Juggling Balls. . .

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

I once heard a very wise lady say, "everyday you are desperately trying to juggle balls. Let me give you permission to drop a few. The ball of trying to please everyone all the time, trying to do everything for everyone and never doing anything for yourself." When she said that I suddenly felt like it was OK to relax a little and pay attention to my needs. An epiphany of sorts. You mean it is alright for me to do something for myself? Lightening won't strike the spa if I go and get a massage??

At the time I had two little girls under the age of 5 and I was a Kindergarten Teacher and a husband who was in the Navy & gone two months at a time and a house to clean..etc..etc..etc..You know what I am talking about. We all have things in our lives that keep us busy. Never let your busy life keep you from taking time for yourself!! Spending time at the gym is a wonderful way to take time for yourself because after awhile you will notice that the positive endorphins you get from exercise will stabilize your moods and help fight depression. You may never LOVE to be in a Spin Class but you will love the way it makes you feel when you are finished.

Having coffee with a friend, getting your nails done, playing with the grandchildren, driving to the lake, having a massage, reading a book, or going shopping are all things that we need in our lives and it is OK to do them on a regular basis as a way to relax!!

Rest and recovery . It is a very important part and now on week 3 of some of my challenges I felt it was an appropriate subject to address. God rested from his work. I always take one day a week off from the gym to let my muscles recover. Usually for me it is Sunday because I go to church and then try to do something with the grandchildren that they enjoy. Rest doesn't have to be taking a nap although if you want a nap..take it! It can also be doing something for yourself that will make you feel pampered and valuable.

Many times we eat too much because we are trying to relieve stress that would be relieved much more effectively if we just took time to breathe. Next time the kids are screaming, the phone is ringing, and the house is a mess just realize that this may be a perfect time to go for a walk or go to the mall. DON'T go the fridge!!

Basically what I am saying is give yourself permission to RELAX a little. Give yourself a break! If you don't take care of yourself then you will burn out and who will take care of everyone else?? Rest is good and necessary. Embrace it as part of your new life!! I'll see you at the spa!!

Thank you to all my Spark Friends,

Rosie

Hi there! I couldn't agree more. That's mainly why I enjoy exercising as much as I do - it's one part of the day that's entirely about me. Keep up the great work!

thanks for the reminder. I do have my down time, I do enjoy reading or catching up with my shows. I find walking has also been very relaxing and feels like a reward to me. As someone had posted, my yoga class has also been a very relaxing time.

    Hi Rosie,
Thanks for this message.
It is SO true...we can only push ourselves
so far. We have to recognize when we need
to "drop a few balls" and take care of ourselves!
Sunday is also my day of rest. I have recently
started taking a yoga/pilates type class...feels so
good to stretch out those muscles that are working so
hard for me! I also think, I'm not eating enough for
the amount of exercise I'm doing and need to re-evaulate that.
(`v) Take care of YOU!
.`.. Hugs,

This is all so true. And I have found that lately, I really DO need to give myself permission to drop a few of the balls that I have in the air and do a few things for me.
THanks for posting this.

I am so glad that I read this today! It was just what I needed to read. It is true that everything that you need to do like dishes or dusting will still be there. My kids are growing up so fast! I love spending time with them. I just wish my husband would understand that!

Peace and Prayers,

Thank you, I think I'll go for that walk now. The first ball I'm going to drop are the three teams I work so hard to get live into, but they just don't grow.

This is just the message I needed today!

Growing Weary In Well Doing.

Friday, August 21, 2009

"Don't grow weary in doing well because in due season you will reap if you faint not".

Just this morning when the storm came in at 4 am & my 16 year old was in the mood to talk when I just wanted to get those precious last minutes of sleep. I was so exhausted I could not keep my eyes open. But guess what ? I had to wake up & be there for him. When I got to the gym I was so exhausted I could not find the strength to go on. I have to keep going. I had to keep moving. I have to be patient with my son & take the workout punishment at the gym.

My children will tell you that my favorite saying while they were growing up was two wrongs don't make a right. But doing allot of rights make you stronger and cause you to obtain what you are working for at the right time. We can't just lose weight overnight. It will be a process & it will take hours a day of work. Believe me, there have been days where I could have fainted but I keep on pushing through. At the end I will have my hope of reaching my goal.

What is it that you want out of life? Don't faint!!! Don't Quit!!! Keep going and eventually you will get to where you want to be! ! ! emoticon

Be Blessed,

Rosie emoticon

Your title caught my attention, and I see that you have not put out a blog in a while, so I thought a response would be nice for you. I just made my first blog post ever. I am new to on-line communities. I am not on facebook or anything else, and I can't see that I will be. I like this community though! I am having fun just checking it all out. My Grandmother used to always tell me to press on. I will press on. I am sure I will grow weary, but I will not faint!

Hi Rosie! (Did you know that Prairie Dawn is a rose?)

"...doing allot of rights make you stronger and cause you to obtain what you are working for at the right time."

Yes and no. Patience also means taking care of YOU so you can continue to push forward for good health and to care for your family. Don't burnout. (Been there, done that a few times.) Sometimes when you are exhausted you really do need to rest instead of working out. You are worth it!

I hope you came out of the storm ok. We've had a couple scary ones this summer, too.

Live everyday to the Fullest.

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Remember....live every day to the fullest. Each minute is a blessing?from God. And never forget ...?the people?who make a difference in our?lives are not the ones with?the most credentials, the most money, or?the most awards They are the ones that care for us.? ? If you see someone without a smile today give them one of yours! Live?simply. Love seriously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave?the rest to?God.?

The last sentence of your blog is my signature! I love that! Your blog is so true. I was just blogging on how much I treasured my family vacation last week, cause I know in some quickly approaching years, my kids are not likely going to want to hang out on vacation with their parents! haha! So I savored every minute of it!
