Yep! That's right! I'm telling ya, my friends! This is me looking out over the expansive highway! And I'm strategizing what I should do next! Ya see, my weight's plateaued & I'm feeling frustrated! And I hate it when I feel this way! So, I've gotta take action!
First of all, let me explain! I made up a list of what's working for me...& what's not!
What's working is...
-daily exercise (90-120 min of something every day)
-strength training w/kettlebells 3 times weekly
-8 to 10 cups of water daily
-nutritious meals prepared by me at home
-healthy choices MOST of the time
-5 or more servings of fruits & veggies daily
What's not working is...
I do fine for most of the day! See!
Breakfast consists of yogurt, blueberries, flaxseed, & walnuts.
Lunch is a large salad w/everything in it but the kitchen sink! lol
Dinner varies but I cook low fat & wholesome. Everything from scratch.
Snacks are usually greek yogurt, fruit bars, fruit, peanuts, & occas. pretzels or popcorn.
My problem area? SNACKING at night!
My solution? A game plan! And here it is!
I plan to lose 2 lbs in 1 month, beginning 9/14/11 & ending 10/14/11.
-Weight & measure all that I eat!
-Exercise 90-120 min daily! In some form or fashion!
-Stay in the 1500-1800 calorie range daily
-Strength training 3x week
-LIMIT night snacking by......
being mindful - keeping a journal & document what I eat after dinner
& log it publically! No exceptions!
-I plan to do NON-EATING tasks in the evenings at my discretion to keep my hands busy! I've just started a jigsaw puzzle last night!
-Weigh in & report progress every Wednesday!
I know I CAN do it!
Now, I know many of you've been wondering why all the doctor appointments & medical tests & such these last couple of weeks. Well, I'm having some medical issues with a prolapsed bladder. I've had two previous surgeries...& it's highly likely I'll be having a third. I'll know more tomorrow, as I'm seeing a surgeon in the morning. It's been difficult for me to exercise as much as I've been with this problem & I need to do something. It appears that surgery is my only option at this time, so...I'll keep you posted! We shall see what we shall see! One day at a time my friends! One day at a time!
Now, I hope you're all well! I've begun working off those 2 pounds, by golly! Yesterday went well.....& I'm on day 2! And I've got Chef Meg's Slow Cooker Lasagna in the crock pot for dinner! Yummy! I'll let ya know how it turns out!

I was so afraid to face the number on that scale this morning, my friends....& for good reason!
Yikes! I'm up 5.6 lbs!
Well, whatcha expect, I tell myself! I've NOT been tracking & my exercise was cut in half. I WAS mindful MOST days...& I did maintain eating 5 fruits & veggies daily! Oh, but that eating out will getcha every time, by golly! I found it so difficult to maintain portion control & choose wisely at restaurants, at times! And oh my! So many choices!
Well, I'm not fretting! I've re-activated Operation "Get Back On Track"! And I'm well on my way to getting back to normal! I've planned my meals for the week & went shopping! I've eaten a health & nutritious breakfast & lunch, & have planned a wholesome salmon dinner for tonight! I did run for 30 min & walk for 60 this morning! Day 1 is going splendidly, I must say! And what goes up....MUST come down! I guarantee it!
And Woohoo! It feels so GOOD to be back in my routine!
I'm setting my weight ticker back to 0 & will weigh in every Wednesday to measure my progress! I'm so excited to be getting back on track! And I know I CAN do it!

Hello My Friends!
I'm doing well & I'm missing you all! Just wanna let you know what's been happening & what's going on!
First of all, I want to & give lots of to all that have sent flower goodies & have kept our family in your thoughts & prayers! I feel the love! It's times like this that make one take pause & think about what's really important! Family & Friends!
This is my father-in-law & mother-in-law, Edmund & Virginia at a past Christmas Party. My father-in-law was 84 years old when he passed after a long illness. He will be missed!
And for all of you that don't know.....my in-laws live in a suburb of Cleveland, OH.
Hubby is doing well, thanks for asking! And my mother-in-law has LOTS of family, friends, & neighbors looking after her...& is doing quite well! We're staying w/her at the moment....& making sure she's eating. She & my father-in-law had been married for 62 years & she has quite an adjustment to make w/his passing! I do believe she's gonna be okay though! She's in good health & has her wits about her...& she's a trooper! God bless her!
We've been to a pre-season Brown's game & went to see the Lake Erie Crusher's play! and we're going to take in an Indian's game tomorrow! We've been hanging w/family every moment we get & gettin' in lots & lots of HUGS w/my grandchildren!!! Hey, it's ALL good!
We had intended to leave Ohio today & head back to SW Florida but hurricane Irene is heading straight for Florida, so we've decided to delay our return & stay put for the time being! Better safe than sorry! As the week progresses, we'll decide when to head back! We're not in any hurry though!
I've been keeping up my exercise...running & walking every morning. But I'm only doing 1 hour vs 2, & I've not been tracking my foods (by choice). I can't wait to return to Florida so I can get back to my routine! I miss my exercise classes & strength training, & cooking my own meals. Eating out is NOT the best of circumstances, as you can imagine!

I got "Sparked" 1 year ago today! Oh yeah babe! I did! I did!
Oh, how time FLIES when we're havin' FUN, my friends!
I've been UP - & I've been DOWN...& I've been ALL around!
Let me just say that I've LOST & I've GAINED so much!
So what's different now? EVERYTHING!
And what's changed? Well, what HASN'T is a better question!
In 1 year, I've...
* Moved from living in NE Ohio to REALLY living in SW Florida!
* Retired from Nursing (well, for the moment anyway!).
* Sold my home & all its' contents!
* Ran in my first 5K! Woohoo!
* Gone kayaking for the first time in my life! It was amazing!
* Lost over 60 lbs! & without pills or potions or fake food!
* Have tons of Spark friends all over the country & beyond!
* STOPPED dieting! Woohoo!
* Learned that I'm responsible for making me happy!
* Stopping drinking soda pop! (& I don't even miss it!)
* Been eating 5 or more fruits/veggies daily!
* Been strength training w/Kettlebells! Me! Who knew!
* Learned to set limits!
* Gone from wearing a size 3X to a Large!
* Lost 5 underwear sizes! Really!
* Gone from a couch potato to exercising 2 hours daily!
* Gotten my diabetes under control w/diet & exercise! NO MORE diabetes medication needed! Woohoo!
* Got LOTS & LOTS more energy!
* Been enJOYing life!
* Been Sparked...& re-Sparked!
* Been able to remain focused on proper nutrition & fitness!
* Begun taking exercise classes! I'm LOVIN' the Y!
This was me at 230 lbs & just diagnosed w/diabetes in Feb. 2010! I joined SparkPeople in August, 2010. By then I'd lost 11 lbs on my own...
