Here I go again

Monday, February 21, 2011

I read an article, Turning "Someday" into Today by Mike Kramer and it is amazing how it hit home with me.

The article says that we will never be able to get, be or do all that we want. But when we know that life happens it gives us the freedom to make today count as much as possible. We need to give ourselves permission to ignore things for the sake of something more important, our needs and the needs of our families.
Everything else is optional.

This was a 3day weekend for me and I had a plan, I would get everything in the house done cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc. Then the phone rang my only aunt is inthe hospital with pneumonia, then my daughter calls to tell me that her husbands grandmother, and aunt are in the hospital with pneumonia and of course 3 hospitals are involved.

So much for all my plans including workouts and food plan, because i didn't make the hard choice to care for me too.

Oh I almost forgot, my grandson broke his arm in 2 places!!!!

I agree - take care of yourself. Crazy with so many with pneumonia. Stay well.

With all those who are in the hospital just make sure you do not end up included on the list. Take good care of yourself too. emoticon

So many decisions to make - how can you divide yourself so many ways to take care of them all? Ritacake - be sure to take care of yourself - I was pleased to see that cleaning house went to the bottom of your to-do list.

5 Things that still motivate me

Thursday, December 02, 2010

1. Health, I'm tired of feeling tired.

2. Family I need to be here to see my grandchildren grow up.

3. Family History of heart disease and strokes.

4.The good feeling I get when I know I have logged my food (whether I get it logged into sp or not) and knowing that I have moved to improve myself.

5. Challenge of staying on track

You have set a great example for yourself in writing out your "to do list" and you should feel accomplished for it...Just remember weight loss is done in baby steps and is a lifestyle change not an overnight transformation..GREAT WORK!

I did OK

Friday, November 26, 2010

On Monday I started trying to eat clean and did very well with cooler 1 , but I did stray yesterday check it out:
I ate my oatmeal as always and water, my morning snack was lots of raw veggies and water. For lunch I took my own baked sweet potato w/1tsp raw honey and 1Tbs walnuts and of course turkey breast,a serving of healthy cooked collards. Then ate 1 Tbs of everything else (dressing, broc cass, cranbry sauce, mac&cheese & 1 homemade whole wheat roll)
Did I eat totally clean? no.
Am I proud of myself? yes.

For the first Thanksgiving I can remember I got up from the table and did not have to drag myself to the nearest couch. Back to eating clean

PS: I had plenty of energy to shop..

Maybe they did hear!

Thursday, November 18, 2010

How many times have I tried to lose weight, just to give up and give in to the temptations put in front of me by co workers.

Yesterday I asked everyone in the office to please keep all their goodies in the break area and not in the areas shared by everyone. In the past my trying over and over to lose weight was a joke to everyone.

So you can imagine my amazement when today were no goodies/junk food any where to be found!!!!

Maybe they did hear or maybe I finally spoke up!

5 Things that motivate me

1. Health, I'm tired of feeling tired.

2. Family I need to be here to take care of my Mom and to see my grandchildren grow up.

3. Family History of heart disease and strokes.

4.The good feeling I get when I know I have logged my food (whether I get it logged into sp or not) and knowing that I have moved to improve myself.

5. As silly as it sounds, I want to sit on the side if my bed each morning and be able to bend down and tie my shoes without feeling like my eyeballs may pop out!

Good reasons! Number 5 isn't silly: the truth is, we all want to be more comfortable in our own skin. You are going to do great.
