Making my back to feeling fit

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

So this morning I went to a free seminar at the YMCA called Portion Distortion, which really put my portion size into perspective. From now on I will eat everything off a salad plate except for salad which I will pile up on a bigger plate. I have begun measuring out my portions and have recently purchased The Biggest Loser glass digital food scale at Walmart for $25. You can only find it in the store not on the website. Yes it is a little pricey but worth every penny.

Tonight I will take a Cardio and Core fitness class at the YMCA. I have scheduled at least 1 exercise class everyday except Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be an open day to do whatever workout I want and Sunday is my one day off which I do active rest like cleaning my apartment.
Tomorrow I have a turbo kickboxing class at 8:30am then afterward I will take the water aerobics class at 10am.

I'm really sorry you injured your back, but please don't let this setback be the end of your journey. We all encounter bumps, but you don't have to give up. My suggestion - try laying on a heating pad and pop some Tylenol over the next few days. Also, try to eat healthy. You may gain a couple of pounds, but you don't have to gain everything you lost. Just stick to healthy eating! Enter maintenance mode until you can get back to exercising. Hope your back heals quickly!

Bummer! I feel for you. I was on a huge roll this summer when I sprained my ankle very badly. It was hard to take the set back. Don't let it ruin your progress though. You will hit many bumps in the road on your journey. Each time you persevere you end up stronger. This too can be a silver lining - I believe in them. Everything happens for a reason even though we don't always know why. Keep working on a positive attitude and patience and you'll get through this!

Praying for healing!

I feel your pain since I have an injured toe myself. Don't give up on your other goals. Having the right mindset is half the battle too

Fell off the weightloss wagon but I'm back

Thursday, November 01, 2012

I had a 2 week slump...I couldn't get motivated to eat right or exercise no matter what I did. But I'm back, brushing myself off and getting back into the groove of things. I have my gym time all scheduled out and will be following said schedule to the letter. Tonight I'll make myself skinless chicken breast, brown rice and spinach for dinner and extra for lunch tomorrow. I've been doing good with my caloric intake today so I'm pretty proud of that. I'm looking forward to getting back in the gym tonight emoticon
I asked my boyfriend to take some pics of me in a bra and underwear for motivation emoticon Not a pretty sight!!! in fact it is down right scary haha. I've decided to do this every 3 months to keep myself motivated and I think it will be nice to look back and see the progress.

Glad you are back at the exercise! A well rounded program is so important. That being said though, we all have rough times and pulling through them is the best thing you can do!

You've got your plan and your motivation. Don't worry about a two week slump - you will power right through it. We all need breaks from time to time and now you are back and ready to go!

Way to go. A minor setback. As long as you have the desire to move forward from here and not allow it to drag you down.

Sometimes, it takes photos to motivate us (it did for me), so definitely use those during times when you don't want to exercise or eat healthy. As for the two-week slump, I think we all go through that from time to time. No worries! It's a fresh month, so rock it!

Making things work in the face of a personal tragedy

Monday, October 08, 2012

Friday I found out that my mother has been hospitalized for a heart attack and a suicide attempt. My mother has tried many times before to kill herself, the amount of medication she took along with the fact that her health is poor her heart couldn't take it. She is now in the ICU, after she is strong enough she will be moved to a mental ward for up to a week then she will be moved again to a rehab facility.
Now usually when faced with this much heartache I would go out and buy several cartons of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, cookie dough, chips, soda, booze ect. but this time I didn't do that, I remained on my caloric intake of 1200 calories and ate healthy foods. I haven't exercised since Friday but I will head to the gym again starting today.
On a positive note I purchased The Spark and The Spark cook book and I am now reading them. I can't wait to try some new recipes.

A very close family member died a few days ago. It's desperately painful to know there was nothing I could do to stop them slowly killing themselves. But like you I have tried to look after myself and not fall into the old traps of comfort food. That's just a short-term solution that causes longer-term problems in the end. Good luck with keeping focused on your long-term health.

You are very wise in focusing on yourself, on YOUR life instead of another person who chooses to make bad choices.
the biggest part of making a change in lifestyle is establishing a new routine. You are doing that,,, baby steps like calorie change and introducing exercise, are the foundations.
Your daughter is beautiful like her mom.. your Danny looks like a keeper!! Focus on what you need, what you are capable of and what you are willing to live with to stay healthy and happy. With your two buddies by your side, you have a very big advantage over others!!
I am proud of you! emoticon emoticon
