band the parents were selling raffles. I never win, but I don't care because it is for a good cause. Well that changed last night. I won. My prize was 5 free classes at a Zumba Class. Now I am sure that is just to get me sucked in to paying for more lessons, but I'm excited anyway. I always wanted to take the class, but I have been too shy to join alone. Now I have a reason to go.
My cardio needs a shake up anyway. I'll let you know how it goes. I probably will wait to January to start.
Just in case I don't blog again in time- I really want to wish you all a verry Happy Holiday, and Happy new year too.
