Happy Friday All!
It's been a long week & I'm looking forward to relaxing this weekend. I'm going to run errands & get some shopping done. For sure, I'm going to get up to the farmers market & load up on veggies & fruits. I'm wanting to SPREAD MY WINGS & expand my palate! So I'm looking for new & exciting taste sensations!
I've been trying something new each time I visit the market, & so far I've been pleased. On the last visit, I bought almond butter. I need to take in more"good" fats & so I thought I'd give it a try. My daughter uses it & encouraged me to try it. I put 1 tbsp on a mini bagel & I have to admit it was quite tasty.
Let's see...I've tried greek yogurt the visit before. Now, this I LOVE & am using daily! I've tried a couple different brands & they've all been delicious!
I've tried steel cut oats a time before that. Mmmmmm...was delish w/honey! Very filling & satisfying too! I just need to make certain I have time to COOK it in the morning!
I've also tried flaxseed, which I've ground up & keep in the frig. The first day I used it...I added 2 tbsp to my yogurt (so okay, I read it was a "serving size") along with the fruit, go lean crunch, & walnuts. Um, I quiiiickly found out that I should have started out SLOWLY & worked UP to 2 tbsp, 'cause it went RIGHT THROUGH ME! I now use 1 tbsp. daily...
If anyone has suggestions on what I should try next, please share!! I'm open to trying new foods/fruits/veggies! As they say...VARIETY is the SPICE of LIFE!

Yep. I just realized it today! I AM ADDICTED TO SPARKPEOPLE! I tell you why...
I got up at 4 ish this morning JUST so I could log on & get my points, check my sparkmail, check my sparkpage, & check my blog responses. I also wanted time to check in & huddle w/my teams & get through the message boards. Then I'm responding back to people who've left me messages, sparkgoodies, & sparkmail! Now ya see, I had to work today (I don't work everyday, I'm a fill in nurse & I only work a couple days a week, at most) & I knew I would be running late getting off to work if I got up at my normal time.
Now, does this sound a bit strange at all to you? Well, wait....there's more!
Tic...Tic...Tic. The clock is ticking.
Okay, so I need to pack a lunch & have breakfast. I log on to SP again so I can calculate my calories for breakfast & lunch & document them on my tracker. I'm actually EATING my breakfast as I'm recording everything! Mind you, an eye on the clock all the while cause I've gotta be going! More responding to sparkgoodies, messages, etc.
I just couldn't log off! I didn't WANT to! And all the while I was at work today...I kept thinking about SparkPeople & wishing I could log on & see what's been happening thoughout the day while I was at work! Weird, huh?
And now, realization is setting in... Could I be addicted to SparkPeople??? I'm not on Facebook or MySpace or any other kind of social network... so I don't have any experience w/this sort of thing.
Is it possible??? Am I?

Short & sweet tonight!
I weighed in at 208.8 lbs this morning for a loss of 10.2 lbs since beginning SP on 8/11/10! I'm very pleased with my results thus far & plan to continue doing what I've been doing! So, I have walked today. I've had my water. I've tracked my food & I'm pretty much on target for the day! And I've checked in often with SP!
For now, I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing, 'cause it's working! How's the saying go?
...If it ain't broke, don't fix it! I think that's it!
Life is good & I'm gonna keep Sparkin!

When I think about how far I've come since joining SparkPeople on 8/11/10, I realize just how far I'd fallen when it comes to my overall health & well-being. I was a BIG couch potato... & I was always either stress eating or eating out of boredom. At times, I couldn't find the right food to satisfy my cravings, so I would just eat & eat until either I was stuffed or it was time to go to bed. I'm NOT kidding! My portions were waaayyy out of control! Sometimes I would have seconds or even thirds! The foods I ate were often loaded with fat, heavy duty with carbs... &/or high in calories...non of which were any good for my body! I was embarrassed by my weight & hid my body w/long jackets or cover up shirts. Oh, like no one could tell I was overweight! (eyes rolling)
Well, this is ALL in the past! Since I've joined SP, my life has changed...& for the better! I now choice carefully what I eat & log it dutifully. I eat when I'm hungry. I move my body off the couch EVERYDAY! And I ENJOY it! I now look forward to each & every day! I am proud of what I've accomplished thus far...& know that I'm on a path that will take me to where I want to go! A healthier & fit me! I'm a diamond in the rough! Oh, watch me shine!
