Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all well! Happy Fall to ya!!!

This week was a great success! I'm down another 1.6 lbs! emoticon

I tracked my foods religiously, exercised a lot (I had 132 activity points on WW's!), drank the water, & stayed in caloric range! Oh, & I ate well, my friends!!! Let's see, this week I made...

Chicken Fajitas (
Broccoli & Cheddar Quiche (
Shrimp w/garlic Sauce (
Chicken Sausage w/peppers & onions (my own!)
Oven Fried Fish (Better Homes & Gardens cookbook)

I also made & tried these!

A healthy "Grab N Go Snack Mix" (
& a heavenly "Angelic Lemon Cheesecake (

On the snack mix, I gotta wonder if it's really worth making, cause I can only eat 1/4 cup at a time & not everyday!...& I'm sooo tempted to eat much much more! Now I got most of it sitting in snap-closed containers, calling my name! Um, not a good thing! Maybe I can freeze it?!!

Oh, & the Cheesecake is DIVINE! If you like lemony things...then this is an awesome recipe for you! It only has 4 ingredients & it's to die for!!! Main ingredient is plain greek yogurt! And it looks so pretty when it's set! And you won't believe how incredibly wonderful it is! And it's a serving for 1!

I'm off to do PILATES, 1/2 hour of ZUMBA, & SPINNING CLASS this morning! I hope you all have a FABULOUS day & a WONDERFUL week!!! It's half over, ya know!!! I'm getting ready to go up north in a couple of weeks to see my grandsons play ball & watch my granddaughter cheer! The twins are on the school football team & little Ashlie cheers for the hometown juniors! Ash also has a gymnastics meet the first weekend of October. So, but of course, the proud grandparents have to be there to cheer them on!!!

Hiya Everyone!

I hope you're all doing SUPER & enJOYing a transition into fall in your hometown! I'm still waiting for the humidity to break, here in Florida...soon, I hope!

I'm down 2.8 lbs! For a total of 15.6!!! Ta-ta-ta-da! emoticon

I've been working really hard guys! And eaten very well, I must say! Let's see, I've done....

What I've learned so far, with my comparison of WW's & SP:

Tracking is VITALLY important! No matter which was you choose to go...tracking matters!!! Being mindful matters! Moving your body matters! Drinking the water matters! And for me, watching my intake of carbs matters!!! No doubt about it!!!

Lesson learned! emoticon

Now have a WONDERFUL mindful week, my friends! And just know...YOU matter to me!!! You are ALL loved!!!

    TRACKING is the only way to go for sure so long as you know the amounts to track and everyone has a different need depending on their weight and nutrition. It also depends on exercise and health related challenges. YES I am with you it sure does matter HUGS Pat in Maine emoticon emoticon emoticon .

emoticon Rose on the weight loss this week! I can totally tell you've been back on track and doing an awesome job!! It sure does pay off, huh? Way to go!
I love use that site a lot...but usually for baking, cuz I'm not that great at cooking, lol! That's hubby's job!

Hope the humidity breaks for you soon. It's been beautiful here in Pittsburgh. Today's high is 84, but the humidity isn't around right now, so it's bearable.

Hello Friends!

Oh yes! I'm down another 2 pounds! WooHoo!!! I'm doing the happy dance! emoticon

And I just saw the doctor yesterday, for my 3000 mile checkup! And labs are all good! HgA1C was 5.7. That's on the high end of being normal & I'm teetering on the edge a bit there w/those blood sugars. I knew that by being "off my game" those many weeks was gonna show up in those lab numbers somewhere! And I was right! I mean, it's still okay, but....I can do better! Got my flu shot too, while I was there. Gotta stay healthy!!!

This week just sailed by, didn't it! I tried a bunch of new recipes, guys...& they were all good! Thai Shrimp & Snow Peas, Quick Stromboli, Chipotle-Topped Crab Cakes, Baked Dijon Salmon, & Honey Garlic Pork Chops! All I can say, is.........

YUM! YUM! emoticon

What can I say! I LOVE to cook! I LOVE to eat! emoticon

I hope you're all well, friends! Keep doing whatcha been doing & keep moving forward! Even if ya get a bit off track...just get back on! One day at a time!

Glad to hear that your numbers were good and that you know you can improve them with your healthy choices and lifestyle.
What interesting recipes your tried. They all sound delicious!
Which were your favorites? Can you share any of them with us? Were they Weight Watcher's recipes?
Also, a quick medical question - how does one get the LDL number in the cholesterol number to decrease? More exercise? Less red meat? My HDL is 69 & my LDL is 104, Triglycerides are 56 for a total cholesterol of 184. I too, know I should be doing better on that.
I need to get back in this to win it too! Thanks for your great report and the motivation you always provide me by your excellent example! Have a Wonderful Wednesday!!!

Off My Game!

Hello Everyone!

I hope you're all doing well!

Well, I just got done with a colonoscopy! I have to say the bowel prep is getting harder & harder to take as I age! None too pleasant! I got through it though, thank goodness! They found 1 small polyp & that's it! Now I'm good for 4 years! Phew! So glad!!! The hardest part for me wasn't the prep tho, was being withOUT coffee in the morning! I was soooooo GRUMPY!!!

That was the WORST! emoticon

But hubby went on a coffee run for me while I was having the procedure...& as soon as I was able...I got my coffee!!!

emoticon HAPPY! HAPPY!

I was only down 0.2 lbs this week at WW's. A little disappointing, I must say, but I've lost 11 lbs since I that's none too bad!

I'll take it! emoticon

And now, I'm getting ready to go to the Y! Many of the instructors are out injured. Can you even believe it!!! One sustained a shoulder injury while on vacation & another hurt her back at work! So, sometimes there's a substitute & they focus on something else entirely...or class is just cancelled! It makes it so hard to keep a routine when the classes I count on, aren't happening! No matter! I'm still going & working out on the equipment & doing some free weights. Not the same tho...if ya know what I mean! Gotta keep pushing tho!!! I CAN do it!!!

I'm gonna start up w/the kettlebells again, I think! I liked doing 'em...& they only reason why I stopped was because I outgrew my 8 pounder & didn't size up to the 15! I'm gonna get the 15 & begin there this time!

Something to work toward! emoticon

I hope everyone is going GREAT, by golly! I'm gonna tighten up my eating this week, cause I want to stay on course! I tell ya, when my eating routine is disturbed, I have a heck of a time getting back on track! Such as this colonoscopy thing! Dang it, anyway!

I gotta emoticon!!! And keep moving forward! You all do the same!!!

    I had my colonoscopy a couple of weeks ago....UGH to the prep. like you, I had 1 polyp & they said to come back in 5 years. Then on a Friday afternoon the nurse called & said to call the doctor on Mon. morning......I worried all weekend long something was wrong, called 1st thing Mon. & she said he wants me to come back in 3 years instead of 5 but polyp was not cancer. Maybe he wants me to come back in 3 instead of 5 because I have already had BC.

The 4 year anniversary of my BC surgery is 09/05. I am a survivor! Glad you got through Isaac. emoticon for getting back on tract.

Getting PT set up for my bursitis/pain in back & both hips and, hopefully, I will be able to get back on tract with my exercise & lose the weight that I have gained.

    I'm glad your procedure went well ... and I can sure sympathize re the coffee. I only have one (large) cup a day - first thing in the morning ... but I do love it.

    Glad the appointment and procedure went well and it's over with. I could totally relate to you on the coffee. I've cut myself back to one cup since becoming pregnant, but I still have to have that one cup or watch out!!

Hello Everyone!

Well, I'm 10.8 lbs down! WooHoo! Thanks to Weight Watchers & SparkPeople! Oh, & of course, thanks to my perseverance & determination to get back on track! And my fabulous friends who encourage & support me!!!

I'm gonna let ya in on some of the workings of Weight Watchers, for those of you who aren't familiar, so you can compare the program w/SP! If you're not familiar, WW's uses a points system, & I'm permitted 26 points a day for my weight class. Veggies & Fruits, for the most part, have no point value. Not juice, but the real fruit. Now, I've been tracking on both for the past 3 weeks...& what I've found is that 26 points kinda, sorta equals out to around 1200 calories. Not always I do believe points are weighted on their fat, carb, & protein values. So, it doesn't always equal out, ya see. There's no magic guys! It's calories in...calories out. Period! The premise is that you'll turn to fruits & veggies when you run out of points! Got it?!! Laughing.....

Of course, the focus is that you EARN extra points when you exercise! So, of course...if you want to eat more, you need to MOVE your body! Uh, okay, got it! Smiling.....

And but of course! They emphasize all the basic strategies we all know & love! Measure & weight EVERYTHING you put in your mouth! Use smaller plates! Make better choices! It's not rocket science! It's what works!

Oh, did I forget to mention you get an ADDITIONAL 49 points to use, whenever, during a 7 day period? Oh yes! They're for use when you got something special coming up, like a birthday or event! Um, I've not used many of 'em thus far...but it's nice to know I have them! I've gone over my 26 allotted points on several occasions, so they do come in handy!

The big thing for me is that WW's gave me the push I needed to get back on that scale...& back on track! And I'm very grateful! I feel normal again! And that's a very good thing!!! I intend to focus on one day at a time & keep moving forward! Every day is a NEW DAY! A chance to do something wonderful! Speaking of something wonderful, I've started volunteering at a place called St. Matthew's House! It's a crisis shelter & food pantry located here in Naples. I'm volunteering on Tuesday mornings, helping bag groceries & supplies for those in need. There are so many people who are struggling & it's very humbling for me to be there. I must say, I'm very grateful for all that I have. And it feels so good to be able to do something for others & get out of myself! It does a body good!!!

Alright guys! I hope you're all well & moving forward! I get my bloodwork done next week, & I'm hoping my having been off track hasn't thrown off my lab values! We'll see, by golly! You all take special care now...& keep moving!

    Rose, I'm so glad to hear that WW is helping you. Thanks for the insight to the points system. I new there were points, but I never really knew how they worked. I know WW has worked for many, and it could become a back up plan for me after having the baby if I'm struggling (though I really don't think I will).
You're doing fabulous, and thanks for giving us all an update! Keep on trucking girl!

    I did WW years ago and gained weight. Spark was the only program where i lost. being diabetic eating too many apples and bananas my FBS is up recently. I am doing a lot of walking but now i have to do more ST to get a better calorie burn. It can be very tricky. I eat by my tracker but still on a plateau.
WW also used a lot of artificial sweetener way back then. I do not use sugar but I discovered my allergist told me not to use it since I have too many chemical sensitivities. Thanks for explaining the new program. I had been a member (Lifetime) previously, but haven't had a meeting available in my area for sometime. Good solid science and common sense!
What a wonderful thing you are doing helping at St. Matthew's House. Sounds like a much needed program.
Also, good to hear that your husband's colonoscopy went well.
