Where'd that wagon go?

As I feared- and perhaps set up as a self-fulfilling prophecy- the start of school lead to a complete drop off. Haven't even visited the site, let alone tracked. Haven't worked out in three weeks.

However, a lot of the diet changes seem to have stuck. So tonight, with a full belly and clothes on I weighed in. Down one pound from my last weigh in.

So although I fell off the wagon, apparently I chased it somehow. Now to get back into the swing of things. Started with editing my workout goals for a more realistic setup for the school schedule. Now that I see a better calorie count, I think it's time to get back to work, these pounds won't come off like they seemingly went on- all by themselves.

Hard to make a lifestyle change amongst fit friends with high metabolisms. Gotta start saying no to lunch out and the like.

Toughest thing now- rollin'....out of bed that is.

I'm a morning shower person, so by default, I need to be a morning workout person. Tried this morning. Called my alarm clock some unmentionable names and rolled over. This is the next phase- fitting these changes into my teaching schedule. If I can get good AM workouts in, then everything else falls into place. If not, I'm going to need to plan to workout after school, which means a second shower, which is really bad for my psorasis.

So now, the joy of an early bedtime- something that is SOOOOO against my biological clock. It's another necessary change if I'm gonna keep rollin', rollin' to 200!

What a week...

Been in the midst of contract negotiations for my teachers' union. Had good workouts Sunday and Monday, but then fell off the wagon:

Tuesday- Took Strike vote all day
Wednesday- Back to the negotiating table, get settlement, go party for 7 hours
Thursday- Recover and car shop

So poor nutrition all week until today. Add in some stress, and now I weigh in this morning to find I'm +4 lbs.

But, I have a week before school starts, so time to hit the yardwork and workouts hard. Make some meals and freeze them, and generally prepare for back to school. Still have the goal of 255 by the 20th. 11 lbs in 10 days is probably a reach, but if I lower the goal, I'll lower my work.

Long term journey...just keep reminding myself that.

    No journey is a straight and even path...there are going to be curves and bumps along the way..the main thing is to keep moving in the same direction. Good luck!

So last night I went to a party with some friends, overall was pretty good on the night, but rolled in at 3am. Jumped on facebook and see my wife's status:

"Down 7.5 lbs in 3/5 weeks."

We've both had trouble noticing each other's weight loss since we see each other so much, but I'm so proud of her. We've both tried to lose weight for years, and now we're finally achieving. In the past month, our house has lost over 21 lbs.

I can't speak for her, but I'm definitely noticing energy level changes, even on my current 2 week plateau, everything else is working out much nicer.

Looking forward to a week with some solid workouts, one piece that has been missing for me during this plateau. Hope your journeys are progressing as well!

    That's fantastic! I'm happy for you guys that you're able to do this together. Having in-house support is critical! I really wish that I could get my husband on board. Not that he doesn't support me or want to get healthier himself, I just feel bad pushing him in that direction when his job is so stressful. Maybe if I make little changes for him it'll pave the way for him to take charge...regardless, congrats and thanks for the inspiration!

A lifestyle change?

So today just blew. Got up early to go for a summer teacher training to find out that I didn't need to be there. Breakfast was supposed to be provided, so I was going to eat there. So no breakfast. Then off to another meeting, and then a 3rd. Finished at 1pm just famished.

And now the drive home...past 33 different fast food drive thrus.

Yes...I counted. And yes, I HATE the word "thru"

I kept thinking "what can I eat there that's decent?" and the answer every time was "nothing that's worth eating 15 (then 10, then 5) minutes earlier than if I wait til I get home"

So while I missed workouts yesterday, and am going to relax in the pool rather than workout today, I'm still proud of myself. It's the little victories that matter in making big changes, and today was another little victory.
