Gluten Free- Day 1

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

I've been on a bit of a health roller coaster lately. One day I feel pretty good, other days- just awful. I saw a GI specialist. Apparently, my colon doesn't work as well as it should. (I also have some terrible acid reflux, that I can't even feel. Although my doctor said my insides don't look too great because of it.) So, I take my meds which kind of work. I wish they worked better.

I finally saw my family doctor yesterday and she suggested I try a gluten free diet. I did some research on my own. It seems as though some people can have an intolerance even if you don't have celiac disease. I figured I may as well try it and see if I feel better.

Well, this is day #1. Please feel free to let me know if you have tried this and if you ended up feeling better and how long it took.

Good luck being gluten free! Its hard but if you feel better it will be easy to stick to it!
Let us know how it goes! Do you have a good gluten-free book or cookbook? That can really help! Gluten free for Dummies is really good. emoticon

Yes. please keep us posted. Except for having a colonoscopy 3 years ago, with good results, I know nothing about that. Of course, I have been battling Acid Reflux, most of my life.

My trainer and her family are going gluten free. Her husband is very sensitive to gluten. When he is gluten free he has energy and his mood is much better apparently.
I am beginning to notice that when I eat wheat bread I bloat a littlle bit so I have cut way back. The flip side of the coin is that you tend to eat much better when you are gluten free. So maybe it is a combination of the two that makes you feel better. There are so many gluten free products now. On the other hand it sneaks it's way into many food products so read those labels. Good luck with the diet.

Best of luck with it -- I look forward to hearing how it goes.

My SIL does the whole gluten free thing but I'm not positive what her medical problems consist of. So yea, not much help here but I wanted to say I hope it helps!

At times, I go gluten free, and I then feel better. Also as the gluten leaves my body, I sneeze for several days, really an interesting thing to happen.

I wish you well and then I hope that you feel better.

My Dad Got His Plane Ticket to Visit Me!!

Saturday, June 16, 2012

I moved to Tulsa, OK at the end of Febuary. I was lucky enough to fly home in April for the weekend for my Grandma's 90th birthday. Otherwise, I haven't seen my family. This morning, my Dad ordered his tickets to come to see me!!!!!!!!
I couldnn't be more excited. He is coming out from Aug 28th-Sept 6th.

There is one thing that makes my Dad's visit even more exciting. I will be completing Supreme 90 Day on Septemeber 5th. So, I'm looking at this as a type of reward for my hard work.

Additionally, my Dad and I have always had a friendly competion about weightloss. Then, I moved and it stopped. (I'm not going to blame this for my weight gain. ) It really helped. We would text each other and go walking together. Vent when we snacked too much or ate really bad. It held us accountable. We both want the other to be proud. So, it helps us work harder.

The competition has been reinstated. I'm going to kick my Dad's butt this time because of all my hard work. LOL

I am so happy for you that you Dad is flying in to visit. Give him a big hug for me. I lost my dad in 1997. I would do anything to see him again and have a big hug.

Best wishes on your journey for weight loss and exercise. I am here if you need me. Love

I would love to be able to impact my daughters' attempts to lose weight in a positive way like that. So far I've only introduced her to spark people. What you have is special.

Day 8 of Supreme 90 Day

Friday, June 15, 2012

I'm on day 8 of Supreme 90 Day. I would just like to say that I'm very VERY sore. (In a good way.) I'm very happy that I'm sticking to it. Still working on my calories. However, I'm getting better at adding a ton more fruits and veggies. I'm always sort of near my range at least!

I'm Back... Huge Thank You to My Old Spark Friends

Saturday, June 09, 2012

Well, I've been away from Spark long enough for my old account to disappear. WOW. I guess that is a long time. So, I started a new account. It is most likely for the best anyway. I have gained the 28 pounds I lost on SP back... PLUS 5! So, I'm starting all over again.

Well, it's not really 100% new. I need to look at the bright side. I already know how to use the site. I'm used to drinkng more water than I ever have in my life. I have the workout DVDs. I have the at home equipment. I've already realized that doing an at home DVD is great if I am short on time instead of skipping my workout all together.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm currently on Day 2 of Supreme 90 Day. For anyone who doesn't know, it is basically a low budget verson of P90X. It's only $20 and comes with 10 DVDs. It's worth checking out if you are looking for something challenging. Not to mention, you can complete the DVD in about 40 minutes.

I've noticed that I actually started to walk differently since I've gained weight. WOW. That is a hard to admit. I'm noticing I feel like I actually have to "throw" my wieght or something. Has anyone else noticed something like this?

Did I mention my "fat clothes" don't fit. emoticon

Well, I'm going to quit complaining. I'm going to celebrate my path in the right direction. Let's be honest, I was happy sitting on the couch. I forgot how happy getting up and moving made me feel. I forgot how much I love the way my muscles feel when I'm working out regularly. I need to stay positive.

I'm always looking for new, non-judgemental spark friends. Feel free to stop by my spark page if anything I said has rung true for you in your life; or if you just want to make another spark friend.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Best wishes.

My weekend plan..... eat extra veggies to curb my hunger. Do my workouts. Get outside for a walk. Go food shopping for healthy options. Cook some food for the week to pre-plan my meals. Cook healthy soup/chili to freeze for times I'm "too busy to cook dinner".
