Old too big clothes

Sunday, November 17, 2013

I'm keeping one set of my nicest too big clothes from my biggest size. The rest I'm donating as I replace them.

I love that some of the clothes I couldn't wear a couple months ago are starting to fit.

It's great when you can shop your closet and wear things you already have. Getting rid of your too big clothes is liberating, you know you are never going back there.

Distract the Binge Monster List

Friday, November 15, 2013

Today's blog assignment: distract the Binge Monster, make a list of things to do that will keep me from giving in.

1. Crafts. I love to cross stitch but I really haven't been doing it at all lately. I have a ton of projects I'd like to do that I haven't even started.

2. Heavy Duty housecleaning. Holidays are coming, I feel like I need to make the apartment sparkle. Plus, I have no desire to eat with the smell of heavy cleaners in the air.

3. Spark. Hop on Sparkpeople and cry for help. I'm sure if I were to pop on a message board I'd have plenty of people helping with the "don't give in!"

4. Read on my Nook. Get lost in a few good books.

5. Online window shopping. I mentioned this one in the past. I like to look at the clothes that I don't feel I can wear yet but I will when I reach my goals. It gives me another reason not to raid the chocolate chips and peanut butter. (I'm a freak, I know)

6. Shutterfly. Load it up with pics of my daughter. She's my constant reminder of why I need to do this. I have a responsibility to teach her how to live a healthy life.

7. Take a walk. A little exercise should calm the cravings.

8. Drink water. I realize that sometimes the cravings are because I'm really thirsty.

9. Brush teeth. Most foods taste pretty nasty with the taste of toothpaste in my mouth.

10. Stop and list the reasons why I shouldn't give in. Remind myself of all the reasons I'm here.

Love the online window shopping! I go on Amazon and add stuff to my wish list instead of my shopping cart. It's like getting the momentary satisfaction of shopping without actually spending the money. And now people know what gifts to get, even colors and sizes!

Brushing right after a meal really helps.

5 reasons to get my workout in

Thursday, November 14, 2013

So my "blog assignment" today was 5 reasons to workout.

1. To lose weight. My biggest reason to be here really.

2. I feel good when I do. After I've exercised, I feel really good the rest of the day.

3. To get healthy. Weight issues considered, skinny people have health problems too that can be helped with exercise.

4. Me time. I have a 3 year old daughter and a 37 year old husband, I need me time. I read, check my emails and spark while I'm on the machines.

5. I work a desk job. I spend 8.5 hours a day at work and 99 % of that time is at a computer. I'm not on my feet all day like when I was in retail. Sitting all day makes me sore and uncomfortable so the workouts loosen me up and really helps me out on the days that I just can't seem to get away from my desk.

Those are all great reasons to workout. 4 out of 5 apply to me (don't have 3 year-old and hubby a little older~lol!) and I need to remember them to motivate me to do a workout even when I don't want to. Thanks for sharing.

Good for you. I too work at a desk all day. I try to remember to get up and move around and then next thing you know it's lunchtime and I've sat all morning.

One day at a time

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

When they say one day, one meal, one workout at a time they weren't kidding. When I get up in the morning, I think to myself "just get up and go". When I get to the gym I read and I don't watch the clock, before I know what my workout is done and I'm on my way home to start the rest of my day. And so far it's working wonderfully. I feel so much better going to work knowing that my workout is done.

morning workouts day 2

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

So the ladies I work with think I'm insane for getting up at 3:30 am to go to the gym but I'm loving it. I feel more accomplished. It's done in time to get home before my husband gets up to get ready for work.

I do not think you are crazy. You have to do what works for you. Good for you for being so dedicated. I try so hard every day to get up early to work out. Some days I can make myself do it. Some days I can't. I always am happy when I do it first thing in the morning though. Then it is not looming over me to try and squeeze in during lunch or my crazy busy evenings after work.

Wow! That's super early, but I don't think you're crazy if it's working for you. I get up between 4-4:30 most days, but have to start the day with coffee first~lol!

That's an hour earlier than I get up for my morning workouts! More power to you, sister! If it's working for you, then keep on working it! There is so much to be said for morning exercise. I love it!
