How I Spend Most Days Anymore...

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Hello My Fellow Sparkers!

I'm coming to you from Sunny SW new home! I still can't believe I'm living here now! I often feel as if I've died & gone to heaven! Since tomorrow is my 6 month SparkVersary, I'm planning on posting an anniversary blog...In the meantime I thought I'd post some random pics to let you know what I'm doing these days! Enjoy the pics!

Me collecting seashells on Sanibel Island! It was a sunny but cool & breezy day! Hubby & I walked the beaches for 2 hours! It doesn't get any better than this my friends!

This is Marco Island beach! My most favorite place to be!

Witnessing the sunrise from my lanai! It's all so serene...

Approaching one of Sanibel Island's beaches...

I love everything about the beach! The calming sounds of the water as it ebbs & flows & the seagulls calling overhead...the salty smell of the air...a gentle breeze blowing & the warmth of the sun caressing my skin.

Life is good in my world today! And I'm sharing it all w/you my friends!

Hugs & Love to you all! emoticon

Spark Buddies!

Wednesday, February 02, 2011

Hello My Fellow Sparkers!

Happy Wednesday! Hump Day! Weigh In Day! Groundhog Day!

For all that are enduring the bitter cold, blistering winds, & mountains of snow...I feel your pain! I've spent my entire life in Cleveland, OH...& I KNOW what you're going through! So from the bottom of my heart...

I send a plethora of warm thoughts your way! emoticon

Weigh in today was 176.0! emoticon Down 1.6 lbs! I do believe my C25K training is kicking butt with my weight. It's weird because my appetite's greatly increased since I've been training & I'm eating more calories as a result! Go figure!

And yesterday, I met my Spark Buddy Gena (JENAANN3) for the first time!

She & I began our Spark journey back in August 2010 & instantly bonded as support & encouraging one another along the way! It was so AWESOME to finally meet! Our hubbies are retired police officers & have a lot in fun was had by all! We had a WONDERFUL visit & plan to get together again next week!

Spark Friends FOREVER! (SFF) Smiling....

Life is GOOD in my world today! Keep Sparkin' my friends!

Hello My Friends! emoticon

I completed W2D3 of the C5K training today! And as I was jogging & walking - I began thinking about all the things I'm grateful for in my life! There's so much! We have no sunshine here in N. Ft. Myers today...

...but I have emoticon in my emoticon !

And I can IMAGINE how I'll feel when I'm emoticon in a marathon! My most favorite quote of all is the one I post on my page:

"If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it." - W.A. Ward

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh....Imagine! Imagine yourself where ever it is you want to be!

... Thinner!

... Healthier!

... In the job of your dreams!

... Retired!

... Returning back to school!

...Running a marathon!

... Climbing that mountain!

Whatever it is! Imagine! Dare to dream! It's all up to take you there!

Imagine it!

You CAN do anything you set your mind to do! Get out & live your passion! Get up & follow that dream!! You CAN do it! You OWE it to yourself to Imagine!

Get out & find your joy my friends!

Rose emoticon

    Love the quote you sited!

"If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it." - W.A. Ward

I have to remind myself each day, no matter what, to be positive and now I will add - "Imagine it."
I do believe that the first step to achieving anything is to imagine it.
Thanks for the uplifting motivation that you share so very well!

    Rose, What a great idea!

I'm 1/4 Swedish, 1/4 German and 1/2 Heinz 57. (lol)

I'm the oldest of 7 children, I have 3 brothers & 3 sisters.

My husband & I will celebrate our 30th anniversary this August.
We were separated 14 years ago but after some counseling we reconciled and have a much happier marriage as a result.

I stressed off 80 pounds during our separation.

I only have one child, a beautiful daughter who teaches.

I'm an LPN-C.

I've worked for 31 years at the same hospital and I love my job.

My first job was de-tasseling corn. Ugh!

I was born and raised in Nebraska and although we moved around a lot when I was little, I've never lived more than 2 hours from where I was born.

I love to knit. I tried to crochet but could never seem to get the hang of it.

I've been a Sunday school teacher for 23 years.

Thanks for sharing yourself, I hope I haven't bored you with me.

-English in NOT my first language.
-I wanted to be a pilot.
-I'm the oldest of 2, but most people including family think I'm the youngest.
-My family still thinks I'm closer to 20 years old than 40 years old.

-I play the drums and piano, yet cannot read sheet music.
-I'm half Irish.
-I was in a bowling league years ago and almost bowled a perfect score.

HI Fellow Accordion Player! I never knew anyone else, besides my brother, who played the accordion. Sounds like you were good at it. I think I was 10 years old and I probably took lessons for one or two years-but I wasn't good at it. I do enjoy instruments and have played the guitar, though not very well either. Two of my children play violin and they all played piano at one time or another. Congratulations on your long-lasting marriage. I also feel blessed to be married to my dear husband of almost 20 years and I love my wonderful 3 children. I plan on joining you in the retirement status soon, though I will look for another job. My first job ever was babysitting and I got 50 cents an hour.

It's fun to read about other people. Thanks for sharing information about yourself. I will enjoy reading info about other SparkFriends to see what common interests we may have! God bless!

I knew you were cool, you definitely have a full life! I married my Husband right after he got back from nam, and we bought our first house on eastern LI on the GI bill and used our wedding money to pay the closing costs, I've got 2 grown children both in the medical field and while they did things backwards they both finished college while raising families, my hubby and I were married 38 years, he died on our 38th anniversary, but he got to see his kid graduate college and have good lives, he got to be a big part of his grand childrens lives and he's still missed. He got to walk his daughter down the isle when she married the person she should have found the first time. I spent my early years in management, and when I came to Fl I managed a quickie mart.. emoticon My hubby was in law in forcement for 20 years, I consider my self blessed. Thanks for sharing your story!

Hey Rose, thanks for sharing. I was an Air Force wife and actually retired from the Air Force. We also were stationed in Germany for 4 years, we were at Ramstein and lived at Vogelweh. My three kids all started school there. Also I didn't have my drivers liscense until I was 32 years old. We were lucky enough to be stationed in Hawaii for 4 years too. I'd live there if I could afford it. Congratulations on your later in life accomplishments.

    Wow...what a fascinating life!!!

Certified in psych and mental health nursing???? Hmmmmm...I'm wondering if this is why you correspond with me....I'm a REAL STUDY for psych??? (Big, big smile)!!!

Just a couple tidbits:
My favorite color is blue, and I am an Aries. (Or am I...? Didn't I read lately that we've got that all wrong???).

I love to read (particularly mysteries or true crime stories).

I was a legal secretary for 18 years; then a judicial secretary for 17 years (with 1 year in finance in my earlier years--it was ugh!).

Other than that...just waiting for excitement! WHOO HOO!

What a great blog. Congrats on going back to school and getting your RN degree.

A little about me -

I have a sister 2 years younger than I.
I went to an all girls highschool with a graduating class of 11.
I was a foster parent. I adopted my two daughters when they were 5 and 6. They were placed with me when they were 2 1/2 and 4 together as they are biological siblings. They are now 24 and almost 23. The youngest still lives at home.
I love animals. I have 1 cat and a new chorkie puppy we got in August.
I have a very large cookbook collection. Over 500. Yes thats right. Mostly bought at yard sales and the goodwill store. I try a new recipe usually each Sunday. My favorite day.
I love to travel but hate to fly. It gives me anxiety.
I lived in Arizona for several years in the mid 90's. I missed the ocean.
I dream of living some where other than MA but still on the east coast. Maybe NC,SC or Fl. As I hate to drive in the snow. Hopefully within the next 5 yrs.
I was always the tall skinny one in the family. But not anymore. But I will get fit again with the help of everyone here.

    Thanks for sharing about yourself.

Fun facts about me....
- I too was a candy stiper in high school but unlike your accordian I played the violin and was never very good at it. Just stubborn. LOL
- I am a nationally qualified Field Guide (Safari Guide) in South Africa -- one of the few Americans to claim that distinction -- though I earn my living as an accountant in NYC.
- Like you my favorite color is red, but I am about 20th generation American with my family (on one side anyway) arriving in the, then, colonies circa 1560.
- You had to learn German, I imagine, and I studied Chinese. For no reason other to be able to order off the wall in China town (that's where the real specials are!). Shame I've forgotten most of it.

Just a few bits of my eclectic life. Hope you liked them.
