can't never could do nothing...

Friday, October 26, 2007

Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.

- John Wooden, Hall of Fame college basketball coach

I think that it is a common problem with average people, they focus on what they cannot do, instead of what they can. Sometimes it takes being confronted with real limitations to realize how trivial the things we let stop us before really were! Don't wait for tragedy to strike...change your attitude now!

My 7th grade Teacher used to say that! I agree! We need to believe in ourselves and focus on our strengths! Love the positive attitude! Have a great weekend.

What a great reflection. Your thoughts echo my own. Keep looking for your strengths and capitalizing on them!

A Day Out

Thursday, October 25, 2007

I spent most of the day at the rug-hooking shop in Canton and missed dance class tonight. It was a cold and rainy day and I enjoyed spending time with people I like. I was bad though, I ate McDonald's for lunch and splurged on a large fries. I also ate cake for dessert.

We only have a rug-hooking shop because a nice lady moved here and decided to open one. LOL It is nice to have her there, pointing out what i am doing wrong.

Ah well. We all have days like that. Enjoying the fellowship of others is certainly something special. I'm jealous that you have a rug-hooking shop. I've always wanted to learn that art, but have never been presented with the opportunity. I'm sure someday it will, however. Remember that a single day of splurging is just that, a single day. There are worse things in the world. Just make good decisions today!

Princess is finally comfortable

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

Finally, I can say princess is really doing well and feel completely at home. She has finally taken to the toys...specifically, Rudy's toys. She gets them and goes nuts...she is very aggressive with the toys, but she is having fun. I always seem to interrupt her when I get out the camera. She is much more playful and runs around a lot more than when she first came to live with us.

She also seems much more open to me and we have not had any serious biting episodes, since I used some alpha methods to deter the behavior....like holding the back of her neck when I picked her up and she growled or tried to bite. She jumps in my lap and acts like a normal dog most of the time, which is a huge improvement of the snarling bundle of nerves she used to be!

Rudy, our other rescue, fit in so fast and so well. I never expected it to take so long for Princess to get to the same place, but I think she is finally there.

Cool! So glad that you have opened your home to a dog in crisis and have had the patience to work her through her issues. It sounds like you have made a forever friend. Thanks for sharing.

Fun with Friends

Monday, October 22, 2007

This weekend my friends and I went to take a rug hooking class and we had a lovely time. It was fun to try something different and I had a blast using my fibers making the sheep. I think this is a project I can finish pretty easily.

blessed are the flexible, for they will not get bent out of shape

Friday, October 19, 2007

Whatever is flexible and flowing will tend to grow; whatever is rigid and blocked will wither and die.

- Tao Te Ching, Lao Tsu's teachings

There is something to said for being flexible and able to adapt.

Princess won't stay in place if I open the door, so I had to take the picture through the dirty glass. She is adapting well to her new home.
