It Is Finally Real!!!

Monday, October 03, 2011

I had to go to the doctor on Friday for an ear infection. For the first time ever, I was excited to get on the scale. I got to tell the nurse that I was on the front scale. I not only was on the front scale; I weighed 20 pounds less on the doctor's scale than the last time I was there!!!!!!! (fully clothed with shoes on and at the end of a long schoolday)

This morning I had dropped to 277.3 on my scale.!!!!
It was over 18 years ago that I was this weight as a living weight. I checked with my doctor and I need less than 20 pounds to not be morbidly obese. I am in the 270's!!! It feels so good. I am going to take another picture when I get to 270. I am almost to the first of my visualization pictures. I need to dig out a swimsuit to start taking my pictures in, so I can compare them to the visualization shots.
I have size 16 red and white polka-dot tankini that I can't wait to fit into. emoticon

emoticon Way to go! Don't you love not being afraid of the doctor's scale? I used to only let them weigh me at my physicals, not I insist on being weighed. lol

If you haven't read Living Weight versus Diet Weight go read it now!!!

This is my favorite quote from her blog:

"I've changed the norm. I don't have to worry about how to become a daily exerciser once I've hit my goal weight, and whether or not I'll accomplish this...because that has become my fitness norm already." TheTurtlebear

She opened my eyes to something I had never realized. I love SP!!! I learn new things everyday !

Twenty Pounds Released! Joy Found!

Monday, September 19, 2011

But more than that, I feel so good! My skin is clear and I look years younger than I did in July. In fact, I look like my profile picture again. lol

Today is "Talk Like A Pirate Day" and we are celebrating it at my school. Only a few students dressed for it, but the teachers are having a blast. I bought a Victorian dress in 2008 -size 2X and could barely squezze into it and had to wear a jacket over it to look decent for a Steampunk event I attended. I was exhausted when I got home and didn't hang it up. My husband washed it with everything else-and it shrunk to a half size smaller. Today, I am wearing it for the first time and it is loose in the waist. I am wearing my boots for the first time since 2007. They fit and I am having such a good time stomping around that I have ordered another pair-this time black knee-highs that lace up the back. They are going to look so awesome with my black leggings.

One of the side benefits of this lifestyle change is the change in my self-care. Last school year, the only thing I did for myself was buy some simple T-shirt dresses in all the colors of the rainbow. I woke up one day last April and realized that everything in my closet was years old and black. So, I added color-lots of color. I bought 3 orange dresses, 2 red, and 4 green-along with yellow, purple, brown and blue. They brightened up my look-but didn't give me what I now have-The Radiance of Joy.

I actually spend time each morning at my vanity, look at myself in the mirror and smile. I wear makeup everyday for the first time in years. My hair is cut in a style instead of trimmed because it is too long. I got a manicure and pedicure Saturday for our evening dinner date. My "little black dress" I bought in May for my anniversary-and barely fit into is loose all over. My legs are amazing-I really need mini-skirts to come back in style. lol

Life is fun! I laugh and dance my way through my days. My students never know what to expect. Somedays I put on great music and tell everyone to chair dance. It is amazing how much that little burst of movement and joy revives my students. It is so cool to have jaded teenagers rush to get to my class so they won't miss anything. Today's music is The Chieftains and the dance of the day is a jig. lol

Life is wonderful and God is so good. I am going to have an amazing week this week.

Edit-I was just interviewed for the District Newsletter. Earlier today, my principal agreed that this could be the First Annual Talk Like a Pirate Day for our school. Woo Hoo! I never would have spearheaded trhis without Sparkpeople. Last year, I could barely drag myself to work each day. There was no way I could have planned anything extra.

Taken Out to a Chef Owned Restaurant

Saturday, September 17, 2011

I went over my calories for the day-but less than the amount of extra Cardio calories I had burned this week. SPark On! We Got This!

www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutriti
on_articles.asp?id=548

This Spark article made all the difference. It was a French based cuisine-so I knew what to look out for when reading ingredients. My only indulgence was dessert. We had fried greenbeans for an appetizer. I had 5 greenbeans and ate them slowly. I had an arugula salad-needed more veggies for the day- and picked baked salmon for my entree. It was served on a bed of whipped parsnips and topped by a wilted salad of baby spinach.

My dessert was the most wonderful banana pudding I have ever had-made with fresh baked vanilla wafers.

The food was amazing and worth every yummy calorie. We plan on going back for anniversaries and birthdays. It is our favorite restaurant.

The chef is Tracy Miller. I think everything tasted even better because our tastebuds were clear after eating clean for over a month.

(Virtual) Rocky Mountain Trek Week 2

Thursday, September 15, 2011

I meant to write about the trek last week. I had it all planned days full of sunshine and fresh air. Evenings giggling and singing around the campfire. What I didn't plan on was being sick that first week. I am better this week, but last week it was all I could do to keep putting one foot in front of another. I got my tent buddy, sonia not to say anything so I wouldn't have to go home. All I did was march through my days half dead and fall exhausted into my sleeping bag each night. If Sonia hadn't kept after me to eat, I probably would have skipped more meals than I ate. I couldn't smell the fresh air and didn't notice the scenery. But this week will be different, I am determined not to miss anymore of this wonderful adventure.

This is one of the reasons that I was so excited about this trek. I want to collect as many pictures of butterlies as I can. There are 139 confirmed species in the park and I want to photograph as many as possible. I have an 8 GB SD card in my camera-so I can take thousands of pictures.

I love the fact that there is an online species list with pictures so that I can label my collection when I return home.

To Be Continued.....
