Day 6 of January JumpStart Challenge and a Bum Toe...

Wednesday, January 04, 2012

Consumed 1256 cals today.

I completed tracking all my food and stayed in my calorie range but got detoured on the exercise plan...

Tonight my foot is burning. I worked til 3 then went to the chiropractor. He worked on my big toe and my scar tissue for 30 mins. It hurt pretty bad when he was trying to break up the scar tissue. We also figured out that I cannot bend my big toe. He thinks the ligament got pulled too tight, so he has to stretch it out. It is so painful. My foot is now all taped up again, trying to stretch my toe out. It especially hurts where my scar is. I can't wear my sneakers. So, I have had my foot up since I got home. I am going to take a couple advil before I go to sleep tonight. If my foot cooperates, I am going to get my toning and cardio in tomorrow morning.

I did participate in the SparkLive Meeting. We reviewed strong ways to start living a healthy lifestyle and that tracking food is strongly linked with success.
Changing up exercise and engaging in different types also helps to keep us on track.

Have a good night!

I sure hope the chiropractor can get your toe to straighten out. I hope you will be able to sleep and that the Advil took care of the pain.

Day 5 of January JumpStart Challenge and Lack of Sleep...

Tuesday, January 03, 2012

Consumed 1226 cals today.
Day 5 Jan Jumpstart toning video - 10 mins
Coach Nicole's Day 1 Cardio Boot Camp video - 10 mins

The past two nights I have woken up at 1:30 AM and it took a long time for me to fall back to sleep. I live for my 8 - 10 hours of sleep per night. The first night it was very windy out (woke me up). Last night I think it was from dancing to the kinect "just dance" late at night. Lady GaGa's song kept going through my head! (I am going to have to play that earlier in the day!) So, I did the two daily challenges above for the January Jumpstart today. I am going to try to run when I first get up tomorrow to get extra cardio minutes in. I say "try" because my chiropractor taped my toe (trying to get it away from the next one). I have tape going in every direction all over my foot! I thought it was going to hurt today since he manipulated it for one hour yesterday but it doesn't hurt at all. I go back to him tomorrow.

I am also not sleeping well because of some things going on with an employee at work. It is a very serious issue and it is just one of those times when I hate being the boss. Once I am done handling it I will feel better.

Stay Strong!!

Hang in there. How EXCELLENT that you put in a workout anyway! And staying under 1300 cal's just, frankly, amazes me!
You're fabulous.

I find that I have to workout before 5pm if I want to get any kind of sleep at night.

I would think it is the employee issue. Try to remember the last thing you dreamed before waking and maybe by thinking about doing that, you will know whether it was a noise or what caused you to wake up.

I am going go shower after writing this and get into bed.

Good job on the exercise! I hate interrupted sleep. Hopefully you can resolve the issue at work and get your ZZZZZ's again. Be careful running, but if your like me, I understand why you still want to go for it.
Keep up the good work!

Day 4 Jan JumpStart and My Skinny Jeans Fit...

Monday, January 02, 2012

Consumed 1246 cals
Day 4 SparkPeople Toning Video
Cardio - 40 mins Kinect Just Dance

Today I decided to try on my "skinny jeans" and they fit perfectly! Yayyy! I also tried on summer shorts I had packed away (size 6) and they fit, too. My husband and I are going to Florida to celebrate my father's 70th birthday and my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. Since I kept all my small clothes, I will not have to buy anything for the trip.

In the afternoon I did the toning video then went to my chiropractor to try to literally get my big toe straightened out. It hurt like you know what! He said there is a lot of scar tissue. He broke it up a little bit - worked on it for one hour - and then taped it up. I go back again Weds. I am glad this was my off running day! Tonight I am going to do my Kinect Just Dance game for one hour. I think my husband is going to do it with me so I am waiting for him to get home from work.

I hope you had a great day!

Florida is cold today. Congratulations on being able to fit comfortably into your jeans and shorts!

I hope that they fix your toe. What do you do when you stub your big toe? Call the big tow truck! My son thought that was a great joke when he was young.

emoticon on the skinny jeans...and on the trip to FL...and on having a husband who will play a dancing game with you...and on hopefully getting your toe back the way it should be. I know a lot of people don't feel too great about chiropractors, but they sure can make a big difference in things.

Love the quote! How nice to have a ready to wear wardrobe for your trip to my state for family celebrating. Congrats on those jeans! If anything is a real measure of progress, it's a clean pair of jeans. emoticon

Day 3 of January JumpStart and My Son's New Puppy...

Sunday, January 01, 2012

Consumed 931 cals.
Ran/walked 3.143 miles in 40 mins. 467 cals burned
Day 3 SparkPeople Jan JumpStart Toning Video and stretch - 10 mins

Today my calories were a little low because I missed my afternoon snack.

My son (who recently bought a townhouse) bought a new pitbull puppy. She is 14 weeks old. I had to watch it Saturday while he went with my husband to a Flyer alumni game in Philly. I was getting the house ready for our new year's eve party so she was in the crate most of the time. Roxy growled at her a lot in the beginning and then ended up ignoring her the rest of the time. His puppy, Bailey, is already bigger than Roxy. She seems like a very loving dog. She liked all the company we had last night. She was very friendly. I am not sure why he ended up with a Pitbull. Three days ago he said it was the only type he didn't want. He is working on training it but I am going to make sure he goes to training classes with her.

Anyway, my son and his new puppy slept over, so I ended up taking her for a real long walk and part run during my afternoon snack time. She did run really well along with me on the leash. I don't run with Roxy anymore because she will be going good and then stop dead. I hurt my foot that way 2 years ago. Roxy does walk really fast which does get my heart rate up. And she can walk for an hour and want to keep going. I told my son how good his puppy did with running, and reiterated taking her out for a lot of exercise. I am a huge fan of Cesar Milan (I met/saw him last year at one of his talks) and exercising dogs makes all the difference in the world with their behavior.

I completed Day 3 of January JumpStart. Today I ran for my 30 cardio. This program should help me get back in the swing of running.

Happy New Year!! emoticon

Bailey looks adorable. I hope Roxy doesn't get jealous. I like watching Cesar Milan's shows, he's so smart about dogs. I'm thinking about getting one of his books or dvd's because it's been a long time since I raised a puppy.

It's Been a Couple of Insanely BZ Days!...

Sunday, January 01, 2012

Whew! I had a great time and got a lot done, but am so New Year's Day has arrived. I have been running around like a nut!

I didn't even "log in" on the 28th! It was such a pain to go back and track my food but I did! I did really well the past 2 days on my calories even though I didn't get a chance at the time to log my food. I am now in the habit of knowing when and what to eat - yayyy! One night I had a few rum and diet cokes and italian bread and still managed to consume 1250 cals for the day! When dining out I have learned that baked/steamed seafood is my best choice! My husband and I ended up dancing for 3 hours with a bunch of friends that night. Yesterday my foot was sore (must have been on it to much) so I didn't run on the treadmill or do cardio.

I had a bunch of friends over last night for New Year's Eve. I served baked ziti, meatballs, a huge veggie tray, fruit tray, fresh salsa and chips and various desserts. The party started at 8 PM, so I ate my dinner before the party and snacked on the veggie tray and drank cranberry juice in my new favorite wine glass. I did have three water wafers with this fantastic smoked salmon/cream cheese/dill dip one of my friend's made - it was delicious! My cals consumed yesterday were 1285. - Yayyy!

Today my foot is feeling a lot better, so I will be doing my cardio, toning and take a little run on the treadmill. I am excited about doing the January Jumpstart program. I am happy that I can do it at work, too. It may be the way to fit everything in.

Happy New Year!

What a great idea of the cranberry juice in a wine glass. We have family that pushes stuff on us. We didn't go anywhere this New Year's eve. My husband and I had problems with alcohol, so we no longer drink. But for the grace of God, I might be dead from drinking. I like the taste of mixed drinks and wine too much.

You are doing so well! Keep up the good work, your goal is in sight.
