Day 11 of Recovery and Back to Work...

Monday, October 24, 2011

Today my husband took me into work for about 3 hours. I got around good with my scooter - so glad the buildings are handicapped accessible! I got a lot of paperwork done, and caught up with some of my staff. I sat most of the time.

I brought a Nutrisystem lunch bar with me in case my husband wanted to go out to lunch while we were out. I planned on ordering a side salad and side veggie to go with it. That changed when he said he wanted to go to Chik Filet! He went through the drive-thru and I did not get anything! As we drove home, I had an "aha moment" -- no wonder it was taking so long to lose weight!! And, I was again thankful I had gone on a program before my surgery - I know I would have gained weight if I had not. I am proud to say I had my lunch bar and yogurt when I got home.

I made my family dinner tonight, too. I threw skinless chicken breasts in my crockpot this morning and they cooked all day coated with peach mango salsa.
I also made mashed potatoes, peas, broccoli, and served fruit cocktail. I had a Nutrisystem entree with the veggies and fruit. We all had a nice meal together and I was happy to be cooking again. I ate 1036 calories today.

Tonight I am going to look at the Chair Exercise DVD I received today in the mail if my husband gets a chance to bring the DVD player down from upstairs.

I hope you had a great day, too!

I got up this morning and looked in the fridge, not much in there. I grabbed Cool Whip and ate what was left in the container. I calmed down after that and had a bagel and cream cheese and a sandwich for lunch. I didn't eat inbetween meals today which doesn't happen often.

You passed your temptation test. I rarely pass up fast food. It is a good thing our finances are tight because none is bought.

Excellent progress while you mend.

Day 10 of Recovery and not hungry today...

Sunday, October 23, 2011

Today I didn't eat as much as I should have - 1075 cals. and low on carbs. I am not hungry today.

I went into work for about 3 hours to "catch-up" while no one was there. I am pretty tired. Was out with our friends until a little after midnight, wasn't sleepy so I messed around on the computer, and then one of my sons came down around 2 upset about school (college-grades-his major-his life), so I didn't get to sleep until around 3 AM! I woke up at 9 AM, so I am short about 2 hours. I am going to try to go to sleep earlier tonight, but I know he is going to want to talk again when he gets home from work around 11 PM.

I do feel stressed because he is in distress. I don't eat much when I am stressed - I actually lose my appetite.

Here's hoping he doesn't get in to late from work tonight!!

My son works until 10 PM and then has about a half an hour drive to get home. I overeat when stressed. I did last night because my husband was sick.

I hope you catch up on your sleep and get in the proper amounts of carbs and calories. I can do that for awhile, but I usually binge when I do. A nutritionist for diabetes told me to eat the full amount of carbs I am allowed to have 45 for 3 meals, and two snacks of 15 carbs each.

I told my kids to try to find what type of work they like to do then find a major that would help them in their fields of interest.

That is one factor of stress that many miss, most are worried about overeating. Undereating is the side I tend to take too. It is tough, just remember a day or two of low calories is okay, but we want our bodies to know that we will feed them.

Day 9 of Recovery and Out to a Restaurant...

Sunday, October 23, 2011

Today started out pretty boring. Stayed on the couch until 1 PM, washed my hair in the sink then got ready to go out with friends to a restaurant. The restaurant choices were Mexican or Seafood. I voted seafood, along with a few others so that is where we went. This particular group always orders appetizers and alcoholic beverages, so I decided to be proactive and pull up the menu on-line before we went. I put two seafood choices in the nutrition tracker (grilled tilapia and steamed shrimp). Shrimp won out (about half the cals of the tilapia). The restaurant picked only offered side salad as a veggie, so I got that and coleslaw. They brought out about 1 1/2 cups so I ate 1/2 and shoved the rest to the side. They also brought me a large corn on the cob, so I gave that to someone else. My friends ordered fried crab balls (crabmeat rolled in a ball, dipped in batter & deep fried) and a big bowl of heated melted cheese with pita bread. The crab balls came out with raw baby carrots and celery stix so I grabbed a couple of those while everybody else ate the rest. I drank an unsweetened iced tea. I was filled by the time I was done eating and did not have a hard time passing up on the fattening stuff.

Afterward, we went to one of the couple's houses to watch a movie and, of course there was more food and drinks there. I chose a bottled water. I brought a bag of Nutrisystem pretzels and ate those during the movie.

What helped me?
1. I told my friends I am on the Nutrisystem plan while my foot is healing. They also know I will not drink any alcohol on the plan and while my foot is healing.
2. I have thought about this plan for about 1 month now and I have been following this plan for a little over a week now. I am seeing big results on the scale so I am definitely focused on following through.

So, at the end of the day, I consumed 1063 cals in total.

Day 8 of Recovery was Pretty Boring...

Friday, October 21, 2011

After yesterday, I decided to "cool it" today. Iced my foot all day and stayed off of it. I even skipped my work-out, felt like I needed a total break. I know it's important to listen to my body right now.

Hard to believe it has been eight days. In some ways it feels like it is flying by - in other ways I have a long way to go. I am thinking about all the progress I am making with my weight loss, so I am not thinking about seven more weeks of being off my foot.

My food intake is going very well. I am right on target with my calories. Tonight my husband made a buffalo chicken wrap, french fries, and broccoli and cauliflower with processed cheese. If I hadn't purchased nutrisystem, that would have been my meal. SHEW!!! I am so happy that I thought ahead!

I have to say that reading all of your blogs and statuses is really helping! Everyone has positive things going on, even those of you with injuries. I am reading about all sorts of WOOHOO moments!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Don't worry about all your progress. Your body has a built in memory for exercise and running. You'll be back up and going in no time. For now just accept slow like the turtle so you win the race! emoticon

Your Halloween decorations are so pretty! I love the sunshine that is streaming through the background. We are enjoying a sunny day. We might see 60 degrees. Great workout weather. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Life has been crazy busy over here. I'm going to be so tested with stress--which is the main reason why I ever had a weight problem. My son needs to move in until his home is built. His wife and 3 kiddos all under 4. I have some really great supporters that are on their own weight loss journey. I'm not that worried the kids moving home. Also, I started using weights this week and it made a huge difference in my energy and weight loss. emoticon

My leader just told our group today that in back 2010 at this same time the members of Weight Watchers lost 4,000,000 pounds! emoticon

I hope you have a good weekend!!

I think I had my husband set up a card table and I put together some jigsaw puzzles while I was recoving from my surgery. I know I read and did paperwork that needed to be done. I put our receipts on a spreadsheet and take the spreadsheets when we itemize our income taxes.

Yes, I love having Princess to walk with me. She is a high-energy dog but she is an airhead. People are leary of her and generally we do our walks after dark. When she sees another dog, she is like a marlin on the end of a fishing line, except she is on her leash. I figure that some owners may have taken their dogs inside by the time it is dark.

When I had foot surgery and was off my feet for far too long, I found Sit and Be Fit. It kept me moving, even seated, without impeding my recovery. Best wishes on your recovery. emoticon
