A little farther / a little slower...

Cardio Streak Day 374
60 minute walk/jog
0600hrs 70F

It's back in the city and back to my routine. Today is scheduled for an early morning jog, anywhere from 30 minutes to whenever. After the warm up, I went right into the jog.

I could tell I was going a little slower than normal but it felt good today. As a result, I went a longer time, 60 minutes, and completed 4.60 miles in that time.

The entire workout today was:
5.20 miles
70 minutes

Great workout! I read that people who jog at a moderate speed live longer than people who don't jog, or run fast. I guess that means you'll live a long time!

You are always going to be able to get faster. I've heard that time over and over. So work on that distance and the speed will come. You're doing fantastic.

Cardio Streak Day 373

I got back to town about 1900hrs, put up my stuff, then headed out the door. I'm really glad it's an off day and all I had to do was a 20 minute walk.

More tomorrow, I'm sure...

1.20 miles
20 minutes

Cardio Streak Day 372
45 minute walk/jog
0700hrs 70F

Last night I went to the out of town civic function that I mentioned. I should have realized when I pulled up in the parking lot and noticed that virtually everything in the lot was a pickup truck of some sort or another. I was in a sedan! Inside, not only did all the guys have on jeans, but the women, too! The "uniform" of the night seemed to be jeans, boots, and stetsons! I seem to have said I was going to get some jeans to better fit in out here, but I didn't do it yet...

My friend, however, did his usually bang-up job of catering the BBQ and I might say that it was wonderful. I didn't pig out, though, and only had about six ounces. It's amazing how full you can feel after eating, even though you don't get that second (or third) helping!

After the business portion of the meeting, they spread sawdust on the floor and the C&W band came out. Actually, they were pretty darn good. After an hour or so, I thought I might actually turn into a pumpkin so off I went, into a lightning storm which was really great.

I've been thinking about my one-year cardio streak that I completed last week. I'm thinking of extending it to 500 days.

Today I slept in, did a few things around here, and then did a 45 minute jog. I covered 3.55 miles in 45 minutes. With the warm up and cool down, the day was:
4.15 miles
55 minutes

I'm sure you can make 500 days without "breaking a sweat" (other than the one the jogging causes, of course).

Sounds like fun! I believe you can do it if you decide too go for 500 days.

GREAT JOB! IT'S WEIRD WHEN YOU EAT THAT MUCH FOOD AT ONE TIME. I KNOW I SOMETIMES EAT 4 MEALS AND OTHERS 5 AND THE 4 MEALS MAKE YOU FEEL SO MUCH FULLER RIGHT AFTER.

An out of town jog...

Cardio Streak Day 371
45 minute walk/jog
0700hrs 70F

I'm out of town and on the way, I did 'hit' the BBQ place where I like to visit. However, since tonight is the BBQ at one of the civic places, catered by one of my friends, I opted for a grilled chicken breast with brown rice and a baked potato. I don't usually eat potatoes of any kind, but it just sounded good. I went easy on the butter, cheese, and sour cream, though.

This morning I got up around 0630, had one scrambled egg and an ounce of cheese along with a bottle of no-name water before I headed out the door. I stayed with the same program I've been hitting this week, an easy jog / walk for about 45 minutes. Today I covered 3.60 miles in that time which included a couple of pretty good sized hills.

The total workout today was:
4.50 miles
60 minutes

I ALWAYS EAT POTATOES. SOMETIMES 2 IN 1 DAY. THEY HAVE A LOT OF POTASSIUM. I DON'T PUT ANYTHING ON THEM EXCEPT SAURCRAUT OR MY BBQ CHICKEN OR PORK. GREAT WORKOUT.

Every time you say "no-name water", I so envision actually creating a brand of bottled water called No-Name.

"Only" 45 minutes today

Cardio Streak Day 370
45 minute walk/jog
0630hrs 70F

I got started early again this today. Early morning, right about the time dawn breaks, is my favorite part of the day. One of my friends told me the same thing during my college years and at the time I thought she was a little on the nutty side... after all, who really wakes up that early in college! I've since grown to really like that time of day - the smell is different, the feel is different, I really like it and prefer that time of day when running.

I thought today I would do another easy jogging session, mixing the jogging with occasional walking. That's the way it worked out today. I went an old way from a year ago and tackled Cardiac Hill 1.0 about a half mile into the workout. Unlike a year ago, I did not stop before I hit the top and I kept going even after that!

About every five to seven minutes today I did a walk for a minute or so, then went back to the jog. Tomorrow, I may even start a little earlier than 0630 to take full advantage of the dawn. However, tomorrow I will be out of town.

On the way this afternoon, I may not stop of BBQ because a friend of mine is catering a civic function on either Friday or Saturday night (I forget which) and, I gotta tell ya, he makes some of the best BBQ I've ever had. I'm looking forward to it.

The down side to being out of town is that I will not be on SP quite so much because of the internet out there, but I'll still enter blogs and my trackers. I should be back Monday.

Today, I finished the workout with 3.60 miles completed in 45 minutes. Add the warm up and cool down and the total for the day was:
4.50 miles
60 minutes

Wondering if I was that nutty friend. ;) Early morning is still my favorite time of day.

Thanks for letting me know about the site. I'll check it out again.

Enjoy the BBQ
