Day 9 Jan Jumpstart Challenge

Saturday, January 07, 2012

21 minutes - 2 mile run
10 minutes - .57 mile walk
Total cals burned: 372
Arms Toning Spark Video - Parts 1 & 2
2 miles - walking/running dogs
Consumed 982 cals

After walking Roxy this morning, I decided to run outside. That was, until I got changed into running clothes and stepped back outside without my ski coat! I turned around and ran on my treadmill. I am not a fan of freezing, or sweating while it is freezing!

My husband and I went out for a late lunch with old friends. I drank a protein drink after my morning work out. It was perfect and kept me filled until our late lunch. I ordered my favorite shrimp and strawberry salad. We were there for 3 1/2 hours, talking away! I drank 4 unsweetened iced teas! I didn't eat any of the bread.

We then picked Roxy up and went down to my sons. I was planning on eating dinner later at home, but we stayed at his house and watched Hangover 2. My husband ordered a sub, my son a pizza, and I ordered a greek salad and ate 1/2 of it. We didn't get home until 11:30 PM and I am not hungry so that is why my cals are so low today.

Tomorrow we are planning on staying home and relaxing, so I should eat more.

I took my son's dog out for a nice long walk/run tonight while I was there. She runs really good next to me. Roxy growls at her and she just wants to play with Roxy. She is just a puppy and has A LOT of energy. I think that may be why Roxy is growling. His puppy also thinks she is a "lap" dog. She loves to be close to everyone and hops up and lays on everyone's lap! Pretty funny for a pitbull!

Hope you had a good day!

And, yes, do make sure you enjoy some food today! emoticon

Day 8 January Jumpstart and I have a Plan..

30 min run/walk cool down - 360 cals burned
1263 cals consumed

Last night I decided I really needed to get back in the swing of 30 mins of exercise everyday. I thought about how I did it before my foot surgery, and knew I had to get back in the habit of running when I first woke up. So, that is what I did today. It is really nice to get it out of the way first thing in the morning, before I go to work. My foot/toe was a little sore at first but I was okay. And it never hurt later. I am leaning to my right because my foot is sore, but I go to a chiropractor three times a week and get re-aligned so I am going to keep going.

I am still dealing with the problem employee at work. It is requiring a lot of patience on my part - and it's complicated, but I am collecting evidence. She knows she is in trouble. I will be working part of this weekend sorting through what she did. I do feel better now that I am working on it and have confronted her. I am so glad that I run at times like this, it makes me feel so much better.

My son (that lives at home) is in Connecticut for 4 days. My husband and I have the house to ourselves. We were going to watch Hangover 2 but he has already fallen asleep on the couch! Tomorrow we are going out to lunch with friends, I guess we will try to watch it tomorrow night. He has worked over time all week long. I think it wore him out.

I hope you had a great week and enjoy your weekend!

I agree, exercising first thing in the morning is the best. Glad your toe is feeling better! emoticon

I should do my exercise in the morning and I think I would feel energized for my day. I always leave it go until after supper.

Running is such a stress reliever.

I really felt it in my arm tonight doing the exercise lying on my stomach with my arms at my sides palms up. The exercises I had to do for physical therapy are on Spark People and I don't have to pay a $25 co-pay to do them.

Tomorrow, I hope to help with the wood when the truck is unloaded. I restacked the wood we have inside to get the logs that were smaller in diameter out of the stack to burn during the day.

Day 6 of January JumpStart Challenge and a Bum Toe...

Wednesday, January 04, 2012

Consumed 1256 cals today.

I completed tracking all my food and stayed in my calorie range but got detoured on the exercise plan...

Tonight my foot is burning. I worked til 3 then went to the chiropractor. He worked on my big toe and my scar tissue for 30 mins. It hurt pretty bad when he was trying to break up the scar tissue. We also figured out that I cannot bend my big toe. He thinks the ligament got pulled too tight, so he has to stretch it out. It is so painful. My foot is now all taped up again, trying to stretch my toe out. It especially hurts where my scar is. I can't wear my sneakers. So, I have had my foot up since I got home. I am going to take a couple advil before I go to sleep tonight. If my foot cooperates, I am going to get my toning and cardio in tomorrow morning.

I did participate in the SparkLive Meeting. We reviewed strong ways to start living a healthy lifestyle and that tracking food is strongly linked with success.
Changing up exercise and engaging in different types also helps to keep us on track.

Have a good night!

I sure hope the chiropractor can get your toe to straighten out. I hope you will be able to sleep and that the Advil took care of the pain.

Day 5 of January JumpStart Challenge and Lack of Sleep...

Tuesday, January 03, 2012

Consumed 1226 cals today.
Day 5 Jan Jumpstart toning video - 10 mins
Coach Nicole's Day 1 Cardio Boot Camp video - 10 mins

The past two nights I have woken up at 1:30 AM and it took a long time for me to fall back to sleep. I live for my 8 - 10 hours of sleep per night. The first night it was very windy out (woke me up). Last night I think it was from dancing to the kinect "just dance" late at night. Lady GaGa's song kept going through my head! (I am going to have to play that earlier in the day!) So, I did the two daily challenges above for the January Jumpstart today. I am going to try to run when I first get up tomorrow to get extra cardio minutes in. I say "try" because my chiropractor taped my toe (trying to get it away from the next one). I have tape going in every direction all over my foot! I thought it was going to hurt today since he manipulated it for one hour yesterday but it doesn't hurt at all. I go back to him tomorrow.

I am also not sleeping well because of some things going on with an employee at work. It is a very serious issue and it is just one of those times when I hate being the boss. Once I am done handling it I will feel better.

Stay Strong!!

Hang in there. How EXCELLENT that you put in a workout anyway! And staying under 1300 cal's just, frankly, amazes me!
You're fabulous.

I find that I have to workout before 5pm if I want to get any kind of sleep at night.

I would think it is the employee issue. Try to remember the last thing you dreamed before waking and maybe by thinking about doing that, you will know whether it was a noise or what caused you to wake up.

I am going go shower after writing this and get into bed.

Good job on the exercise! I hate interrupted sleep. Hopefully you can resolve the issue at work and get your ZZZZZ's again. Be careful running, but if your like me, I understand why you still want to go for it.
Keep up the good work!

Day 4 Jan JumpStart and My Skinny Jeans Fit...

Monday, January 02, 2012

Consumed 1246 cals
Day 4 SparkPeople Toning Video
Cardio - 40 mins Kinect Just Dance

Today I decided to try on my "skinny jeans" and they fit perfectly! Yayyy! I also tried on summer shorts I had packed away (size 6) and they fit, too. My husband and I are going to Florida to celebrate my father's 70th birthday and my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. Since I kept all my small clothes, I will not have to buy anything for the trip.

In the afternoon I did the toning video then went to my chiropractor to try to literally get my big toe straightened out. It hurt like you know what! He said there is a lot of scar tissue. He broke it up a little bit - worked on it for one hour - and then taped it up. I go back again Weds. I am glad this was my off running day! Tonight I am going to do my Kinect Just Dance game for one hour. I think my husband is going to do it with me so I am waiting for him to get home from work.

I hope you had a great day!

Florida is cold today. Congratulations on being able to fit comfortably into your jeans and shorts!

I hope that they fix your toe. What do you do when you stub your big toe? Call the big tow truck! My son thought that was a great joke when he was young.

emoticon on the skinny jeans...and on the trip to FL...and on having a husband who will play a dancing game with you...and on hopefully getting your toe back the way it should be. I know a lot of people don't feel too great about chiropractors, but they sure can make a big difference in things.
