Time flies by...

Saturday, October 01, 2011

October 1...can you believe it?! My middle child will be 29 tomorrow. I remember being 29 and pregnant (she is also) like it was almost yesterday. I pray this month gives good news for my oldest son as it has been tough lately and also good news for my youngest son. It is a cold and rainy day today. I hope it isn't an all day rain so I can get outside and pick up more walnuts. Have a great weekend, regardless of the weather. Hi ho..hi ho...it is off to the elliptical I go.

Walnuts...

Friday, September 30, 2011

Today and everyday my workout with include picking up walnuts from our three walnut trees that have fruited this year. The garbage men already have an issue with me and those heavy bags! Hey if a 55 year old woman can lift them, what is their problem anyway?! Yesterday I cleared out my big flower box...boohoo...winter is coming!! Have a great weekend.

We had walnut trees on the farm when I was growing up. It was a lot of work shelling them. Picking them up will be great calorie-burning exercise.

Wish I could grow walnuts! It is too cold here except for an occasional black walnut that makes it.

My Spark OCD Statistics

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

I joined SparkPeople on 2/4/2009 and now have 966 consecutive days on Spark, 96,050 total points, 103,490 fitness minutes, in 3 days (including today) I will have worn my pedometer for 20 months and I have averaged a little over 21,000 steps per day. I have gone from 177 lbs. to 144 lbs. That is correct, I am OCD and I have a lot of stress and I feel I keep it in control by exercising. I am told that people a lot of the time exercise because they feel that is the one sure-fire thing they do have control of in their lives (at least this is true in my case). Well, I am sure in control of my weight and fitness right now. Did I mention I have 73% overall trivia accuracy. I wasn't so good in the beginning but it takes forever to raise it a single percent! Have a great week!

Way to go. You are light years ahead of me. Some of us are slower learners. Amazing how long we can wander around after making a decision to live healthier! I admire people that set a goal and just do it. My hats off to you.

Keep on Sparking. You are doing wonderful. I feel a bit OCD about SparkPeople myself. It is not quite a year but I have only missed two days when I was out to sea and did not have internet. And I missed it. Enjoy your day emoticon

Let it begin with me...

Saturday, September 24, 2011

Today I am not going to accept unacceptable behavior and I will begin this by refusing to accept it from myself. While out shopping and with my friends and family, if someone isn't courteous to me I will realize that I am powerless against their attitude and I will choose to not react with confrontation. I will depend on my own attitudes and feelings. Besides, you don't know what that other person is dealing with in their own personal lives. Have a blessed weekend.

Good attitude. That should take away some stress.
Not accepting unacceptable behavior from ourselves can be a little harder, especially when our emotions and feelings are involved. Amazing how long we can carry on internally over something that upsets us...and it does little to change the situation except to make everyone around us miserable, too. It's a worthy undertaking to do what we can to smooth our the bumps.
Here's to a happy outlook.

It's not what happens to us, but our reaction to what happens to us that often creates our environment. Good thoughts, enjoy your day.

A gift...

Friday, September 23, 2011

I have a cartoon that is on my refrigerator and has yellowed because it is so old...It is a Ziggy cartoon... and reads "Today is a Gift, that is why it is called the Present". Have a great day and weekend.

Excellent. How true. Each day is a gift. Once spent, it is gone. We only have the present.
