So it has been a few weeks since I started training for my 5K and about two weeks since I got my new shoes. Everything seems to be progressing well. When I first started, my trainer had me running 5 minutes at a time with a 5 minute walk between. By the middle of the second running set my shins and feet would be aching. After yesterday, I had to stop once during the second set to stretch. I finshed the rest of the workout without any problems. I have increased my speed this week so I was drenched by the end of the workout but I felt great. Now I get to run into problems.
My grandmother passed last night. We were already planning to go visit my family over the holiday but I would have had access to a treadmill while visiting my dad. Now, that may not happen due to the funeral. I'm a little worried about what will happen if I don't get a training day or two in this weekend. Friday I'm going to get up early and at least get that day completed. My Saturday and the following Monday session may be in jeopardy, though. I might have to try running on the street (which is what my 5K is going to be anyway). I only worry because I've had the cushion of the treadmill up until this point.
