Great Week! Ready For The Weekend and The 5% Fall Challenge!

I am so glad the weekend is finally here!! I cooked at home all week! Tonight my husband and I met up with a bunch of friends at Don Pablo's. I looked up the menu/nutrition values and picked out what I was going to order before we left for the restaurant. I also went in focused on
1. Not eating appetizers.
2. Not drinking alcohol.

I have learned that I definitely eat a lot more and foods that are not good for me if I drink alcohol. So, I decided that alcohol is totally out while I lose weight. Last time I did this I didn't drink alcohol and I lost the weight quickly.

I am proud to report that I didn't eat any of the appetizers in front of me and stuck to my unsweetened iced tea. I was the only one not drinking margaritas or beer. As I watched everyone else dip their chips and soft tortillas in white cheese sauce I thought about how many times I have done this in the past 8 months. I thought about how happy I was to have already lost 2 pounds in the past 6 days and that those chips, dips, and drinks just weren't worth it.

This weekend I am going to focus on getting my fitness minutes back up. I am hoping for some dry weather so I can run outside. I also want to find a good Zumba video for night time. My husband said he would take salsa lessons with me so I am going to try to line that up when we get back from vacation.

    excellent. yes the margaritas and also the chips have been difficult lately. they're ok on occasion ... but not when occasions become too frequent! thanks for your comment on my blog ... and your regular encouragement. i've needed it. thanks.

    Good for you! I can leave the beer and margaritas alone. I would have a hard time not having the cups and cheese dip or salsa. How fun to have a dancing hubby!

    Well done! It's always hard when everyone around you is drinking and snacking, but you are definitely on the right path to weight loss!
I'm also a runner and finding the colder weather is making it a bit more challenging to get outside. I hope it clears up for you soon.

    We had our son's credit card to pay for the pool closing, but the guy didn't have a way to scan it and we wrote a check for it.

I haven't seen that name for a tennis shoe at many places. We had over 4" of rain here since Wednesday night. I haven't been outside except to let the dog out into the yard.

Today went very well...

I remembered my lunch (and tomorrow's too)!

We had a retirement party for a teacher which included a potluck lunch. There was food everywhere. I brought fresh cut fruit. I had fruit and salad, skipped the croutons and all the other delicious food. I did eat my soup and cottage cheese with it. I skipped the Costco cake too!

I have noticed I am drinking a lot more water. And I am not liking these shorter days. I have been working a lot of hours and not getting home until dark. I am trying to get up earlier to get more fitness minutes in outside, but, truth be told, I love my sleep! Now that I have most if the new software running, I am going to try to shorten my work days a bit.

    We had a Teacher Training PD day with all kinds of goodies, and I did not stick to the fresh fruit. I totally get the long hours too. I got home before 5 pm, and that was a rarity. I choose my sleep over morning fitness too.

Oh, the blessings of being a school administrator! Yeah for weekends!

Stay Calm and Spark On..,

Yesterday I didn't get enough calories in. I had forgotten my packed lunch at home, and had carpooled to work..lesson learned - I will take a whole week's worth of lunches in every Monday!

Anyway, I must have felt hungry while I was sleeping because I actually dreamt that a friend left a clear bag with lemon and chocolate squares on a seat next to me. I could see the squares and couldn't resist temptation so I ate 1 1/2 of them. In my dream I thought about my diet, but thought "what the heck, I will eat them anyway!" I was relieved when I woke up and realized it was a dream!

It's amazing how the mind continues to work out our problems while we are asleep! Every day this week I have been invited out to eat and have declined.

I am gonna stay calm and Spark on!

Must have felt bad to think about the nice healthy food you prepared, and no replacement available...
Once I left my lunch bag at home but my DD noticed it on my desk and run after me with the bag, just in time!

I've been retired for almost 7 years and I still work in my dreams. Sometimes from a job I had 40 years ago.

The Most Beautiful Sunset Ever...

I had to bolt early to work this morning, and got back just in time to see the sunset!

It was simply stunning!

I did pack my lunch again before I ran out the door, and I ate well-balanced meals. I am going to pull up a Spark video or two tonight - I haven't had a chance to pick up a Zumba video. I may end up ordering one on Amazon tonight, not sure when I can get to the store.

Anyway, tonight my husband and son wanted to go to a local restaurant for dinner to get buffalo chicken nachos. They went and I stayed home :)
I also got invited to 1/2 price burger night at the restaurant next to my house - literally next door - I can walk there! I declined that offer too. Anyway, it isn't hard to see why I gained some weight back!

I spent some time after dinner going through the Shooting Stars team page. I think I have all my templates set up now, I should be ready to go!

    it is a gorgeous sunset - thanks for sharing it.. and best wishes with your plans.. going out could be enjoyable and need not be a bad thing food-wise.. moderation is the key! burger with salad instead of fries.. and some sort of alternative to nachos maybe?
packing lunch is a great way to control the daytime.. congrats on getting that habit underway...

Monday and a Free Vacation...

After I walked the Bostons this morning I spent my entire work day
in front of the computer. Last week I changed all of the hardware and software. And I also had to upgrade to Windows 8...ugh!

I did pack my lunch which worked out great. I was going to walk the dogs after dinner but we are getting a lot of rain.

My husband and I received a free 4 day, 3 night voucher to Secrets in Jamaica. They gave us the voucher last October because Hurricane Sandy hit. We booked a trip there for the last week in October. M
Our friends said they would keep an eye in our sick son. His brother will check on him as well. My husband and I really need the break and time for us. And we aren't wasting free days at an all inclusive!
