Moving My Son and Bob Seger and Christina...

Sunday, December 04, 2011

consumed 1200 cals yesterday - lost another pound!

Yesterday was such a busy day. We moved my son into his new townhouse. He had a lot of stuff - filled a u-haul and 3 pick-up trucks and we had already been taking things over throughout the week. I came home around 3 PM, took a quick nap and was showered and out the door at 5 PM to go to dinner and see Bob Seger with friends. Looking back I am glad I had somewhere to go afterwards. As I told my son I am very proud of him and know it is time for hime to go, but I am going to miss him. He is my first child to REALLY leave. (after college, etc.)

I packed my lunch and snack yesterday - it saved me a lot of calories. The men and my son went out to a sandwich shop when we were done - my husband said the sandwiches were huge. I had a really good grilled chicken salad for dinner and a couple glasses of red wine during the night. (that is where the extra cals came from). I did dance pretty much the whole concert so I think I may have balanced it out!

So today I vacuumed my study. We gave my son the sleeper sofa that was in it, so now we are bringing the exercise bike out of the basement to put next to my treadmill! My foot doctor has cleared me to use the bike, and it will be nice to get some good cardio in everyday until I can run miles again!

Later this afternoon I think I am meeting my friend Christina in Baltimore - if she gets out of work early. I haven't seen her in a long time because she lives in Texas. She lost 140 pounds using Medifast and is now a spokeperson for them. Evidentally, she is in a lot of commercials too. She has been taping all weekend. I hadn't heard of Medifast, but apparently it is coming to the Northeast. She always struggled with her weight (I have known her for 20 years). After she lost it, she took a job at Medifast so she wouldn't gain it back. She is now a sales manager. I did mention SparkPeople.com to her. She is going to let her boss know about it and said they will probably advertise.

So, I am going to get back to cleaning now. I hope you are having a great weekend. I should be able to spend more time on here and cheer you on by tomorrow! emoticon

Great job on your calories! it's hard when your kids move out but you just have to trust that you did a good job raising him and he'll be fine.

I admire you for sticking to 1200 calories-wow, I guess you've motivared me to try to do the same. 1200 calories is really difficult..I get hungry! But I think if I get the hang of being a little hungry, I will be able to do it. Sounds very productive/eventful weekend for you..I love Bob Seger!

PS ..adore your Boston, Roxy. So cute! Big Boston Terrier fan here! :)!

Physical Therapy

Friday, December 02, 2011

Consumed 1000 calories today, lost another pound today!

I started physical therapy today because I can't move my big toe. I never knew it was possible to go to pt for a toe! I saw people way worse than I am - working so hard just to be able to use their right leg or arm after suffering a stroke, or after getting injured in a car accident. I am not going to feel sorry for myself anymore for not being able to run.

The first thing I was told to do was ride the stationary bike for 10 minutes. It was so nice to do cardio!! I peddled so fast and hard I worked up a good sweat. It felt so good - I loved it. I am going to go back to the gym now and use the bike and stationary machines. I also had to pick up marbles with my toes, and did a lot of other exercises.

I then went to work for 3 hours and then went over to my son's new house and cleaned his kitchen and lined all the drawers. My husband brought Roxy over after work - she was running around like crazy! She was by herself too much this week. After tomorrow, it should be "back to normal" for her. I took her home as my son and husband were deep cleaning the carpets.

Now I am home and tired out. Tomorrow we are moving all of my son's big stuff, so I am hoping to get a good night sleep. I am going to a Bob Seger concert tomorrow night and want to be ready to sing and dance!

TGIF!!

Have Officially Lost 30 Pounds and Now Have Healthy BMI...

Thursday, December 01, 2011

807 cals consumed today. Lost 1 pound - that makes a total of 30 since my start. I am now in the "healthy weight" bmi range. Yayyy!

Another busy day! I left at 7 AM for NYC to attend a meeting in Manhattan, and just got home at 11:00 PM!! We got a lot done at the meeting. We had a "working lunch". I was happy to see veggie wraps and ate 1/2 of one with grapes. We went to dinner at the Outback Steakhouse - I had grilled shrimp and steamed broccoli. Along with breakfast before I left, I only had 807 calories. I felt a little nauseous driving home, so I am not feeling like an evening snack. I chatted with one colleague that runs 1/2 marathons. She gave me tips when preparing for the Disney 1/2 marathon next fall. Just talking about it got me excited! Can't wait til I can run again.

Tomorrow morning I have physical therapy for my foot then work then back to my son's townhouse to finish cleaning. Whewwww!! What a week!

Hope you are having a great one!

    emoticon on your healthy BMI!
I sure hope that you're feeling better today. Hopefully the nausea was just a result of being overly tired and not the beginnings of something really yucky.
It's great that you have a coworker who is a runner and can give you tips. It probably makes her feel good to be able to help you, too.

emoticon emoticon on 30 pounds gone.

I wonder if your nausea comes from low blood sugar. You should try to eat something.

When you run, you have to eat more because of the body using up the carbs. That is what I wonder about. Not that I have started running, but how much do you eat before running a marathon?

I had a crappy day and I don't use that word lightly, lol.

Exhausting Day and SparkLive Meeting Plug...

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

I consumed 1129 cals today.

It is 7:30 PM and I am exhausted!

I went to work early, left at 11 AM - went to Walmart and bought lots of cleaning supplies, ate my packed lunch in the car while I drove down to my son's townhouse, emptied it all into his new garage, went with him to his settlement, went back home and loaded up the truck again and went back to the townhouse, cleaned two bathrooms and 1/2 the kitchen cabinets. Still have a long way to go! I wouldn't say the seller's left it filthy, but they definitely didn't sweep, vacuum, windex, etc after they moved...which is not cool. Whenever we sell a house, I leave it spotless for the new buyer. It is not fun having to go in and clean right away. It is going to take me til Saturday to get it done!! And, when I am done, that is it - after that it is up to my son to do.
(He is shampooing all the carpets this week. My husband and friends are helping him move the "big stuff" Saturday - not that much of it). He just ran back over with another load of stuff - to be young again!

So, that was my day. I hope I am able to stay up through Biggest Loser!

Oh! Also: tomorrow night I will be participating in SparkPeople Live Meeting at 8 PM with Lauren (SparkGirl32). I saw a banner stating that you can try a class for FREE.
If you have been thinking of trying one this may be the time for you! It's one hour long and I think you will like it. It has really helped me to stay focused and has become part of my schedule.

Hope to see you tomorrow night!!

I had to clean this house after we moved, so I had to wrestle boxes and furniture. I bought foam rubber things on the ends of plastic wands like you would use on drinking glasses and used them for hard to reach corners. Once the cleaning was done, I threw them away. I also bought 12 cloth baby diapers and used them. They could be bleached and reused.

I would definitely say you got in your workout. Heavy cleaning is listed under cardio. Write down your start and stop times and count those minutes/hours and rack up those exercise minutes.

I'd say you really had a workout today! Hope you sleep well! My accomplishment for today was spending it at an Advent retreat day and not going over my calories. I'm getting better at this!

Work and the Kids...

Monday, November 28, 2011

Today I consumed 1150 cals.

I worked long hours today, got a lot done. I am only working a 1/2 day tomorrow - my son has settlement on his townhouse in the afternoon and he wants me to look over the paperwork - and there will be a lot!! I think he is starting to get excited about it, he actually started packing yesterday. He lived at home when he went to college, so this is going to be a big adjustment for all of us. I am going to miss him, but I know he's ready and it is time. He was the "harder" one of the two boys to raise. He has A.D.D. and was quite a handful. He always stood out, and floats to his own boat. He was a lot of work, but now has graduated college (straight A's), has a great job, great girlfriend and a new home at 23. All of our hard work paid off! ...but, I will still always worry about him.

So that will leave one 20 year old son at home until June when he moves into an apartment with his best friends. He lived away from home (at college) for 1 1/2 years - he was too social, so he had to come home and go to a local University. His main problem is he doesn't know what he wants to do. He is going to go part time next semester and work to try and figure it out. He is the one who can't see out of the left side of his left eye, which makes it even more dandy! He is VERY big into weight lifting - maybe he will do something with that?

My husband is working late tonight, so I ate my healthy dinner and threw together a cheeseburger pie for him to eat whenever he gets home. I won't be seeing him too much this week, so I decided to make some special meals for him.

That leaves exercise - haven't been getting too much strength training in. I am thinking about taking some free weights to work and doing it at lunch time. I also found a yoga dvd I want to try - just can't do anything on my toes. I have to go to physical therapy because my big toe is leaning over the next one. There may be scar tissue, etc. Between going there and getting another xray next Monday, I should know what I will be able to do - I am getting antsey!!

Hope you had a great day!

Both of my children have A.D.D. and I do too, we're special! But I agree, we can be a handful!

Good luck on your p.t. and x-ray. emoticon

My two left home, then moved back in again. My daughter left first, my son moved home again a year ago.

My parents told me to try to educate myself in something I really liked. I never completed any long-term college. I took night classes here and there.
