Staying on Track...

Wednesday, February 08, 2012

I stayed on track today and got a lot done at work. I left work early so I could eat an early dinner and play with Roxy before heading off to school. I am taking an Early Childhood Curriculum Assessment course.

I brought my night time snack with me to eat during break - I didn't want to hit a vending machine or come home hungry. I have gotten really good at planning my meals ahead of time. It definitely helps me to stay on track.

I did not run today. I ran 6.2 miles yesterday and gave my body a break. Tomorrow I am really booked, so I probably will not run again until Friday. Today was cold - in the low 40's and it snowed a little bit. The weather is supposed to be warmer over the next four days.

I missed my SparkPeople Live Meeting. I have to take it at a different time this semester. I have participated in the Wednesday night one for about 5 months now. I am used to the routine and that particular instructor - Lauren (SparkGirl32). She is very perky. I am going to find another one I like and keep going - the meetings really help me to stay on track.

I hope you had a great day!

Hit My Goal Weight! Yayyy...

Tuesday, February 07, 2012

Today was a BIG day for me...I hit my goal weight! 38 pounds are gone for good! Yayyy! And, I did it five days before my Sparkversary!

So, what did I do to celebrate? I left work early and ran 6 miles in 1 hour and 5 minutes. My foot feels great but I am feeling it in my leg muscles tonight! Now that I have run the distance I have to work on speed.

Always something to work towards!!

    YAY!!!!!!

Keep running the distance and get used to doing it, the speed will come as your body adjusts to doing the distance regularly.

I am so happy that you reached your goal weight, you have worked hard for it!

I got the calendar.

Monday, Monday...

Monday, February 06, 2012

Today wasn't really thrilling. I was going to run during lunch break. It was 52 degrees out but there was a cold wind blowing (sorry Becky, it was too chilly for me)! I just can't stand feeling cold. I did run my son's dog yesterday 2.5 miles so I also figured I am okay today. Tomorrow I will be back on the treadmill.

Tonight I went on a SparkPeople Livemind meeting. I have always gone on Weds nights, but am starting a grad class Wednesday nights and needed to find one on a different night.

One of my assignments from the Livemind class is to share this link with you:

http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/moti
vation_articles.asp?id=760

It's a February leap year calendar of ideas. February is heart month.
This week we are encouraged to watch our sodium intake on the food tracker.
I have not done this so it should be interesting. I am a "pepper" person, I do not add salt to anything - I do not even own a salt shaker. But it will be interesting to see how much salt is added to the food I eat elsewhere.

Have a great week!

I'm not going to live that one down, am I? emoticon

It's very rare for me to add salt to things, too, or to snack on salty things. I paid attention to salt intake for a while for one of the challenges I was on last fall, though, and I have to admit that I was surprised at how much salt was already in a lot of the foods that I was eating - even stuff that doesn't taste salty.

I hope your grad class goes well!

OMG! I just signed up for the Disneyland Half Marathon...

Saturday, February 04, 2012

What a weird feeling! I feel so gutsy right now and at the same time I think I lost my mind!

I pulled the DisneyRun registration page up and read that the September 1/2 Marathon was 62% full. So I thought, "I still have time to think about it". Then I saw that it was cheaper if I signed up by February 28, so I thought "I still have time to think about it". Then I read that the payment is non-refundable and thought "maybe I should wait and be sure that I can do it".

...Then this other little voice inside my head kept saying "Just do it!" That little voice got louder and louder! I thought of all the things I have learned in the past year at SparkPeople.com, mainly how important it is to have goals. I thought about how this goal would keep me going and my weight off until at least September (lol)! It was like I got kicked in the pants - "JUST DO IT!"

So I keyed my credit card numbers in real quick and hit "send"!

There is no turning back now.

Ironically, as I pulled up my Sparkpage, my background picture stared me right in the face:

"I'm not telling you it's going to be easy, I'm telling you it's going to be worth it." OK, Jillian Michaels, I am going to trust you on this one!

I am so excited for you! I almost thought about doing it myself:) I would love to do it with you but I think I'll leave that as a goal for 2013. When I first started running, I loved it so much that I did 3 halfs in less than 2 years and ended up injuring myself. So please go slow in your training and get one of those free guides if you haven't already. I still run a little now, but only a few miles at a time. I can't wait until I can do a race like the you are doing again. I would like all my vacations to be destination races one day. Best of luck to you and I know you'll have a blast!

My brother and the Disneyland Half Marathon...

Friday, February 03, 2012

My little brother, 42, who lives in San Diego, came over to the East Coast for four days on business. He met us for dinner last night. We had a great time catching up. He runs almost every day and said he would run the Disneyland Half Marathon with me in August this year. My bff was supposed to run with me but she now has a work commitment. So, it looks like I am going to California!

Woot! That's going to be fun!

I'm okay. I didn't exercise because I didn't want to get too far from the house. I increased my calories today and I think I was burning all the calories I was eating. My nerves can do a number on me.
