Totally Frustrated!

Sunday, July 07, 2013

I've logged in food and stayed within my calories, have watched my cholesterol intake, exercised almost daily....definitely more than I have in the past. AND I'm gaining weight and not losing. I am so frustrated. I can't find a reason to keep on going with all of this planning, working, dieting, etc.

Don't give up now! If you continue doing all these good things, you will feel better and the scale will eventually move down. In the meantime, realize that the scale doesn't tell much of a story when you consider all the right things you are doing and the changes you have made are so worth it. Good things take time, keep on keeping on! emoticon

Never give up, Never surrender! (Galaxy Quest). Yes I admit to my nerdiness, but I do like the thought behind the saying. I totally get the frustration. I was stuck at a 10pound loss for 6 months! But I didn't give up. Imagine, 6 months of stepping on the scale everyday to see exactly ZERO movement! Rediculous! I decided to look at my eating logs, look at my exercise...really do over my program so I could start SEEING some improvement. I actually had to increase my calories! Yep, you heard me correctly....I had started doing P90x exercise program which is an hour workout 6 days a week and I hadn't reevaluated my calories. I was starving my poor muscles! Once I increased the calories and paid attention to my protein, the pounds started to come off! That is right, the scale has been steadily going down! Hoorah! so don't give up. I encourage you to tweak what you are doing and look at your calories and exercise.

I'm so sorry and do feel your frustration. I glanced at your food tracker. If I may make a few suggestions. Rather than focusing on your calories only. Look at everything including sodium intake and carbs. Too much sodium will cause water retention and will show weight gain. Also make sure you're eating complex carbohydrates. The healthy kind. Consuming too much simple carb foods will make you wanting to keep eating more carbs so you're not eating balanced meals.
Also, scale may show weight gain if you weigh in at certain time of the month or within week to 2 wks. Everyone is different.
And as Sharoncapps said earlier. When we workout, we lose fat but at the same time gain muscle.
Finally, log everything even those that you think may not matter. Like condiments, oil, sodium, sugar, etc.
And I love sweets, so next time you want Snickers, holler and I'll steal it from you. emoticon
Please don't give up. You're doing great. Just making small adjustments will make a great difference. Try it out. What have you got to lose?

remember that when you build muscles you might gain a little but it will soon start to show. Don't give up just yet. I am finally after almost a month starting to show a little progress.

The Bottomless Pit

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

That is exactly how I felt today. I just couldn't get enough to eat for some reason. I've done pretty well today. My calories are in range, but I did not eat as healthy as I could have. I just wanted some of the foods that I've deprived myself for a week. Tomorrow will be better, and I will eat healthier. I also weigh in tomorrow. I hope I didn't blow it too badly. Hoping for -2lbs. With all of the hard work and exercise, it would be nice for it to be more. Had a great work out today. I lifted weights, and was able to walk a mile in under 15 minutes! My trainer challenged me and I'm thinking that he didn't think I could do it. He went to the back room and started eating his dinner. When I came back there after my mile, well let's just say the look on his face was priceless. I did get a good stretching out though as a reward!

Still on track!

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

It is day 6 and I am still on track. I have to admit, I am somewhat surprised. I've done well with me eating today. Everything is on track! I'm nursing a sore knee and ankle so haven't exercised today. I'm feeling quite tired, too....but am feeling good about my diet. I know there is room for improvement, but I am doing it! AND it feels good!

Woo hoo! Good for you! You can stay on track :-) Sorry about your knee and soreness- take care, Realize that success is 80% diet and only 20% exercise. You can do this! emoticon

I hope your knee and ankle feel better soon. It's a good idea to rest it. Now if I could just remember which it is, put ice on it or heat???, I could give you much better advice.

Congratulations for doing so well otherwise!

Marvelous Monday! Day 5

Monday, June 17, 2013

I had a good eating day today! I stayed within all of my ranges. I actually had a difficult time meeting my minimal calories! I got in a very good workout from my personal trainer. I'm really hoping for 2 pounds down on Thursday when I get on the scale again. Keep your fingers crossed.

It has only been 5 days, and this one has been the easiest so far. It was challenging because I had to eat out quick for both breakfast and lunch. Thank goodness there is a Panerra close by! I was able to make decent choices. Could have been better, but not as bad as I usually do. I actually drove right past McDonalds, Taco Bell, Steak N Shake (my favorite), Jack in the Box and Arbys to get something to eat that was a bit more on the healthy side! :-) This in and of itself is quite an accomplishment for me! :-)

Good for you! I sometimes stop at the grocery store for a "fast food" meal. It is so easy to get some good eats there- quick, cheaper and healthier too. It sounds like you are having a good week and will be losing the 2# on the Thursday weigh-in! emoticon

Happy Father's Day!

Sunday, June 16, 2013

I hope everyone had a great Father's Day!

It was very difficult to stay on track with all of the food around today. I did have some popcorn that I didn't track yet, and that is going to put me over. But I did keep my cholesterol down, and I did get some exercise in, so it is all good, and not as bad as it could have been.

I took DH out to eat at one of his favorites, Longhorn. I ordered a steak, but only ate half of it (3 oz) and ordered my sweet potato plain, the way I like it without all that sugar and butter. So good that you were able to exercise!
