Quilt, Progress, & Granddaughter!

Saturday, February 22, 2014

Hello Everyone!

We're well into the new year & I hope everyone is doing well! I'm finally able to get back to the gym after having surgery back in December. I'm going daily & it feels so good to have my routine back! I'm modifying when I need to (it's amazing how much strength you lose over a short period of time)! My plan is to do ST 3x a week & some form of cardio everyday (some days it's a walk). Spin class is my most favorite!

I'm done w/my daughter's quilt, so here's the finished product!

And my granddaughter just went to her very first Father & Daughter dance yesterday! Awwww, she's getting so big!

I'm doing well, my friends. Thanks for checking in on me when I was in recovery. You are all loved in this world! I'm sending positive thoughts to all my friends up north & hope that Spring will be upon you all soon! I know it's been a most difficult winter thus far & I pray that the snow is coming to an end! Think warm thoughts!

Rose, you so know how beautiful I think the quilt is. You granddaughter is also very beautiful. I love her dress. She looks like she is going to be tiny. It maybe that her Dad is just tall! Both very lovely and something you should be most proud of! You are a talented lady. emoticon

Love your updates my friend. The quilt is magnificent and what a cutie-patutie you have for a granddaughter.

The weather has been relentless. Right not our area alone is 1 inch away from what we had during the blizzard of 1978. Wow.. I hate snow emoticon

Glad you are back into a routine I know that has to make you feel better.

Blessings on your Saturday ~ Donna

Happy New Year!

Wednesday, January 01, 2014

Hello Everyone!

Happy New Year!

I just enJOYed a wonderful Christmas w/my family! I'm sorry if I worried anyone because I haven't been logging on. Reason being was that the computer was in the den & my grandson was sleeping on the sofa bed in there, so I didn't have access to the 'puter early in the morning. Once they were up, I was making breakfast & spending time w/them before we headed out for the day. I've missed you all though! I'm doing well, still in healing mode! No exercise, not yet. I can't wait until I can, trust me!

I hope everyone is well! I've missed you! I hope ya all don't mind but I'm gonna share some photos of my time w/the kids. Happy New Year!!!

Hugs & Love!
Rose

    Hi Rose,
It's the long lost Gwen. I've been MIA on Spark People for many reasons and my weight sure shows the MIA inactivity.
I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up with you to know what you're recovering from, but I hope it will soon be a thing of the past.
I loved the pictures of your family.
I am going to try to do better this year. I did drop out of 2 major committees I was on, so hopefully that will give me a little more time to be organized in everything, including what I'm eating. I'm going to take it slow.
Hugs to you - Gwen

Looks like you had a blast with your family and I am so jealous of that warm sunshine. As I have shoveled 3 times today and am so cold. But at least I too have relaxed during my break from work and students. I have been reading and enjoying my new Kindle Fire HD that my husband bought. He also bought my sparker tracker which I started using today! Glad to hear from you.

Projects & Stuff!

Saturday, December 21, 2013

Hello Everyone!

I hope this holiday season finds you all in good spirits! My wish is that you can relax & enJOY every moment spent with family & friends!

As many of you know, I've been recuperating from surgery & I'm laid up for 6-8 weeks. This means NO exercise except for walking...doctor's orders! It's been difficult, since I'm an exercise everyday kinda person...& I just don't sit idle very well! So, here's what I've been doing to while away the hours!

I made a bunch of the scrappy ornaments & they came out so cute!

One last pic of my youngest daughter's recent visit:

My oldest daughter & her family are heading down to Naples as I speak! I can't wait to hug & hold each & everyone of them! They'll be here for 2 weeks & by golly, I know the time'll pass quickly so I'm gonna enJOY every single moment! My wish for you all is that you, too, enJOY every precious moment with family & loved ones!

Merry Christmas to you all & a Happy New Year!!!

    Rose,
I am not sure how I missed that you wrote a blog. I am so glad you are recovering and being useful by creating crafts and such darling gifts. I know you had a great visit with your daughter and her family. It's amazing how time flies when you are visiting family. I know it is hard not to exercise except to walk but at least there is that. I will keep you in my prayers!

Quilt Projects!

Thursday, October 24, 2013

Hello Everyone!

My machine isn't functioning properly so I have to take it into the shop on Friday. I had wanted to post the pics of the completed quilts, but I so wanted to share them w/you! So, here they are! They still need binding but you can at least see what they look like! I've started a third one but it's in the cutting stage, so not much to see yet.

Thanks for the support, my friends! You are loved!!!

Rose, I LOVE them! They are the types of quilt designs that most "speak" to me. I have some fabric that would do a great job in the pink design you have right now! LOL!

Thank you so very much. I had been looking forward to seeing them. What type of machine do you have? One of my long promised rewards to myself is a new sewing machine; of course, my original reward at the beginning of this Spark journey was a pedi and I just now got that done - over three years later! LOL!

I Had NO Doubt!

Sunday, June 30, 2013

Hello Fellow Sparkers!

I had NO doubt I would be successful when I chose to begin The Summer Challenge! I'm down exactly 4 lbs, my friends!!! And that's in just one week!!!

emoticon Now, THAT'S what I'm talking about!!!

As many of you know, I had been on Weight Watchers for quite a few months & had done very well, losing over 30+ lbs. It's a good program, but costly...& since I wasn't really losing any weight of significance there as of late, I thought I'd try another approach. Another issue w/the weight watchers for me was that I didn't care for the etools & preferred the SP tracker, probably cause I was more accustomed to using it & I just like the protein, carb, fat (& calcium & fiber for me) monitoring versus "points" on WW's. Being a diabetic, it's important to know these things. And honestly, WW's does push their products a bit much...& I'm thinking that some of these products aren't all that good for you, well, let's just leave it at that. My opinion...

Anyway, I recently purchased The Spark Solution & they offered The Summer Challenge for 2 weeks w/3 free months of SparkCoach! Well, I saw this as my opportunity to get back on the weight loss track! And it worked, by golly! I do love the SparkCoach aspect of the program because it kinda sets the tone for me every morning, & it helps me focus. Not that I'm following the food plan exactly, cause I'm not. I started out doing it but I got side tracked w/my dinner party mid-week & I had so many leftovers (& spent quite a bit of my food budget) that I was eating chicken & salmon all week! It was delish tho! FYI: I make the salmon recipe from SP...& it was awesome! Title of the recipe is: World's Best (And Easiest) Salmon.

And I've learned something about myself this week & it's that I like to eat simple! Especially breakfast & lunch. I love salads w/lots of fixin's! It's dinner that I like to experiment with...& Iike to try new recipes for. There are so many good recipes in the book, that I'm gonna be trying 'em for quite a while! Just not all at the same time! It's just too crazy for me!

I'm loving my new gym! I'm at the Naples Y now & there are so many more classes offered! The best part for me is that Spinning is now FREE! Oh baby!!! I've been Spinning 3-4 times a week! LOVIN' the Spin!!! Also, I've been doing a circuit class & kettlebells...both are kickin' my butt! And I've begun Body Sculpting class which is basically working w/weights, bands, balls, & tubes! All strength training!

It does a body good! emoticon

Alright, I'm gonna be working on Week 2 here, so let the games continue! I hope you're all doing well, my friends! I've been checking in on ya & I see we're all moving forward! It's one day at a time! Just keep moving forward & keep reaching for those stars!!! The sky's the limit, ya know!!!

EnJOY a great week!!! emoticon Rose
