My inner 'geek' is smiling AND becoming fit. I have always loved technology. My career has evolved around it and I enjoy new gadgets, new apps and new software. As technology evolved, my life has been streamlined. Or, as I tell my customers, it's all about automation!
A couple of months ago I discovered 'wello' or as they say 'Bye-Bye Gym, Hello Convenience'. Wello lets you work out with a trainer via 2-way video on the internet. I thought WOW, really? I don't even have to leave my house? Yes, it's true...rain, snow, sleet or hail...
How many times have you said, "I can't go to the gym, there is a cloud in the sky"....?
This is an actual person, who knows your name and can help address your specific issues.
There are a wide variety of classes and trainers. It is easy to find a good fit. If you are adventurous, you can mix it up! I have been taking Pilates sessions with a wonderful trainer named Kate.
I started with group sessions and have since added a 1 on 1 session each week.
I like Kate, so I am willing to share....Here is a link to Kate on wello:
Compared to working with a personal trainer at the gym, it is quite affordable. The cost is dependent on the trainer's experience and certification.
The fact I can roll out my mat, log on to the computer and begin ...won me over.
I have a Pilates group session this afternoon. The groups are limited to 5 participants plus instructor. For this 60 minute group session, it is $10.
I can see and hear Kate. She can see and hear me. She laughs (and encourages me) when she hears me say, 'I may not survive this.'
Your computer screen displays the instructor on the left half. On the right half, you will see yourself in the top quarter. The other folks (possibly 4 more) fill the bottom quarter of the screen.
I've attended the Pilates group class for 16 weeks. It's a fantastic workout, stretching muscles you may not know existed!
and will definitely work up a sweat...
The convenience has not turned me into a recluse, but it is a time saver on my busy days. I still head out to yoga class and the gym.
My mat is on the floor and waiting....my inner geek is going to work up a sweat!

Yes, I eat oatmeal in the summer! This is my 'go to' breakfast trend at the moment. It's easy, quick, nutritious, low cal! and most important...filling. This morning I added 1 cup of (organic) strawberries and 1/2 cup of blueberries. No added sugar, no added milk. The oatmeal is 100 calories. The strawberries are 46 calories and the blueberries are about 40 calories.
A great breakfast,,,under 200 calories!
