Keeping the Weight Off...

Thursday, April 12, 2012

I am doing a great job keeping the weight off. I weighed myself today and am holding strong at 125. Sometimes I float up or down a couple of pounds then end up back 1 pound under my goal weight.

I am still tracking my food. I did pretty good keeping up with tracking during my three vacations. I am very honest about what I am eating and drinking. I generally eat between 1200 and 1500 cals. Sometimes I go over 1500 cals, but it seems to even back out through the whole week.

I run 4 to 5 times per week.

Running and tracking all of my food are definitely the two main things keeping my weight down.

Cheers to YOU!

Hi R.Mom! You are amazing! In between work, school and home, you find the time to take care of yourself too... busy but balanced! I like the idea of you trying to kill two birds with one stone re: school... will you be more qualified for your line of work or get a raise??? Or are you just trying to satisfy the requirements? It sounds interesting, but you're right.. you are sacrificing your personal time, but it will be worth it in the end! No one can take your education from you! emoticon emoticon

Nice Long Weekend...

Friday, April 06, 2012

I am so happy to have three days off in a row. My life has been a whirlwind since I returned from vacation. I am getting my new managers and staff organized and adjusted to new changes. They are positive changes but changes none the less. I was exhausted yesterday. My school work has picked up a lot. I have been staying on top of it, but am ready for the end! School really cuts into my social time! My kids are full grown and I am ready to take a break!

Anyway, this morning I caught up on some things on the internet, took inventory of the food in my pantry and refridgerator and made out the grocery list. I like to keep my to-go-foods in stock so I don't eat something I will regret later.

I set up my running teams web page for the Ronald McDonald house 5k run/walk. Our team is called the "Plum Point River Rats". We came up with this name because we hang out in and around the Chesapeake Bay all summer.
Here is our mascot picture:

I made it from printshop software. The guys think it's funny because the rat's hand is in his overalls. I did not realize it looked that way until they pointed it out, but we decided to keep the rat anyway.

I jotted down in my calendar a few more 5k's I want to do. I am going to try to find a "test" 10k to do before the Delaware Marathon.

This afternoon it is supposed to get to 57 so I am going to do a long run (6 to 7 miles) around the development. I put my running clothes on when I got up so I would follow through with it.

Tonight I am going to talk my husband into going out to dinner where my son works. They steam a really good lobster tail there at a really good price.

I hope you enjoy your weekend.

Hi R.M.! Good blog! Loved the "river rat!" I noticed his Missing hand too! He's also gonna have to put his shoes on before he runs! Good job with your mascot! So glad you got a little "down time" doing what you love with those you love! You sound happy and busy! Hope you had a Happy Easter! Thanks for commenting on my blog...we had another gorgeous day here in South Florida. Have a great week and enjoy your runs! emoticon emoticon

    LOL! about your mascot.

I like lobster too. We went out to Burger King with their coupons. I don't think we have been out since Veteran's Day last year.

Because of Running and Great Sparkbuddies I am Back in the Swing of Things! (Pics included)

Sunday, April 01, 2012

Thank you for your comments on my blog when I was stressed out over work stuff last week. You guys are so nice. I loved it!

Friday night I read over your comments and went on-line to find a 5k. It was just what I needed to do to "snap" out of it. I am so glad I did. I ended up with a new PR of 27.49 - blew my old time from last year out of the water by 2 minutes! I also ended up getting a medal! I had to look at my posted time 5 times before it sunk in that I had run that fast! All the hard work I have been doing to run faster is paying off...yippeee!

And, best of all, it snapped me out of feeling stressed out.

Here is a couple pics I added from my Key West trip. The first is me getting ready to go out with my hubby and friends on a sunset cruise...

This is me with my hubby on the cruise...

I hope you had a great weekend!!

Wow, R.M.! You look, like, 19! What great pics of you--you are rockin' it girl and I know your hubby's a happy camper (and good lookin' too!)! I had to laugh when you spoke about romance on my bike ride w/the BF, not! But my guy is a hottie (looks like Magnum P.I. or Burt Reynolds in his heyday!) so I'm lucky! Congratulations on that medal and your PR!!!! YAY!!!! I wish I could have been there to cheer you on! Keep up the great work!! emoticon emoticon

I realized why this time is so different ...

Sunday, April 01, 2012

Yesterday I wrote about the stress I was experiencing and how I had to make sure I was eating correctly. I had also just come from a 6 day vacation.
Afterwards, as I drove home I reflected on what I would have done before SparkPeople. I would have started eating whatever, whenever with no thought to what the food was or how many cals it was. Exercise wouldn't have been a focus at all.

Boy, have things changed! That's why I am not going back!!

Balancing Act...

Friday, March 30, 2012

I made it back Tuesday, and been up to my eyeballs in work since then! I am getting acupuncture right now so I have some time to write.

I came back tan and relaxed from Key West. I got a facial and Swedish massage at the Pier House Resort. It was fabulous!

The next day at work I went in to fire the employee I spoke of about one month ago. She was misusing funds. She tried to change subjects and use excuses so I gave her two weeks to come up with the receipts. She left and didn't come back. She sent a text to my husband saying she quit. I think she us going to try to collect unemployment. So now I have to decide whether or not to have her arrested.

The great news in all of this is that I got to move up the employee whose husband just died and that in turn advanced another employee. All of my employees are happy the other person is gone and it's peaceful again.

I will be glad when the whole thing is resolved. It's very stressful. I noticed last night before dinner that I was ready hungry. I was so bz at work I only ate a lettuce, carrot, and radish salad and a serving of cottage cheese. I never got a chance to heat up my soup or eat my afternoon snack. So I did eat a higher calorie dinner. I haven't run in two days either. That's the kind of stuff that happens to me when I am stressed. Today I didn't eat breakfast. I am going to really have to focus on eating better and my running again.

I need to balance myself back out.

Stress does a number on our ordinary routines. Glad to hear things are sorting out with your employees, especially the one who lost her spouse. Just get back on track as soon as you can and don't beat yourself up about it in the meanwhile. emoticon

That situation does sound very stressful! She can't collect unemployment if she quit, can she? Either way, if you have proof of her mishandling the funds, I would think that there should definitely be some kind of consequences for her. I'm glad that your other employees are receiving a little benefit now, though!

Your first run will probably snap you right back into the mindset you're used to. Enjoy it!
