Dr. Martin Luther King

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

I work for a non profit organization so I had to work today, went in for a while to do some desk work! I watched Dr. Kings " I have a dream speech" and as always was inspired by his words.
In the last year we have had lots of issues around equality and laws, and with the tragedy that occurred last week in Tucson we still have a lot of work in our State.
Here on Spark People I have found some great friends and Im happy that we do not judge by color, race or religion we friend people because we share a similar goal "to lose weight and get healthy!" Wow, what if life could be that simple, we are all human right? we all just want to be happy, have our families, worship as we want, go where we want, do what want! BE FREE without persecution!
As we remember a great man today, lets remember his words:
"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.~
Keep moving forward my friends........ emoticon emoticon emoticon

Forward is the only way to move...and we should take others along with us, especially those in need.

Happy MLK Day!

Thank you for sharing a post on what Dr. King meant, especially because so many of the younger people don't remember him at all, he's just a history book story for them.

A childs motivation

Sunday, January 16, 2011

So my beautiful great niece spent the night, she tries to stay as often as she can. She asked me if we could go for a hike in the morning at Papago park a beautiful park with lakes, mountains and all the beauty that is the AZ desert. We went to bed early and I promised her that I would wake her up early, early for us is 7:30 lol I woke her as promised and we headed out, the great thing is this park is only about 10 minutes from me. We hiked for about an hour, following her plan, first hole in the rock, then Fionas creek, then Hunts tomb.......
It was a beautiful morning, another plus living in AZ gorgeous weather at this time of the year. Not many people on an early Sunday morning, but we had a great time. When we got home she then made breakfast, tons of yummy pancakes with strawberries. Thank goodness for children, they teach us to enjoy the simple things and being active while doing it. We also made plans for our next hike, Thank you Scarlett for jump starting my excercise. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Children are wonderful at reminding us that exercise doesn't have to be complicated. How lucky she is to have an involved aunt like yourself! emoticon

so hungry!

Saturday, January 15, 2011

After being sick all week I was really hungry but was a bit afraid to eat. I went out to eat with my family and had a yummy quesadilla and a potato taco.
The funniest thing happened as we left the restuarant, I left a little later then the rest of my family (waiting for some take out for my husband) as I got outside I see my sisters car waiting for me at the curb, I approach the car and try to get into the car, jiggling the car handle telling them to open the door! I suddenly realize to my horror that its not my sisters car! I look over to where my sister cars is still parked waiting for me, and run over to it, they have been watching me trying to get into someones car. As we drive by we realize its a couple with a toddler in the back seat! so now they think I'm some crazy person trying to abduct thier child? We didn't stop laughing the whole way home!

That reminded me of my Grandmother MANY MANY years ago. She had come out of the grocery store, and got into their car and waited and waited for my Uncle to come back. Finally, the door opened and someone got in - but not my Uncle - the car looked EXACTLY like theirs and she had hopped into the wrong one WITH a couple week's worth of groceries emoticon

Feeling Better

Friday, January 14, 2011

I'm starting to feel better after two days home resting, I didn't work out at all but since I was sick I didn't eat much. I will probably take the rest of the week off from exercising (I'm really tired from this flu) The one thing I did do every night is take my son to the gym, I'm proud of his motivation and even though I didn't feel well I drove him there. I hope some of his good habits starts rubbing off on me.

I'm glad to hear that you're starting to feel better! Don't be too hard on yourself for not exercising while sick. It's super nice that you were able to take your son to the gym. Keep up the good work and just take things one day at a time! emoticon

Hi there! You're a good Mom for doing this for your son even though you yourself were feeling sick.
My hubby has been sick all week and all the chores have fallen on me--I'm so exhausted that I'm over-tired and cannot sleep. I'm going to be in the guest room tonight so I don't get his cold/flu whatever it is.
don't feel bad about not working out when you're sick--just get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids--especially tea.
night night! emoticon

So I'm home sick with this tummy flu, I'm not super sick just enough to make me feel quezy. I always make everyone chicken soup when thier sick, so now I'm making myself some! I'm going to see if I rest, if that will do the trick. I also have a bad headache so I'm drinking my green tea, water is not going down so good.
Pluses to stayin home from work, sleep, finish my book, and loggin on to SP! lol
