It Goes To Show...

That perseverance & hard work pays off! Now, I know this statement applies to just about everything we do in life...but particularly when it comes to our weight loss efforts! I say this because I honestly have been struggling this week! I attended a party over the weekend, & had planned for it by eating light on the day before & the day after. And I made wise choices...& did try a dessert or two, but only ate half of whatever I ate. And I drank wine & enJOYed the company of my friends!

And now, true confession time! emoticon

I've not been tracking hardly at all! I think I've hit some kind of "wall", if that's even possible. I feel a "fatigue" set in when it comes to monitoring my foods & such. And I'm tired of measuring & weighing everything! I don't know if I'm "rebelling" or what, but...I'm tired of it all! Or maybe it's because it's the holidays & I honestly DON'T WANT TO be doing it this time of year? Heck, I haven't a clue! All I know is that I've been struggling with it...

And I fear it's getting worse! emoticon

I've been pushing myself to track what I eat in the morning & afternoon, but by evening, well...tracking isn't happening! None! Nadda! Nothing!

But what I AM still doing is making wise choices. And I'm still cooking healthy, nutritious meals. And my snacking has been, overall, healthy options! And I'm still exercising every day! And I've lost another 1.2 lbs this week, for a total of 29.2 lbs overall since I started with Weight Watcher's! WooHoo!

Hey, I must be doing SOMETHING right!!! emoticon

So I'm focusing on the fact that I worked really hard this week & even though I've loosened up a bit on the tracking & measuring...I'm still down a pound! No complaints!

My oldest daughter & her family will be here next week...& I can't wait to hug & celebrate Christmas with my grandchildren! I bought a new camera, so I'll be taking lots of pictures! I have to get the software put into the computer yet, so I can download 'em...& I'll finally get a new pic of me on here too!

Merry Christmas to you all, my friends! EnJOY the season, & be merry! We have much to be grateful for & much to be thankful for this time of year! And I am truly grateful for you, my Spark friends! You are loved!!!

    You are doing a LOT of things right! I understand how you are feeling with the struggling and rebellion, though. Been there and was doing that too. I think mine has been taken down now...hope, hope, hope. Be good to you. Examine your feelings. Are you a little overwhelmed with the holidays and visitors coming (it's a lot to handle...again...I know because I'm there doing that too). We will get through this together.     You are doing an awesome job. I think sometimes we have done this so long.... it's just there and you can not track for a short time. Healthy is bred into us now. I know over the summer I did still make good choices part of the time. emoticon

    Some times we need to take a break from tracking and measuring. I don't mean to give up trying to lose but honestly, by now, you must be pretty good at knowing what a proper portion is and how much you should be eating in a day. And just to prove I'm right, the scale has rewarded you with another loss this week. So don't be too hard on yourself. Just enjoy your family and the Holidays and when you are ready, you will come back to tracking and measuring when you need to. May you also have a very, Merry Christmas!

    I think we start internalizing the weighing and measuring after a while -- and make it a habit to monitor portions and know how much we've eaten. It's always good to go back and weigh/measure again, sure! But I DO think that this is all about making these things into habits that we follow. You are doing GREAT, btw! Can't wait to see the next photo!

As for the measuring/tracking, I am there myself but can see that for me I need to get back to it! Grrr.....but perhaps that is what it is all about...getting myself back in line when I need to.

    The measuring and weighing everything can become a bit of a pain after a while, for multiple reasons, that can change depending on how we are feeling at the time.

Over all, I can see EXACTLY what is going on here. You are wise. You have learned! You can eye up portion sizes probably 98% accurately! You know your limits. You know what is good and what is not...even if it "sounds" healthy. You have learned all of this through Spark, through WW, through life, and you are putting it all to good use. I would like to think that eventually we can all do this...if we are smart enough to retain and implement the information!

I am so proud of you! What a great year you've had with your weight loss! You should be giving yourself a big pat on the back Rose!

I'm happy our family will be arriving next week. I hope they enjoy Christmas in Florida with you! I assume it's family from Ohio? It's cold up here, tell them to bring some warmth back with them!

    I have not trouble either tracking breakfast, lunch and even a morning snack, but after da Rose just like you. Our differences, you cook and I don't! LOL. plus you are no longer working and find ways to keep very active where I sit at a desk for 8 hrs. Heck I've been doing wall exercises (25 push ups) each time I go in to use the bathroom as a way of catching extra exercise. Sometimes it's the only exercise I get in those 8 hrs. With answering 10 phone lines we can't get away from our desk much.

Hello Everyone!

Happy Holidays! I hope all is well in your world!

I've been busy, getting ready for my grandchildren, daughter, & SIL's visit to SW Florida! I so want to show them a good time while they're here! Our weather's been gorgeous...we're in the low 80's & it's sunny & beautiful! I've talked w/the kids, & they are extremely excited! Ya know guys, this is my very first Florida Christmas! Gosh, I'm excited too!!!

Um, I DID decorate, just a bit...& I put up a little decorated emoticon ! And it's so cute!

Many of you know that I had an ultrasound done of my left breast last Friday...& then I had a needle biopsy follow up on Thursday. What they saw was a small grape-size cyst & they wanted to get a better look-see. It turned out to be just an ordinary fluid filled cyst, & nothing more. Now I must follow up every 3 months. No big deal! I just want to take this time to remind everyone to get a MAMMOGRAM done & follow up as your physician recommends! The life you save, may be your own! Ok now, I'm done preaching!

I did go to Weight Watcher's after my biopsy & the scale's showed I was UP 0.4 lbs this week. Uh, honestly, I was partaking in a little stress eating on a few days & I kinda expected it. And I was a little angry w/myself...until I took a look at my SP ticker & I saw "28 lbs" lost so far!

And I thought, hey, that's fantastic! And I'm focused & eating mindfully, MOST of the time! And I'm eating healthy & nutritiously, & I'm exercising everyday! And here's the best part! Everyone is NOTICING I've lost weight! I'm even down a size in my work out clothes! And...

A lady came up to me in a ZUMBA class & said to me "It's more than just a number on the scale, now! You're looking fabulous!!!" I was speechless, & almost brought to tears! Me! I was so proud! And I danced my heart out that day, 'cause I was so HAPPY!

And I truly believe it's about MORE than just that number! And so, even though I'm up 0.4...I'm going to focus on the fact that I'm DOWN 28 lbs!!! And that's cause for celebration!!! And I vow to do better this week!

    Rose ... I'm so glad your cyst investigation turned out so well. I know the anxiety - I've been there, done that.

  Congratulations!!! Love your positive attitude. You are right to focus on how well you had done.
Losing weight is just part/bonus of changing for a healthy lifestyle. I'm trying to do the same too. I've been feeling better overall and am a much happier person.

Hello Friends!

I hope all is well in your world! We're in the thick of the holidays, by golly... & I hope you're all hanging in there! Cause I know the stress can take its toll! Been there, done that! I'm feeling the pressure, just a bit, because my young granddaughter called last evening & wanted to know if grandma "decorates" for Christmas & if Santa will be able to "find her" in Florida!

Oh oh! emoticon

I hadn't planned on decorating or even putting up a tree! And I wasn't even planning a traditional dinner...& just thought we'd all go to the beach on Christmas! I guess I wasn't thinking, huh! So, now I'm under the gun & will decorate & get a tree....& hang stockings & plan a traditional menu for Christmas! Yikes! Lots to do now! And, I haven't even begun to shop! So, game on, I say!

Okay, deep breath! (sighing)

All in all folks, this week was a BIG success! I'm down 2.2 lbs for a total of 28.4! WooHoo! And on the week of Thanksgiving! Double Woohoo!!! And not only did I have one Thanksgiving dinner, but two! Uh huh! Long story...I celebrated Thanksgiving dinner over a friend's on Thanksgiving & I made my Thanksgiving dinner for hubby & I on Friday! That was double the pleasure, double the fun! And double all the turkey fixins!!!

Um, no double desserts though! emoticon

All I can say about this week was that I tracked all days except Thanksgiving. I ate well but was mindful of what I put in my mouth. Every time I wanted to eat something, I thought long & hard about if I felt the food was worthy of the calories I would consume...& I tried a little of everything. I even had wine! And I ate lots of veggies!

And I exercised everyday, even did spin class on Thanksgiving! emoticon

All in all, it was a very good week! Today, I've got a mammogram scheduled in the morning, so I'll do a long walk after I get back! Our weather's been beautiful here in SW Florida! And I'm, ever so grateful!

    emoticon ROSE, we never decorate it is much easier to go to N and do Christmas with 2 Grand children but I am certain DH and I will be home for Christmas in Maine. Its been like that since the nest as empty but getting DH better is my Christmas gift to me.

    Great loss for Thanksging. A great example that one day does not have to ruin the whole week. My only Christmas decoration is a ceramic tree. Some days I want more but don't want to take it down Christmas Day as we leave for AZ on the 26th and don't want to return to Christmas decorations in the spring. I Knute your GD will not be disappointed. Just don't work too hard!

    Congrats Rose on being down 2.2 lbs. So very proud of you. I had 3 Thanksgiving meals and chose mostly veggies as my meal. I didn't lose any, but didn't gain any either. My exercise is slow coming back.. Been in pain w/knees (d/t lack of consistent exercise) and still the stomach issues they can't figure out. They are leaning more on it being scar tissue causing the pain under the ribs yet b/c they can't find anything else to blame it on.. lol.. Go figure.

How We All Doing?

Hello Everyone!

I was wondering, how ya all doing out there? It's holiday time, by golly! And I know how there's so much to get done & there's lots going on! I'm not heading up north this year, so no hustle & bustle for me, so much. But I know you're all in the thick of it! Many of you are still working & planning holiday events & meals. It's all added stress! I think sometimes things just get out of hand & more complicated than it has to be, don't you think? My wish for you all is that you're able to take some time just for you, & that you're able to gift yourself a little TLC! And breath, my friends! Breath!

Well, I'm down another 0.2 lbs for a total of 26! When I hopped on that scale & saw that, basically, I maintained this week, well...I was a little disappointed. And then, I got to thinking that maintaining is a GOOD thing, considering I lost 4.6 lbs last week! A body needs time to adjust, right?
And body is adjusting! emoticon

Anyway, I resolved that I will work hard this week, & remain vigilant & mindful of my eating. I am planning a little Thanksgiving feast, just for hubby & I. And I do plan on going to the gym Thanksgiving morning for a spin class! Gotta set my metabolism on HIGH burn for the day!!!
Oh yes, gonna have a slice of pumpkin pie! emoticon

I do have a party to go to this Saturday, but I intend to eat light that day & enJOY! After all, it's about spending time w/friends, not food! And speaking of food, I'll be helping out at the Naples food pantry this Saturday & Monday, putting together packages of holiday fixins for those in need.

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! EnJOY your time spent w/family & friends, & let's be thankful for all that we have, & help those that are less fortunate, if we're able! EnJOY!!!

    Rose you sound so very happy, and that is wonderful!
Yes, maintaining is good, and after such a great loss the week before, your body does need to adjust!

We're not too busy with things. Mine and hubby's families are not close (his 4 hours west, mine 4 hours east) so it's really just him and I and the kids through the holidays. Which I really enjoy! My mom will come out for Christmas, and that will be really nice. Otherwise, no parties or other things to worry about. I'll be in this class up until Christmas Eve, so that will be where I am most busy at! Then I'll be down to about 3.5 weeks left in my pregnancy, and then I will breath and just relax!

Keep on doing such a great job! You're a wonderful SP friend!!

Why do we make more stress for ourselves during the holidays???
It is about being with family & friends...but food always plays a role in it for me. So, I have to plan and do the best I allowing for that piece (1 piece!) of pumpkin pie. Planning is key.     Good morning my sweet friend. We are going to my daughter's on Friday, day after Thanksgiving and out to eat on Saturday all 19 of us and....surprise!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike's son is coming in from Oklahoma this Saturday morning.. whew has it been hard to keep that a secret. Although 6 am sounds a bit early for a visit they are coming here before they get to their final destination 50 miles from my house.

I know what you mean about mindful eating. We had a Thanksgiving potluck yesterday at work and low and behold the statement was made "Eat what you want the holidays won't matter" Well they do matter don't they. So I'm heeding my menu just a wee bit more this season.

Hello My Friends!

Good Morning everyone! I hope you're all well!

I'm sitting here drinking my coffee & contemplating what I should write. Actually, I'm quite excited & thrilled I had such success on the scales yesterday! emoticon And I want to share not only what went right this week, but give you all a glimpse of how I did it! Cause I know we're all, somewhat, on the same journey...& we're all thriving to be successful! So, I'm gonna do my very best to share my insight on the week!

First, let me just say that I was down 4.6 lbs for a grand total of 25.8 lbs! emoticon

Now, you all know I'm doing the Weight Watcher thing. I do the weekly meetings, & honestly, it helps me to go & "get centered" once a week. I listen to what others are doing & struggling with & listen to what works for them. Well, last week the leader discussed the Simply Filling Technique & how she uses it to maintain her weight loss. Mind you, she's been on maintenance for 11 years, so she's doing something right! (I was always told, if you're gonna emulate another person, pick someone who's successful!) So I looked up the plan in my WW workbook & decided that's what I was gonna do this week...follow the Simply Filling Technique (SFT). Basically, all it is, is putting a focus on "power foods". Power foods are simply what are also called "Super Foods". A focus on fresh fruits & veggies, whole grains, lean meats, fat free dairy, & healthy oils. I cut out all the "extras" this week & simplified my meals, eating only turkey, chicken, & fish, simply made. Trust me guys, I ate well! And the premise of the plan is that you eat when you're hungry. And you don't have to track (but I did anyways)... I was scared not to! You are permitted 48 points for extras, like I had a handful of pistachios one evening.

Of course, I didn't run into many stressors this week, except for well, Tuesday! Ya know, the election & all! And no parties this week! But, I know we're going into the holiday season & I do have a fancy dinner I'll be attending next Saturday! But I can see how I can use this SFT plan around those events to keep on track! Even if it's just to maintain!
Cause maintaining is better than gaining! emoticon

Well, have a fabulous week, everyone! I'm doing PILATES & DRUMS ALIVE this morning! It's been a bit chilly here in SW Florida (it's in the 50's this morning & 70's in the afternoon...oh, I know, I'm a freeze baby!!!), so it's really making me move in the morning! It's supposed to start warming up today, anyway!!!

    Ya know Rose bud... you are doing absolutely emoticon and of course eating healthy emoticon emoticon emoticon is the best way to lose that weight.. and may I say almost 5 lbs.. emoticon is a job emoticon
