Time to Make It Mine

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

I am having my 6th session with my trainer today. I signed up for 12 sessions and then it's on my own. He's the best trainer I've had and he works well with women. He's a motivator, a pusher but not pushy and he makes me hold myself accountable. He's also expensive and that expense has caused me to make sure I'm doing what I'm suppose to do because it's costing me money. I have pushed myself from my desk to go to the gym, gotten up very early to go to the gym all this because I know it's costing me. As I get close to the end of my time with him I have to realize that not working out and and not doing what I'm suppose to do to keep healthy is also costing me. My health and my life.

Sounds like the trainer was a good investment!! I've never worked with one but I've always been tempted to try!

working with Trainer

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Started working with a trainer and it's getting me motivated. He checks in with me to keep me on target and feel good after a workout with him. Today I walked 3 miles before work. Have to get back to making my workout a priority.

Discovering What I Already Knew Pt 2

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Last week I realize that walking and exercise is the best sleeping aid that one can have and it doesn't cost a thing but time. I walked five days last week and the sleep each night was just deep and restful. This week I realize something else I already knew and that is, you have to be deliberate about making exercise a regular and habitual part of your lifestyle. It's amazing that exercise is one of the things that you can easily dismiss from your day and it says "my body and health is not worth the effort" I ask myself this week as I let other things creep in and overtake my exercise "Why is it so easy to do". I don't let anything get in the way of me brushing my teeth, taking a shower, drinking that morning cup of coffee, getting my "me" time in the morning. Yet, I easily push exercise to the back burner. I realize now that I have to make exercise one of the habitual things in my life and not just something else I "need" to do. My goal this month is to walk at least 30 mins 3X per week. So far I've exceeded that goal. I'm a little over halfway of the month trying to develop a habit. "one of good health"

It's great when eating healthy and exercising regularly turn into a good habit--then it becomes a healthy lifestyle and you don't have to think about it any more. Then you will feel great about yourself and have a better outlook on everything else. A win-win.

Discovering What I Already Knew

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

I realized last night that exercise is such a sleep aide. I'm continuing my journey to a healthier lifestyle. I didn't say that I'm re-starting as I just got detoured and now am back on the right path. Yesterday, I walked even though it was frigid outside. My determination to avoid another detour was the impetus for that walk. Last night when I finally stopped I realized that my body was tired. It was a good tired. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was out and had such a restful deep sleep something that I hadn't had since my detour.

I'm back now and if for nothing else, I'll keep walking just to get a good night's rest.

Yes, exercise is a good way to get rest. Of course, you need plenty of sleep when you're exercising because that's when your body is repairing itself and building up muscle. So the two go together. Isn't it nice how you feel after you finish exercising!

Doing What I Gotta To Do

Monday, January 10, 2011

It was cold today. No it was frigid. I started walking for 30 minutes 5X per week. Last week I engaged a co-worker to walk with me. Well today she was sick and it was very cold. I looked at the clock and it was 12:05 cold outside was a good excuse to not walk. I looked at the clock again and challenged myself to put on my shoes and cut at least 5 minutes off the distance I normally walk. Up out of the chair, shoes on, scarf, hat, gloves and coat and off I go. The first 5 minutes, not bad, 10 more minutes and my legs are freezing, speed up, 5 more minutes getting very warm, last 5 minutes thighs now cold. I've made the turn heading back to the office. Hit my office door and check my watch and yes, 5 minutes less, I did it in the cold. At the end of the day had a late meeting downtown. Decided to go home after the meeting and had a 15 min walk to the subway and 10 min walk home. A great walking day but tonight my legs are aching but it's a good ache.

Will I have the same energy tomorrow. I don't know. It's suppose to snow.
